A secret so horrifying that we can't even embed it here.

I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet, so I will be purposefully vague. This is exactly the srot fo trailer that makes me want to pick up a game that I normally would have no interest in whatsoever. Way to market outside of the embed window, Capcom.

<![CDATA[The Bonus Round Ventures To Borderlands, Sings Ballad Of Gay Tony]]> In part three of our appearance on GameTrailers' Bonus Round, the panel of video game industry know-it-alls talks more about this season's biggest games, including Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony and Borderlands.

Obviously, this episode was filmed before I marathon played Borderlands for today's review of the Gearbox Software developed game, and well before Mr. Totilo will weigh in on Grand Theft Auto IV's second downloadable episode. See how young and naive we all were—me, Geoff Keighly, Michael Pachter and Tom Russo—in the era when these games were just a glimmer in our eyes.

<![CDATA[The Bonus Round Talks Brutal Legend, Assassin's Creed II]]> In the second portion of the newest Bonus Round discussion, Geoff Keighley, Michael Pachter, Tom Russo and I talk about two of this year's most anticipated games, Double Fine's Brutal Legend and Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed II.

If you thrive on cautious optimism and the soothing words of Wedbush Securities Michael Pachter, always available for reasoned debate with a dash of passion, make sure to watch. Now to support the Brutal Legend cause and get around to actually buying the thing.

<![CDATA[Fall's Biggest Games Discussed On The Bonus Round]]> Last week, we visited GameTrailers HQ to chat about fall's biggest games, from Uncharted 2 to Brutal Legend to New Super Mario Bros. Wii. This Bonus Round clip is the result of that visit.

Join me, Michael McWhertor, Geoff Keighley, Michael Pachter and Tom Russo as we shoot the shit about video games in part one of this episode. Just don't view hungry, or you're inevitably going to ingest a KFC Snacker or full bucket of original recipe chicken within the first two minutes. And it's quote possible that putting either of those things in your system could kill you.

<![CDATA[BioShock As A Bedtime Story]]> Destructoid and GameTrailers join forces to tell the horrifying story of BioShock in a kinder, gentler sort of way. Unlike the actual game, the ending is completely awesome.

Ashley Davis' dramatic reading of BioShock the Bedtime Story is compelling and moving, but ultimately serves only to underscore on terrible fact: no one reads me bedtime stories anymore. Forget live sex webcams. I want to start up a bedtime story live webcam service so no one has to spend another night falling asleep without story time.

<![CDATA[The Bonus Round Talks Motion Control Bundles, Vitality Sensors]]> In part three of our four part Bonus Round discussion, Geoff Keighley, Michael Pachter, Shane Satterfield and I wag our tongues about waggle controls. What's left to talk about? Plenty!

Pachter expresses his thoughts on the bundling opportunities for Project Natal and the Xbox 360, the cheaper PlayStation 3 with PlayStation Eye packed in, and the Wii Plus, the high-definition console he believes Nintendo will introduce some time next year. I talk about my interest in the Wii Vitality Sensor and do so with a straight face and genuine enthusiasm. No, really. Just watch!

But don't be scared by those grumpy looking faces when the video starts. We don't bite.

<![CDATA[A Look at Wet's High-Concept Rage Mode]]> When I saw WET earlier this year, one of the things I really liked about the action title was it's artistic rage mode. But it's kind of hard to properly explain the fast-paced, over-the-top mode. Fortunately, GameTrailers has our back.

<![CDATA[E3 Round Table: Third Party Developers]]> E3's just around the corner and that means it's time for a little Bonus Round round table.

This time, GameTrailers' Geoff Keighley, Game Informer's Andy McNamara, N'Gai Croal's N'Gai Croal and Kotaku's me sit down to chat third-party developers. What third-party developers are you eagerly awaiting news from?

<![CDATA[A Year in Review: The Top Game Trailers for 2008]]> As the year comes to a close let us all stop for a moment and reflect on the wonderful world of hype, marketing, and yes, game trailers.

When it comes to launching a successful title, game trailers are proving to be ever so more crucial. Today we honor the most successful trailers in terms of popularity of 2008 which were constructed by some of the hardest working video editors in the game industry.

<![CDATA[One More Bonus Round Before 2009]]>

What? One more Bonus Round plug?! You betcha! The fifth and final (and I mean it this time) segment features me, Giant Bomb's Ryan Davis and Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter talking about our consoles of the year, the PlayStation 3 in 2009 and maybe one more other item of interest that escapes me right now. See you next year, Geoff Keighley!

<![CDATA[Kotaku Does The Bonus Round: The Denouement]]>

This is it kids, the last chance to see me wax with Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter, Giant Bomb [insert title here] Ryan Davis and Bonus Round host Geoff Keighley about video games. We talk about video games, video games and, later, move on to video games before closing out with some video game discussion. Watch as I boil over with rage at the end of the episode when Keighley denies me my opportunity to rant about Ubisoft and its shovelware push in 2008. I'll get you for this, Keighley!!

<![CDATA[Our Bonus Round Assault Continues]]>

Following up on last week's installment of three video game obsessed nerds talking to the telegenic Geoff Keighley, this week's segment of the Bonus Round is lighter on sales talk, heavier on opinions.

Watch as we discuss our favorites from 2008 alongside our disappointments. We also wax about what sequels we want to see and our predictions for Spike TV game of the year. Oh, and don't miss my Care Bear Stare at 13:15.

<![CDATA[Kotaku Invades The Bonus Round]]>

The GameTrailers folks were kind enough to invite us on to the Geoff Keighley-hosted Bonus Round not too long ago, the first part of which went live this weekend. In it, we talk about video games!

The panel included the ever present Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan analysis fame, Ryan Davis from Giant Bomb and me of this site you're reading. The topic? The year in review, which starts off sales heavy — expect later segments to be less numbers focused and potentially more embarrassing.

Before anyone inquires or offer suggestions, I will note that I'm fairly certain I'd washed my hair within three of taping the episode. Give or take.

<![CDATA[GameTrailers Editors Rail On ESRB Over Fallout 3 Fallout]]> Of all the smacktalk that goes on in the video game industry, we didn't expect these two parties to have a go at each other. Between developers, studio heads and console manufacturers — and occasionally community director versus producer — there's plenty of fodder for mudslinging fun. The most recent episode of GameTrailers' "Invisible Walls" podcast, however, is just kind of a bum out. It touches on a recent request from the ESRB to various media outlets, including GameTrailers, that they pull any and all Fallout 3 trailers.

In GameTrailers case, that means even stuff the MTV-owned media outlet creates, not just the stuff Bethesda Softworks provides.

GameTrailers editor-in-chief Shane Satterfield, perhaps still a bit sore over the unusual request, likens the ESRB to "the frickin' Mafia," saying on the video podcast the ratings board's actions are part of a "power trip."

His partner in podcasting "Grumpy" is a little less diplomatic (and far more wordy), saying "They are a body made up of unqualified nincompoops. Unfortunately, they're taking the nanny state to the nth degree. They make the FCC look like a bunch of broad-minded, non-censorship individuals."

The only reasoning provided by the ratings board was that the Fallout 3 content should be pulled “in connection with ESRB's advertising guidelines." Print ads for Fallout 3 were pulled earlier in the year amid concerns that seeing Washington DC destroyed by a nuclear disaster were, you know, scary. No confirmation from the ESRB if the potential for bed-wetting nightmares was at the cause of this particular media whitewashing.

<![CDATA[The Warcraft Retrospective - From Utopia To Adventures]]>
Gametrailers has just launched part one of their in-depth look at everything Warcraft, The Warcraft Retrospective. It's a comprehensive look at the origins of the Blizzard property, and when I say comprehensive I mean they go back to the original real-time strategy game, Don Daglow's 1982 game Utopia for the Intellivision, through Warcraft 1 & 2, and even feature footage from the abandoned Warcraft Adventures game. So entertaining and informative that I almost forgot to set this post live.

<![CDATA[8-Bit Office: Inside GameTrailers' New Office]]> Way back before E3, during a visit to LA, I sat down with N'Gai Croal, Stephen Totilo and Geoff Keighley to talk about what was to come. After taping four segments, which were later aired in the lead up to E3, we were invited to go check out GameTrailers spanky new offices.

The offices, technically for Spike Digital Entertainment and GT, were actually still in the decoration stage of things. A team of artists were wallpapering and painting every square inch of the place with splashes of color, style and culture. Among the pop video game references I noticed were a Mario and Luigi, some Space Invaders, Billy Mitchell (complete with a bottle of hot sauce) and a Gears of War cog. In fact there were way too many references for me to list, so instead I took a bunch of pictures. See how many you can find and if you're into office pics than you have to check out our MASSIVE compilation of Work and Play photos of some of the top people in gaming.

<![CDATA[UPDATE: My Half Whole-Assed Attempt to Give You the Resident Evil 5 Trailer]]>

OK, after much teeth gnashing, I realized that the trailer referenced in Gametrailers TV super-galactic exclusive show last night is actually available unto itself at, naturally, Gametrailers. So there it is.

But the countdown has stopped at Capcom's official Resident Evil 5 site , so the site has fully launched. You can catch the trailer there, and check out other eye candy for the game. That is all.

<![CDATA[Dead Space: Glimpses of Outer Space Carnage]]> Gametrailers put up this, the second teaser of Dead Space which releases October for the PS3 and 360. It's a backstory trailer, which justifies your reasons for hanging out in outer space with a bunch of rejects from the casting call to "The Mist," while dressed like Boba Fett stuffed into a radiator. I mock it because I doubt I'd play this more than 30 minutes without getting up to pace the room. Creepy games make me edgy as hell.

<![CDATA[Gametrailers Blows It with PS3/360 Footage]]> So I poked the console-wars snake last week and learned a big Fat Albert lesson about people's feelings in the process. Gametrailers, with a longer history than me, not so much.

We've been hearing a lot of chatter about how they botched a comparison video of Race Driver: GRID. In an attempt to show cooler crash physics on the 360, they used PS3's instead — easily identifiable by the controller map in the lower left corner. Doh!

Gametrailers took down the video after getting barbecued in the comment flamewar. But someone already YouTubed it and spliced in comments pointing out the negligence, or worse.

Anyway, here you go. Just shows that console comparison is absolutely the third rail discussion in our neck of the woods. And if you undertake it, everything has to be bulletproof, or you'll get ripped for looking like a shill.

<![CDATA[Trailer: Meet the Scout]]>
Another highly entertaining "Meet the" video for Team Fortress 2 is up at Gametrailers. Here we get acquainted with the Scout, who has kind of a Kevin Bacon mien about him. Just one thing, why does everyone have to pick on Heavy when he's eating? Real freakin' original there, Scout. Let him enjoy his sandwich, willya?
