i must ask because ive always wanted to buy a wheel. does the wheel have resistance and does is go back to the middle if you let it go while coming out of a turn? im thinking probably not :( but i dunno for sure.
@ChonieRanchito: Most racing wheels for the 360/PS3 do have force feedback, I know the 360 wheel pulls against you in turns, then goes loose when the front tires break traction.
It's sort of a pain in the ass to set it all up, but once you get used to playing Forza/GT with a wheel the controller just doesn't cut it.
@ChonieRanchito: With a few notable exceptions Formula 1 isn't really a sport where you have tall men. Most famous drivers average at 5'7"-9".
and I believe Xe03 answered the other question :)
@dowingba: @teeuwen:
Yeah I've heard playing GT (or any racing game) with a steering wheel is like taking it to another level ... but damn man 50% faster times? Now I REALLY have to get a wheel.
@DJ_Skrull:
NFS:Shift and Dirt 2 until Forza 3 comes out. Then Forza 3 until GT5 comes out (of course not just GT5, but F3 and GT5 in tandem).
But as an arcade racing fan as well, I really want to try out Blur and Split/Second
... the videos look good for them man.
@gallahad:
Interesting. But you're not saying it's not a motorcycle helmet right? Or are you? Now I'm confused.
That appears to be the same wheel I have. And if so, that force feedback is going to be knocking around all those drinks and stuff he has strewn about.
I have mine hooked to a table and to weigh down the table I pile on my Sin City collection and LOTR books. It's not uncommon for a book to go flying during a crash or such.
@Michael Dukakis: Well, I should hope he is, for his sake! But even just going off the track a bit generally causes an earthquake of juicy, juicy force feedback. Who knew grass was so bumpy!
@shouryuuken: Heh. Everyone thinks of the GBA. It might surprise you to know, I never have even owned or played a GBA. (Okay, well I've played a couple GBA games on my DS, but that doesn't count!)
The meaning of my name is a closely guarded secret. (And also an inside joke that no one but me and some old friends would understand anyway.) I've been using it for about 9 years now online. It's very useful because, since it isn't a word in any language (apparently), it's never "taken" so when I sign up for shit I don't have to add numbers or anything to the end.

GT benefits from a huge library of cars, but there are better and more accurate racing games out there.

Forza 3, NFS:Shift, Gran Turismo 5, Split/Second, Blur, F1 2009, Dirt 2, the new WRC game (announced for 2010) etc.
Good time to be a fan of racing video games ay?
EDIT: Just noticed, isn't that a motorcycle helmet? You sure he's playing GT5:P and not Tourist Trophy (with a wheel for some reason)?

Also, my times are like 50% better using the wheel than using a controller.
