Of all the people to put [sic] in somebody's quote but still contain a typo in their own article I never thought it would be you, Stephen. I AM DISAPPOINTED. =p
@Vecha: Mercs 1 was enjoyable, mercs 2 not so much. And no, Mercs 2 didn't sell well at all. I think they sold somewhere in the 200,000's and the break even number on that game was 700,000 copies from what I heard. #speakup
"We are very excited to announce a new instalment [sic] in the popular Mercenaries series because it demonstrates our continued commitment to Pandemic's rich catalogue of intellectual properties,"
just not to Pandemic the studio or the people who worked there.
@Phaper: I more see it as EA shutting them down, as they weren't happy with the quality of previous games, and developing the games (Which EA owns, I think) in house.
However, BF Heroes is relatively tame in its visual presentation. There are no huge explosions nor many (or any?) interactive environmental elements.
I think the pitch trailer for this game demonstrates a visual package that is possibly beyond what the average PC could handle in a multiplayer environment.
@NeVeRMoRe666: Probably just a typo. The very next paragraph says it's being developed by a core group of former Pandemic employees, who are now at EALA.
@Outkastprince: I thought that of the first one, but not of the second one. I tried so hard to like the second one but it just didn't do it for me unfortunately.
@ttocs: No? It's not easy to love the game, especially if mindless enemy skull cracking games aren't for you.
It doesn't hold your attention for long and the price tag doesn't help it's case. If they could lowered this new one to maybe $30 maybe 40 bucks, I'd considered it just cause I'm a fan.
Any higher in price and the majority of gamers won't choose this over the quality of video games out there.
@Yossarian: It's sort of a code you must input on your arm to unlock.
Skull Trick.
1. Find Street Fighter code on website.
2. Make sure your arm is tattoo free.
3. Search for a local illegal tattoo parlor.
4. Make sure you and the one giving you the tattoo are drunk.
5. Give him your arm and make sure he's so f**cked up the code ends up backwards.
6. Skullz Unlocked.
As strong as your character is, death brings about the creation of an equally strong zombie. But instead of having to create a new account, you simply create another survivor on the same account. A neat little twist: You can always log in as your zombie and see what the hell it's doing out there, knowing where it is, who it has killed, and so on. But you cannot "fully" control it. Give each account the ability to have three characters total. If all three of your survivors become zombified, you have to wait until one of your zombies gets killed by another survivor before you can be a survivor again.
This creates a constant user-generated zombie population. Each zombie can of course infect other survivors, creating minions. In other words, your character could end up becoming the progenitor of an entire bloodline of zombies, and become a boss monster.

If they incorporate elements of that incredible-sounding yet publisherless RTS zombie game Possession, this could be great. Seems like it would be a lot slower-paced than L4D, not a bad thing at all because that stresses me out something fierce. But still, I've got no time for MMOs :(
You know what would make this the definitive zombie experience? If they followed the Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks, or War World Z. I would buy it and a lifetime subscription if they did without even thinking about it.
So I'm imagining something akin to The Walking Dead. It could be really neat, like a lot of people said though, how do you end it?? An MMO is all about never ending gameplay, if the point is to survive, then what happens when you do?
Back to The Walking Dead though. Could you imagine you know going from a small safehouse, to eventually being able to get in a prison and hold it down. Now what if like in the comic the worst enemies are not really the zombies, but the humans that are out to capture that same safe spot and or supplies that you have. Could be fairly interesting if you ask me and one of the first MMO's I would actually pay for. Guess I'll just wait and see what comes out of it. I mean really a console MMO? from a dev team noone knows of? hmmmm...
@Disturbedmofo42: They should reset the game once a year, or every six months. Thus allowing a world that is open to change, as well as not becoming too self-involved that new players can't join.
@thespyderboy: Yea that would make it a lot easier for new players to join the fold. I will start anticipating this game when they actually show something...
@pandafresh: Apart, no; however, the combination of the two concepts result in a blast of sheer awesomeitude so powerful that it'd knock you on your ass with a smile plastered to your face.
Finally. FINALLY. I dont know why this hasn't been picked up years ago!
I always found myself yearning for a MMOZAS- Massively Multiplayer Online Zombie Apocalypse Simulator. C'mon people, Massively Mutliplayer Online Zombie isn't grammatically correct. Gamers might be able to bend the rules of English, but lets be reasonable!
Anyways. I hope they have special zombies, like the more people you kill and infect gives you more power and allows to get abilities. Increased speed, jump height, health, zombie vision (allows to sense where survivors are), and strength.
Also, I hope survivors can build shelters- reinforce windows, build fences, automatic turrets, surveillance systems... Its easy to have a class system for survivors- Electronics Expert, Handyman, Marine, Medic, etc.

Now they gut pandemic and decide to continue making there game.
At what point will people realize they should never ever partner with EA?

It will be a sad day in game history if anything like that happens to Bioware.
