Someone made a mistake. Big deal. I don't see how that warrants bans or all this excessive action on the part of Epic and Microsoft to handle something so simple and so common in today's world. Epic is always so uptight about stuff like this. People posted about it because they found a great deal or wanted to sound the alarm on a problem. Punishing them for doing so is ridiculous. What ever happened to "the customer is always right" anyway? If you walk into Sears and see a sign that says "free headphones with mp3 player purchase" and then find out that deal is an error, more often than not you'll still get the deal because the sign was there right in front of you. The next person won't, but you will unless there's a clear retraction somewhere. A very similar thing happened here because that lancer is tied to a game purchase similar to how headphones may be tied to an mp3 player.

Unfortunately, forum bans on Epic's forums last forever because Jeff Morris hasn't figured out how to use temporary bans yet. It's been a year...you'd think he had figured it out by now. It's a very hostile place to visit. Shame too because it's driven away a lot of their PC gaming crowd. I miss the old Atari forums. You can't even report bugs on Epic's forums so posting about the lancer and getting banned for it doesn't surprise me at all.

@BigDragon: On one hand I agree, Epic is being overly sensitive about this, which isn't a shocker. On the other, this was just plain dumb on the user's part. Common sense just isn't common anymore. Of all places, why bring up a method of getting exclusive DLC for free on the game developers' site? Not smart. So they chose to delete the thread, which I don't agree with but that's another discussion.

Then the user MAKES ANOTHER THREAD ON THE SAME TOPIC.

I don't know about you, but at most traditional forums I've ever been a member of, if an admin/mod decides to delete a thread, it's against policy/rules to begin a new thread about the same thing. You either have to PM someone to ask permission first, or get some kind of ban.

I'm still enjoying Banjo Kazooie on Xbox Live Arcade. Too bad there are a lot of framerate issues to deal with. Hopefully they'll fix that.

Correct me if im wrong but isn't the golden lancer only gotten when you buy the limited edition? So it has a price attached to it. So downloading it for free would surely just plain and simply be stealing.

@Vidunder: It wasn't meant to be on the site (that's a bug on MS's side) but the person who spread the word knew that it was a bug and he was telling others to exploit this bug to get something they shouldn't be allowed to have.

They didn't ban because he downloaded it, they banned because he was encouraging others.

I have not recieved any notice of being banned, though I don't think it'd be fair for M$ to ban anyone who used their OWN website to download something that is free. They should fire one of their interns for uploading it to the web without the 99999 MP cost.
