"The most recent event and one which has caused the most controversy is surrounding Xabier."

Perhaps they never heard of the Black Rose Incident.

I'm not sure whether EVE is the best argument for Libertarian policies, or the best argument against Libertarian policies.

    Epic lulz.

This is why I love Eve so much. It's a great example of how MMO's should work.

Hey this is the sort of news I hear about EVE that makes me wanna play it more and more. I've heard about several robbery issues, which is not against game rules I hear, so I think that is awesome, and I also hear about sweet raids on massive starships that take months and months to build up.

@SecCom: It's not just limited to raids on starships either. You've got massive wars in Eve where a corp/alliance of 200 players are facing off against another corp/alliance of 200 players.

You really should try it for a month. Join a corp, get some help with the basics and in no time you'll be loving the game.

This guy is full of awesome. Not quite sure how it works given that in the digital realm, people have many ways of finding you (he must've wiped out his friends list), but hell of a heist.

Every one of these news stories about EVE that gets posted, makes me want to play. I mean, a game run by players in so many ways? I'd like to imagine the EVE is what LBP would be like, if all moderation was community driven. Just imagine...a handful of prominent community members that are officially appointed and given power to moderate levels into nothingness, who people can communicate and reason with. Not an invisible floating hand in the sky that smites levels willy-nilly. Firm but fair people who wont tolerate major copyright and IP infringement, but at the same time can make comprimises.

@Talleh: I don't think that would work very well in the case of LBP. The community wouldn't be able to be 100% objective, that's not to say the current moderators are either. My point is that having members of the community moderating levels could result in some very messy business. Bribes, vengence, preference and relationship would all come into play.

It would be nice if it worked though. We can always hold out hope that more developers/publishers see the benefits of user-created content that mirrors/advertises their own.

I think there should be some sort of in game FBI. They could track down players and recover funds like this for a percentage of the money. I think it's cool that people actually are able to do stuff like this, but there needs to be a balance.
