Two games I've bought and returned... Saints Row 2 was fun, but I got dizzy. Smackdown vs Raw was fun... until the memory of some kids in my 4th (or was it 5th) grade class practicing some wrestling moves they saw on UPN on each other and one kid getting crippled. :|

Saints Row 2 is frickin' awesome. I played the PC version and it's one of the best games to dick around in. and by "dick around", I mean do stupid stuff for the lulz for hours on end. Whoever made the missions where you destroy stuff with infinite weapons and ammo is a genius.

@SanjiX: You're the first person I've seen mention the PC version without also mentioning that whoever did the job of porting it simply didn't try at all.

Supposedly it's completely broken and there's no signs of a patch.

I should get a copy of Saints Row 2 from my friends store soon before they run out of the original box art copies.
I can't stand the stupid Greatest hits box. Stupid red covers. They just ruin my collection and stick out like baboon's butt.

This comment isn't meant to be sarcastic or talking trash or anything . . . but I honestly had no idea WWE was still that popular.

This means it's outselling almost every other sport. Not to mention plenty of quality, unique non-sports games. Sure, I come across a match on obscure tv channels every once in a while, but I had no idea this stuff was still watch . . . let alone played . . . let alone "greatest hits" played!

I wouldn't put it that way. The WWE games are less dependent on roster updates than other sports titles, and are much more likely to sell as they age. On the other hand, demand for last year's Madden almost ceases to exist as soon as the new version is released.

@spiderweb1986: Dude, no offense but that statement is just not true. WWE games are specifically more dependent on roster updates than other sports titles. If you check out IGN (where the majority of the fanbase hang out) you will notice that people go through months of roster talk, IGN have a daily roster build up every year, etc.

Wow, I was just about to buy Saint's Row 2 from some seedy pawn shop. Thank god I didn't spend my money there.

Of course, I should be saving the money for Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend anyway...

@Archaotic: I'll suggest a few for ya to mull over.
RTS: Supreme Commander+SupCom Forged Alliance, Dawn of War I and Dawn of War II, Civ IV, Company of Heroes, Medieval II: Total War

FPS: Crysis, Battlefield 2 (or 2142), F.E.A.R, COD4 (best version, mods and maps galore from the community)

RPG (I know this is what you really want): The Witcher (Must play, it probably falls under WRPG but I prefer to think of it more as an action RPG with western influences.) Titan Quest (If you want a modern day Diablo but can't wait for III then pick up this game, solid gameplay, a good story and nice colourful visuals), Oblivion (with the reskins, mods and community fixes, you can actually make this into a decent game ;P )

There's much more out there but I'm not going to list them all, hopefully this'll help ya make up some sort of list.

@-MasterDex-: Good idea, sir. I should give the Witcher a try. I've been holding out since they had the console port coming, but now that it's cancelled, I might as well just spring for it. Can I play it with a PS3/360 controller? Does it work at all with a gamepad?

@Archaotic: I don't think it does, at least not natively but I think giving the nature of the games interactions that m+kb would be the best. It's a shame the port was cancelled though, it could have sold very well if adapted right to consoles.

@Archaotic: The lackluster combat in the Witcher can be looked past for everything else in the game. The combat wasn't even what I liked least, I hated researching and jumping through all the hoops required to properly do alchemy which was great. But your choices aren't Mother Teresa vs Kitten throat slashing like other RPGs, and the consequences of your choices aren't even known until later in the game. It's amazingly well done.

@Gambit09: Already have Demon's Souls (love it), but I need an actual RPG. Like a JRPG. I'm just not into the whole BioWare/Bethesda school of "CHOICE AT THE EXPENSE OF EVERYTHING ELSE", to be honest.

Especially Alpha Protocol and Borderlands, which are just shooters to me. Dragon Age COULD be good, but I don't think it'll give me what I'm looking for.

@-MasterDex-: Yeah, dude, my buying schedule for the rest of the year is as follows...

Shadow Complex (XBLA)
Dissidia: Final Fantasy (PSP)
Demon's Souls (PS3)
Persona (PSP)
Uncharted 2 (PS3)
Brutal Legend (PS3)
Final Fantasy XIII (import)

That's it. I've already played the shit out of Dissidia and Demon's Souls, so I'm just buying them to support the titles and help get sequels made, but the others will get plenty of play time due to the almost total drought of meaningful games for the rest of the year.

Not being as fussy over what I buy has it's downsides though, on top of having less money, I also have way too many games to finish, even now I've still got several games that I've barely played.

My list looks something like this:

I'll leave it there, this is just what's expected in '09, the list is dependant on scores, etc of course so it could become a lot smaller and there's probably a load that I forgot to mention that I'll probably get. You can see the predicament though, even if I was to finish 1 game a month, I'd still be trying to finish more games. Like I said, you're lucky your list is small.

@Stikasasn: Why? It has its audience at 29.99 and selling it lower than that wouldn't bring in enough people. The people willing to pay for a demo already bought it at 40. Those not, for the most part, won't buy it at 30 or 20 either.
