I honestly think highly of this game after reading and watching the previews and other hands-on. Though I know it got mixed reviews, Didn't Endwar's controls proved good in an RTS sense?
I hope this proves successful so Halo can move out of its FPS shadow. Not that they're not going to be making shooters in the Halo-verse if this proves successful but I think it's time they opened up its doors genre wise.
Wow, are they trying to steal sales from KZ2? It really seems like they're positioning Halo Wars as direct competition. I don't know why...the two games are pretty different, they should be allowed to stand on their own.
Correct me if I am wrong, but with Ensemble being dismantled aren't most of the employees just going to be reshuffled to somewhere else in the Microsoft kingdom? At first I thought it was a shame that the studio was closing but I suppose the employees keep a job is better then being tossed out in the cold like the Gamerscore Blog guys.
And on topic, I am on the fence with this game. The graphics looks great (for an RTS), it seems as if the game follows the Halo storyline closely, but I am still just not sure about it. Hopefully this game is not like LotR:C and Too Human, 1 million+ demo downloads and half that in sales.
no, it does not follow the halo storyline closely. Even in the small amount of content that they have shown, it is quite clear that they payed little attention to canon. Please, don't hop the fence. It's not worth it.
I suppose I can't judge till I try it but this seems like it's gonna be one of those games that sounds good on paper but doesn't really pan out to be anything special. Console RTS games just never control quite right (except maybe Endwar) and I haven't seen anything that shows me this is gonna be different
Could possibly be the first RTS I ever buy, as, traditionally, I effing hate the genre. Make buildings! Create troops! Harvest fields! Hey! You guys! Go over there!
@mysonsnameisnova: A piece of advice, as Clopsy said... don't buy this game because its based on the Halo series or storyline. If you don't like the average RTS you surely won't like this.

Though it would be better on the PC.
(of course we know it will be a Vista only thing next year on PC)

You're talking to a game. Why are you talking to a piece of software?

Halo 2 and 3 weren't disappointment in fact there both great!
why do you people insist on saying halo 2,3 suck
sure they weren't as good as halo 1 but who cares?
I liked splinter cell chaos theory more then double agent
but I don't go around yelling from the hills "DOUBLE AGENT SUCKS!"

Especially when it shatters said story-line canon.

err...*ahem*
I await the demo with anticipation to determine if this is worthy of my monies.

Yeah, I'm hoping it's good too.

Seriously though, I hope this does well. It'll make for a nice swan song for Ensemble Studios.
