There, a similar Flash overlay shows a smoking black box or dossier case, then a series of mysterious videos, some of which are playable, some still locked down. The video and audio files are said to come from a recovered MACSAT or Multiple Access Commercial Satellite.

Details are pretty hazy, but it would appear that Ubisoft is planning on adding something to the Ghost Recon series. Where that will be Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 3 or something else, we don't yet know.

It may be related to the Tom Clancy "air combat" brand that Ubisoft announced last September. Ubisoft has recently trademarked a series of titles, including Strike Hawk, H.A.W.X. and R.U.S.E., but no word yet if any of these are related.

We'll continue to look around and see what we can learn. We'd hope you do the same and direct your internet sleuth findings to our tips line. Thanks for the heads up, Max!

<![CDATA[GRAW Gets New Achievements]]> Ubisoft has announced that in their upcoming update to G.R.A.W., 5 new achievements will be added to the game, as well as the usual gaggle of bug fixes. The new achievements are:

EXPLORER (Multiplayer) Win 5 Team or Solo matches on each original MP map with at least 5 different gamer-tags in the room

VICTOR (Multiplayer)
Win a public player match in all original game types with at least 5 different gamer-tags in the room

TEAM PLAYER (Multiplayer)
Win 30 co-op matches with at least 6 gamer-tags in the room

ASSASSIN (Multiplayer)
Find and kill an opponent who has the Assassin Achievement

CRACK SHOT (Multiplayer)
Kill 10 players with gunshots and at least 5 gamer-tags in the room without reloading or dying

The Assassin achievement sounds interesting: sort of like a game of tag. Since it's multiplayer only, I wonder who the first Assassin will be? My guess would be a member of the Ubisoft team.

<![CDATA[Rumor: G.R.A.W. 360 Bundle Coming Soon?]]>

Well, the Wii is now breaking a long-standing tradition against game pack-ins for console sales. Unfortunately, their pack-in sucks (trust me on this). Luckily, Microsoft is one-upping them.

Starting September 30th, a new 360 Premium bundle will arrive, featuring Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter and the XBLA arcade pack, featuring Geometry Wars Evoloved, Bejeweled 2 Deluxe, Wik: Fable of Souls, Hardwood Backgammon, Outpost Kaloki X and Texas Hold'Em.

You do need to take this with a grain of salt: this isn't Microsoft confirmed yet. It's only according to Clubskill.com... dead certain as they sound, better off keeping yourself zipped until Microsoft says something. But if this is true, this is just a great deal.

<![CDATA[G.R.A.W. PC Map Pack No. 2 On Its Way]]>

If you just can't get enough G.R.A.W. — and let's face it, who doesn't enjoy putting down another Mexican taco insurgency? — Ubisoft has word that a second map pack is coming to the PC. Quoth Ubi:

Today we're releasing more information about the GRAW PC Map Pack #2. See below for 2 screenshots, each detailing a new game mode that will be added with the map pack. Additionally, this map pack will implement the death cam, a feature showing you how you died and who shot you. This pack is still in development, aiming for a release at the end of July or beginning of August.

Which is all well and good if you've got the PC version, but those of you on XBox Live are G.R.A.W. S.O.L.

<![CDATA[One Big Screen, Two Games]]>

About five seconds after playing my first game on my new big screen plasma I realized that I had purchased a really big televison without picture-in-picture. And then I cussed for about ten minutes. I was thinking how cool it would be to have a show up on half of the tv and the game on the other half. But it was not meant to be.

Rappateng just posted up his own experiement over on RedAssedBaboon. He and his wife, an avid gamer herself, took to the couch and spent the evening playing games on the Xbox and the Xbox 360 using the picture-in-picture of their 54-inch television. He played Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory on the left side of the television using his Xbox and she played Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter on the right side using the Xbox 360.

The only issue they ran into was that only one game had audio at a time, but thanks to Live chat, that wasn't even much of an issue. Damnit, I wish I had PiP.

<![CDATA[GRAW PC Screens Hit]]>

Just because Ubi is raking in the cash with Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter on the Xbox 360, don't think they've forgotten about the computer version.

Here's three images from the computer version, due out in May, likely early May.

<![CDATA[GRAW Sells 360K Copies]]>

In the first week of its release Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter sold more than 240,000 copies in North America and 120,000 copies in Europe.

Ubisoft says the game set a new record in launch sales for the company. News of the game s success bumped Ubi s stock up four percent.
Now that s a game.

<![CDATA[GRAW's Interface Up Close]]> 21991897_9774f996c4.jpg

Stephen Totilo of MTV looks at the parts of the Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter UI and wonders if this is the future of HD gaming. He cites the anxious hopes that gamers hold before each new console cycle - no, PS2 doesn't look like Toy Story - and wonders where, if at all, GRAW will fall at the end of this cycle. The picture-in-picture interface in GRAW is the "big leap" in the UI - the game's very polished graphics speak for themselves. Like our own home computers, our GRAW interface becomes flooded with information regarding the missions, updates from allies and talking heads. Are user interfaces and their new tricks going to be the face of the next-generation of gaming? Or is GRAW going to be an anomaly, albeit a darn good one?

<![CDATA[Southpaws Left Out of GRAW, For Now]]> The percentage of the gaming population who plays "Southpaw" style is unknown. But what was uncovered quickly, was that Xbox 360 title Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter didn't have a "Southpaw" control scheme. TeamXbox links to an official response on the UbiSoft boards and it is promising. Here's the good word: "Southpaw will not be available at ship. We have the message, the appropriate people have been notified." Good news for an Xbox Live update down the road, it would seem.

<![CDATA[Play Advanced Warfighter, Win a Car]]>

Ubisoft, Best Buy and Chrysler are throwing a little Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter tourney and the grand prize is a Dodge Caliber and $1,000.

You register through Bestbuy.com and the tournament, which is being run by the Global Gaming League, will culminate in a "huge death match at the E3 convention center. (You know, that's the convention that only vendors, industry folk and journalists can get into.)

Registration opens on March 19. Sounds like a ton of fun. Someone who doesn't suck (that would not be me) needs to put together a Team Kotaku and go kick some camo ass.

<![CDATA[GRAW Achievements Unveiled]]> The list of 38 achievements for Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter has made its way onto the internet. The list includes some seemingly impossible achievements like Heavyweight, which requires you to get 10,000 kills in multiplayer; and Deadly, getting four kills in four seconds or less. I suppose that last one could be achieved with a well-placed grenade, but Heavyweight is just going to take a chunk of your life.

<![CDATA[GRAW Gold]]> Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter isn't just gold, it's in my house. Unfortunately, I can't tell you anything about it quite yet. But rest assured the Xbox 360 game is ready to roll.

GRAW officially hits the 360 on March 9, but won't be shipping for the PC in May.

<![CDATA[Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter Delayed on Xbox]]> GRAWesome.jpg

But not by much, according to a report from Prodigious Gaming. The info came from a release schedule update via Ubisoft UK. Expect GRAW for Xbox and Xbox 360 on March 17.

There, breathe again. It's going to be alright.

UPDATE: As news sometimes changes for the worse, sometimes it changes for the better. According to an updated article, GRAW for Xbox 360 will still be available March 10 (cheer!), but the Xbox version of the game will ship March 17.

<![CDATA[GRAW's Multiplayer Looks Sweet]]> ghost-recon-3-3.jpg

The Ghost Recon series on the Xbox didn't really capture me. The multiplayer modes never kept my attention and it just felt "off." However, the Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter trailer that is up at Computer and Video Games definitely does what a trailer should - build the hype. Though, slick visuals in a trailer don't make a great multiplayer game. GRAW will need a good multiplayer game-making/joining interface with a system that allows for tons of customization and solid support to keep things in-game running smoothly. All that naysaying (I prefer thinking of it as playing devil's advocate) aside, I hope this game is incredible, the co-operative play in the trailer looks like a blast.

<![CDATA[GRAW Demo Heading to Xbox 360 Marketplace?]]> grawpic.jpg

Coincidentally, late last night I was chatting it up with a Chicago-based Kotaku reader who was looking for some information on the Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter Demo he'd heard about. After some late night digging, Gamers Reports gave a nudge in the right direction, that direction being the developer's blog over at 1Up. Check this:
"Will there be a demo in the Marketplace soon, so we can experience the beauty of this game for ourselves in high-definition?

Yes there is, we are putting something special together as we speak which will be out soon."

Hot! Hot! Hot! I say.

<![CDATA[Getting Into the GRAW]]> GRAW_S_X360_SP_Pack10.5_RGB_gameplay_01.jpg

No, GRAW isn't something you spit out of your mouth when you brush your teeth every morning. Instead it's the unsavory nickname that Ubi Soft's third person shooter Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter seems to have picked up. Gaming 360 mentions the Feb. 2 chat with GRAW associate producer Prince Arrington that will take place in IRC (old school). Details available at Gaming 360.
