3.2 million I believe was the number? That's impressive, but I disagree with you on one thing. There were STILL not enough to wiis to go around. In my area, and I'm willing to bet many others, the damn things are still impossible to find unless you get up at 6 in the morning and stand in line outside the store in the ball-shrinking cold weather until they open up. They did ramp up production once already...but they need to do it yet again.

Why don't you ever note that the Wii is in higher-than-supply demand in North America (and maybe Japan). There was only one month of shortage in the UK since launch, but other than that a lot are collecting dust on the shelves here in Europe.

Looks like they're only short in the land where everyone and everything (except Microsoft) lives on one big credit with increasing value. that's why the economic crisis came eventually. because someone asked for their credit back and when it couldn't be paid everyone saw that and started calling in debts.

Well done, Mr. Fahey. This was some excellent research.

That so, another possible reason is market stagnation. The Wii continues to suffer from the Nintendo Curse of not having many bangout games and those that it does have tend to be preaching to the choir. Over the course of three years, without any additional new blood, pretty much the people who want Wiis have Wiis, and so the numbers of people who are out to buy Wiis begin to trickle out.

I have a suspicion that theory is wrong, and it does have more to do with the overall economic climate, as the world collectively slaps its forehead and says "what the hell was I thinking?" It's also not a popular idea, but it is a possible one.

Seriously, he never has anything of value to contribute. This being Ban-Hammer Monday, I nominate him for banning.

I'm glad to see that Nintendo is finally starting to meet demand. I'm still sick of getting calls every ten minutes at Gamestop asking if we have any. Most of the time (a month before Christmas excluded) I was able to say 'yes'.
