Now if Sega only put this much effort into making a decent console 2D Sonic (I'm aware of Project Needlemouse) and into giving the Yakuza series a stronger market and presence in the U.S. then we'll be fine.
@Atheist Jew: Oh, I know. My problem was I didn't think to realize that this wasn't the developing part of Sega. I meant no disrespect, but if it was seen as such. I do apologize.
Still, it's nice to see a civil atmosphere in there. Especially with everyone cleaning it up afterwards. If it was all in my office, everyone would mess it up and have me clean it up afterwards :-/ #gameinformer

I don't know, Owen, if you cannonballed into that you'd probably get the sickening grease of paid-off review scores, bad journalism and bias all over you.
Sticky, icky, icky. Not good. Yuck. You'd have to shower for like 8 hours straight to get it off of you.

@Terance! - In Before What My Message Says: Game Informer is one of the worst-written magazines out there. The articles reek of favoritism, they focus almost entirely on Western-made titles, they practically have a marketing deal with Activision to hype the fuck out of every game they make...
Their reviewers are TERRIBLE, worst of all. They don't review games based on their actual quality, they review them based on how well they think they're going to sell, or worse, how much GameStop, the owner of the magazine WANTS them to sell.
The only reason to read the magazine is for the exclusive reveals, but at this rate even THOSE can be found online the day the magazine goes live. The only reason it has any market penetration at all is because GameStop shoves it down every customer's gullet.
Hopefully Crackdown 2 is better than the first. Just like Zone of the Enders and the Metal Gear Solid demo, Crackdown with forever be remembered as the game that came with the Halo 3 beta.
i am really disappointed that Sony decided to walk away from the Heavenly Sword franchise. it was beautiful and a lot of fun. a really one-of-a-kind game within it's genre. to be honest, i'm not super excited about a multiplatform "post-apocalyptic" new game from this team... but i'll hope for the best- since i know that these guys are great at what they do. i hope it's a brawler of some sort, at least. and i hope it has high production value like their last game.
i have zero interest in anything that the Crackdown team has to offer, though.
@laser beams: Sony can make a new Heavenly Sword whenever they want since they own the IP, and I am guessing that there i aways a solid chance to pass it to Santa Monica studio after God of War 3 comes out. HS was a critical success and if they made it greatest hits the frst would get a decent sales boost.
@Makidian: i know that Sony owns the license- but they've said in the past that they don't have any further plans for the series (on top of the fact that they've apparently dropped any future development plans with Ninja Theory).
While i agree that if anyone could do justice to the original it would be team Santa Monica- i also know that they have seen far too much success with God of War to ever bother picking up an old abandoned franchise from an earlier developer. i expect that we'll see something completely new from them after God of War III.
Your idea for Sony to reissue Heavenly Sword under the greatest hits line is a very good one (and FAR overdue). it would certainly get a lot of sales from new PS3 owners who missed out back in 2007- and it's probably the best way to show Sony that a potentially huge number of players are still interested in a sequel.
Heavenly Sword was overproduced garbage. I'm willing to accept that there was some difficulty in being a fairly early PS3 game but it still doesn't forgive the monumental flaws. Not expecting anything good from their followup.
@Nobuyuki: I must inquire, which monumental flaws are you speaking of? Was it the large scale of the battles, or the (optional) usage of the sixaxis? Maybe it was the dramatic story or superbly acted cinematics. Maybe you mean the technical issues, such as the fairly consistent framerate, strong draw distance, or minimal load times? Perhaps the gameplay, with its mix of different fighting stances, counter-focused combat or cinematic QTE's?
Certainly the wonderfully developed characters of the story alone were enough to denounce the entire thing; why, when it appeared Kai had been hung from her neck I didn't feel the slightest bit of shock, sadness and horror.
I only ask because there are so many faults that I just cannot pinpoint where your grievances are.

Sega of America doesn't develop, they publish, market and perform QA.
And we NEVER did this sort of thing when I was there in 2007, so I guess their administrators pulled the fucking stick out finally. GOOD JOB, GUYS!
