You know which magazine I miss? Game Players. Har har har. I loved that magazine. Of course, I was in middle school during its height, so, you know.
*ed um, i should clarify that the reason i said that is because that image of the review system above reminded me of that era. I miss the glory days of print. I read those magazines 'til they fell apart- Game Players, GamePro, and EGM.
*ed ALSO! I loved John Davison at OPM. I'd actually pick up a copy of Gamepro at retail now knowing he's involved.
I'm happy that Garnett found something better to move on to, but I think it's better that this happened. Listen up has pretty much been utter shit lately.
Bottom line, it's fantastic that all my faves from that groundbreaking podcast are doing rather well for themselves. Life goes on and hopefully someone steps up and makes a podcast as fun as 1up yours and the 1up Show used to be.
Oh and John Davidson doing Gamepro? That's mindblowing. I may actually have to stop calling that mag unmentionable things in respectable company.
"What They Play to IGN, will assume the role of executive vice president of content for the company's editorial initiatives in an attempt, the veteran editor described to Kotaku as an effort to "re-boot" one of gaming's oldest editorial brands."
I know what you're trying to say, but it could have been said better. That last sentence is tough on the brain. Sounds like it was rewritten without being cleaned up.
@pappasman: This makes me sad. I've been listening to upyours/listen up for a few years now.
All I know is wherever Garnett goes, I'll be following. Hopefully he can still make a podcast with Davison--maybe even get Shane back into the game. (so to speak)
Ever since Shane left, the podcast hasn't been the same, leaving Jon and Garnett trying to keep some semblance of professionalism amongst what I've seen as questionable replacements for their ever-changing two extra seats.
Besides Kotaku, Listen up is/was the best podcast out there.
@Stephen Totilo: By the way Stephen, Kotaku talk radio's 9/30 episode was one of the best yet. You guys are really starting to get comfortable, and it shows.
Also, I think you should make Jon Q. Public a guaranteed weekly caller. Have a short segment with him or something. I didn't agree at all with him last week, but it's like he's become part of the show.

Jason Ocampo Left, Jeremy Dunham Left, and their whole "Console Teams" thing has gone away.
