Soulcalibur IV Breaks Street Part II: Gameplay Video

Yesterday we posted pictures of guys who got their hands on Soulcalibur IV, 10 days before its release date of July 29. Today, we have video. I guess you can just walk into any store and ask them to break the street date and get your game. Here's Yoda vs. Ivy, Yoda taking it 4-1 with a lot of button mashing and bad camera work. If the game looks repetitive, I think these guys' admittedly bad technique (" I hadn't played a Soul Calibur title since Soul Calibur 2 a couple years ago, so our match is pretty bad.") might be to blame, not the game. If any of you manage to snag this, we'd appreciate a more informed breakdown of gameplay in the comments.

CoD: World At War Debuts On GameTrailers TV Friday

It's time to remember which channel Spike TV is on your cable box this Friday as GameTrailers TV features a world-exclusive first look at the next game in the Call of Duty series, Call of Duty: World at War. Developed by the people's second choice for CoD Treyarch, the game promises to redefine the WWII genre, which I really need to see to believe.

"Considering the incredible reception our hardcore gamer audience has given the GT Diamond Award-winning Call of Duty franchise, we are confident that they'll go crazy for this never-before-seen footage from Call of Duty: World at War," said Geoff Keighley, host of GTTV. "We are thrilled that Activision turned to GTTV to unveil this exclusive, reinforcing GameTrailers' tradition of bringing fans the best quality and most sought-after content."

This week's episode also features footage from The Lord of the Rings: Conquest and some sort of exclusive Star Wars dealie from LucasArts. As always, GameTrailers TV airs Friday night at 1am Eastern time.

UPDATE: My Half Whole-Assed Attempt to Give You the Resident Evil 5 Trailer

OK, after much teeth gnashing, I realized that the trailer referenced in Gametrailers TV super-galactic exclusive show last night is actually available unto itself at, naturally, Gametrailers. So there it is.

But the countdown has stopped at Capcom's official Resident Evil 5 site , so the site has fully launched. You can catch the trailer there, and check out other eye candy for the game. That is all.

Resident Evil 5 Trailer Outbreak This Friday

If you're looking for a reason to continue your existence until at least late Friday night, be aware that the new trailer for Resident Evil 5—rumored to feature Chris Redfield's sidekick—will be debuting on GameTrailers TV this weekend. In addition to that, we'll also get a peek at EA's Facebreaker and an updated look at LucasArt's Fracture, which seems to have received one more facelift. The GT TV promo teases it all.

Dead Space: Glimpses of Outer Space Carnage

Gametrailers put up this, the second teaser of Dead Space which releases October for the PS3 and 360. It's a backstory trailer, which justifies your reasons for hanging out in outer space with a bunch of rejects from the casting call to "The Mist," while dressed like Boba Fett stuffed into a radiator. I mock it because I doubt I'd play this more than 30 minutes without getting up to pace the room. Creepy games make me edgy as hell. More »

New RE5 Trailer Debuting On GameTrailers TV May 30th

Former Kotaku guest editor turned television host Geoff Keighley dropped us a line earlier to let us know that a brand-spanking-new trailer for Resident Evil 5 would be debuting on Friday the 30th (or early Saturday depending on time zone) on Spike TV's GameTrailers TV. The new trailer shall be comprised of both cutscenes as well as gameplay footage, promising to offer more hints at the mystery facing Chris Redfield. Perhaps the trailer will also offer some insight into some of the images revealed in Famitsu earlier this week. Mark it on your calendars folks, Friday, May 30th at 1amET/PT.

Now that I actually have cable television once again I'll finally be able to feel really bad about missing it instead of being able to fall back on the no cable excuse.

Gametrailers Blows It with PS3/360 Footage

So I poked the console-wars snake last week and learned a big Fat Albert lesson about people's feelings in the process. Gametrailers, with a longer history than me, not so much.

We've been hearing a lot of chatter about how they botched a comparison video of Race Driver: GRID. In an attempt to show cooler crash physics on the 360, they used PS3's instead — easily identifiable by the controller map in the lower left corner. Doh!

Gears 2 Gameplay Footage Hits May 9

Jonesing for your first taste of Gears of War 2 gameplay footage? Fortunately you don't have too long to wait.

Gametrailers TV just secured themselves the first in-game footage from the game. The bad news? It won't be airing until May 9 at 1 a.m. The good news? The footage, which features Marcus Fenix, includes a special introduction by bunny-loving Epic game designer Cliff Bleszinski.

Trailer: Meet the Scout

Another highly entertaining "Meet the" video for Team Fortress 2 is up at Gametrailers. Here we get acquainted with the Scout, who has kind of a Kevin Bacon mien about him. Just one thing, why does everyone have to pick on Heavy when he's eating? Real freakin' original there, Scout. Let him enjoy his sandwich, willya? More »

Resistance 2 Teaser Trailer Hits Tonight

It sounds like tonight's episode of GameTrailer's TV with Geoff Keighley is going to be a must watch. Not only will they be showing the first gameplay footage of Yoda and Darth Vader as playables in Soul Calibur IV, but they will be premiering the teaser trailer for Resistance 2 from Insomniac Games.

The show will also include the latest trailer for Midway's TNA iMPACT!: The Videogame, a Don King hosted bit of footage from Don King Presents Prizefighter and a look at some new gameplay from the Bourne Conspiracy.

The show airs tonight at midnight... or is that tomorrow morning at midnight? It will also be popping up on GameTrailers.com and the Xbox Live Marketplace.

Resistance 2 Trailer This Friday? Uh. Yes!

Will we get our first proper look at Resistance 2 for the PlayStation 3 this week? I'm going with "definitely maybe." "yes." GameTrailers TV host Geoff Keighley teases on his blog that the April 11 episode will feature "something special from our friends at Insomniac Games and Sony Computer Entertainment", one of seven exclusives Keighley boasts about.

The rumored/leaked PlayStation Store release list we got a glimpse at recently lists the Resistance 2 trailer as arriving in store on April 15, the day of the PSN revamp. Consider it ((very) hopeful) speculation on my part, but keep your eyes peeled for an official announcement. Fingers locked in X-formation until Friday.

Update: And there's the confirmation! This week's GameTrailers TV features not just a Resistance 2 teaser, but Soulcalibur IV in-game action with Vader and Yoda, plus loads of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

A Look Back at the Games of Star Wars

GameTrailers just put up their first episode in a ten-part look at the history of Star Wars video games. While it takes awhile to get going, once they do start talking about the games, it gets pretty interesting looking at such classics as the Atari 2600 retro pack Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars Arcade in its vector graphics goodness and Star Wars Jedi Arena on the 2600.

McWhertor Invades GameTrailers TV

That's right folks, our very own fashion plate and international male model Michael McWhertor made an appearance on the most recent edition of GameTrailers TV. Along with host and former Kotaku guest editor Geoff Keighley, McW discusses the upcoming Xbox 360 games of 2008 and how they will compare with last year's blockbuster line-up. Clicking the link below will take you right to the show featuring our most esteemed colleague.

Gametrailers TV Featuring McWhertor

Guess Who's On GameTrailers TV Tonight? Just me, Michael McWhertor, unfortunately. If you're up late on a Friday and want to watch a sweater-off between me and GT TV host Geoff Keighley, one in which we occasionally wax about the big games of 2008, tune into Spike TV at 1 AM. Oh, it's so worth staying up for, especially if my statements about Xbox 360 furries haven't been left on the cutting room floor. Bold predictions and regrettable assumptions, plus fodder for mocking my opinions and fashion choices, will make for a great way to kill some AM hours. Don't miss it! Or do! Whatever!

GameTrailers TV Debuts Tonight. GameHead is dead. Long live GT TV! The Geoff Keighley hosted video game show makes its triumphant debut tonight at the wee hour of 1 AM on Spike TV. The gang will be exclusively showing off Tiberium and Dark Sector in addition to broadcasting some drunken arcade gaming from LA's Barcade. If you're short on energy and trucker speed, the show will be available soon on Xbox Live and Gametrailers.com.

Game Head Ends, GameTrailers TV Begins

After two and a half years as the best thing to watch if you were home sick on a Friday night without anything better to do, Spike TV's Game Head is ending its run, but fear not for former Kotaku Geoff Keighley. He returns to the network triumphantly in January as the host of GameTrailers TV, and he's bringing along a posse with him. GameTrailers.com's Daniel Kayser and Amanda MacKay will be joining Geoff on the new show, which will feature event coverage, news, and of course, world premier video game trailers.

"I think of it as Game Head on steroids because we'll have more resources and coverage," Keighley says. "It broadens the events we can cover around the country and the world."
Visitors to the GameTrailers website will be able to upload questions before the shows that might be included in the show itself, giving the whole thing a sort of ghetto interactivity that really makes me miss G4TV.com. GameTrailers TV premiers January 25th in that awesome 1am time slot.

GameTrailers Covers E For All

Adding to their stellar lineup of Electronic Arts, Konami, Nintendo, and a slew of companies you could care less about, IDG World Expo has just introduced two brand new exhibitors to the E For All Expo hall. GameTrailers and Xfire now join the ranks of the few, the proud, the actually showing up. The two MTV brands will be bringing the show home in true GameTrailers style, with interviews of industry insiders, videos of events, and on-location shoots of GT originals Bonus Round and Game One. The brands have contests and promotions lined up for the event, including ticket giveaways for those too cheap to pay for a ticket. This is great news for the gaming press and the gaming community in general, as it pretty much means we can sit home and watch GameTrailers' coverage instead of actually attending. Huzzah! More »

Rare Talks Banjo Threeie, Viva Piata Future

The GameTrailers folks caught up with Rare concept artist Ryan Stevenson at DICE to talk about the past, present and future of Rare. This... err, rare interview with one of the team members goes into little detail about the next Banjo Kazooie outing and the follow up to Viva Pi ata, but does touch on the topic of life at Rare following the departure of founders Chris and Tim Stamper. Watch as Stevenson deftly avoids directs answers, offering only hints at the company's upcoming games. More »
