He returns to the network triumphantly in January as the host of GameTrailers TV, and he's bringing along a posse with him. GameTrailers.com's Daniel Kayser and Amanda MacKay will be joining Geoff on the new show, which will feature event coverage, news, and of course, world premier video game trailers.

"I think of it as Game Head on steroids because we'll have more resources and coverage," Keighley says. "It broadens the events we can cover around the country and the world."
Visitors to the GameTrailers website will be able to upload questions before the shows that might be included in the show itself, giving the whole thing a sort of ghetto interactivity that really makes me miss G4TV.com. GameTrailers TV premiers January 25th in that awesome 1am time slot.

<![CDATA[Watch Me, Some Other People On Game Head Tonight]]> Tonight's episode of Game Head features, according to the show's producers, "the best cast in the Universe." A bold claim, indeed, but when that group includes Newsweek's N'Gai Croal, ESPN's Aaron Boulding, the Mega 64 gang, Gizmodo's Adam Frucci, MTV's Stephen Totilo, Michael Pachter and I am 8-Bit Founder Jon Gibson, I find it hard to disagree. Unfortunately, the list also includes me, a weighty anchor who will drag the whole production down. If my performance on the episode requires defending, as I haven't seen it, I was drunk during the taping.

The show will run on Spike TV tonight, at midnight in most markets, giving viewers a primer on Sunday's airing of the 2007 Video Game Awards. Check your local listings and all that.

<![CDATA[Game Head Takes On Thompson Tonight]]> Tonight on Spike TV's Game Head, the man forever to be known as former Kotaku guest editor Geoff Keighley will be taking on everyone's favorite and possibly former Florida lawyer in a bit of debate from this year's VGXpo in Philadelphia. The show promises a look at the real JT...his cause, his opposition, and "what his son's friends in high school say about him". Intriguing! With the fate of JT's professional career hanging in the balance at the moment his time in the spotlight might be waning, so you really should get as much Jack in your system as you can, just in case. That could be taken multiple ways, and most likely should be. You have to be up at 1am Eastern to catch the show anyway, so you might as well party.

<![CDATA[EA's Dead Space Gets an Airing]]> deads2.jpg

Tonight's, tomorrow morning's, episode of Game Head will be packed to the gills with details on the upcoming Simpsons game, including a sit down in The Simpsons writers' room at Gracie Films with Matt Selman, Time Long and Matt Warburton to discuss the more than 8,000 lines of talk that went into making the game funny.

More importantly, perhaps, the show will be premiering the first footage of EA's Dead Space.

<![CDATA[First Look At EA's Marvel Fighter Tonight On Game Head]]> Can EA Chicago's Marvel Comics character fighting game succeed where Rise of the Imperfects failed? Tonight we'll get a chance to start forming an opinion on that matter as Spike TV's Game Head runs a special segment tonight featuring the world's first look at the game.

Smash! Boom! Plat! It's another huge Game Head World Exclusive! Tonight, EA Chicago pulls back the curtains on its new Marvel Fighting Game for the first time anywhere. See Juggernaut versus Captain America and so much more! And watch as EA puts Game Head host Geoff Keighley right in the middle of the action. From the team behind the Def Jam and Fight Night titles, EA Chicago brings massive destruction and whole hearted fun to the next generation.
Apparently they've put Keighley into the game, complete with facial mapping and voice overs. Completely not fair. Where's my custom Crecente character that an summon birds from his clothing? Hit up Spike TV's website for scheduled times near you.]]>

<![CDATA[BioShock Trailer Premiers Sunday On Spike TV]]> While it seems to me there have been no end of BioShock trailers like this one or this one or this one, 2K Games has one last trailer for their spooky underwater adventure in store for us. The catch? We have to tune in to Spike TV on the night of Sunday the 12th to see it. All I can say is this had better be a damn fine piece of video game commercial film for me to want to take time out of my busy Sunday schedule of sitting around on my ass to flip the channel to Spike at 9PM Eastern to watch for 60 seconds. They'd need something like a surprise announcement from Game Head's Geoff Keighley for that to happen.

In addition, the trailer debut will close with a surprise announcement by Game Head's Geoff Keighley. You won't want to miss this!

<![CDATA[Kotaku Unlocks The Bonus Round, Part II]]>

Last week, the Bonus Round featured a round table discussion between Chris Grant from Joystiq, Ron Workman from Destructoid and myself from the site you're currently reading. In this week's installment we focus on something called "ethics"—no idea what that is, but I play along—and the future of blogging. The most embarrassing part is when my nerves finally get the best of me and I vomit my "everything" bagel on Workman's lap. Still very sorry about that, Ron! Also, there's a streaker who sprints across the stage at about the 19 minute mark. Don't miss it!

<![CDATA[Game Head Gets Naughty]]> drakeskull.JPG If you're psyched about Naughty Dog's upcoming fun-to-play shooter, Uncharted Drake's Fortune, then you better catch tonight's Game Head, which will be hosted at the developer's studio and focus on the game itself. I'm also told that the Call of Duty 4 E3 trailer will get an airing (which is an absolute must see) and a preview of the new, bloodier Turok. Finally, they will be airing in-game footage of The Bourne Conspiracy.

<![CDATA[New Transformers Game Trailer Tonight]]>

Tonight's Game Head sounds like it will be a doozie. Not only will they have another Kotaku On... segment (this time dealing with fanboys), but the show will have a new 90 second trailer for Transformers: The game and the first footage for All Pro Football 2K8 and none other than Anthony Daniels being all C3PO-ie.

<![CDATA[The Last Remnant On Game Head Tonight]]> Tonight's episode of Game Head on SpikeTV promises a "broadcast exclusive" look at Square-Enix's newest IP, The Last Remnant. The PLAYSTATION 3 and Xbox 360 role-playing game was announced recently as the first Square-Enix title to take advantage of the Unreal Engine 3 platform, so I expect pretty graphics and even prettier cinematics.

That's 1 AM tonight (or extremely early tomorrow morning) if you're planning on staying up or scheduling tonight's Tivo recording.

Rumor has it that the new Chronicles of Riddick game for the PS3 and Xbox 360 that we've been hearing rumblings about all month will be unveiled during tonight's episode of Game Head. I've heard that the show will feature some details as well as some possible footage.

Officially the show will also be showing off some Pirates of the Caribbean Wii play, more on the Simpsons game and Resident Evil goodness. If you're interested I'd check it out at 1 a.m.

HaloBungie.Org points out that Game Head will be airing a special Halo 3 episode this week that includes a bunch of interviews at Bungie's headquarters. The episode will be released to coincide with this Friday's big Halo 3 blow out in San Francisco. An event I will be attending and writing about just as quickly as I can.

<![CDATA[Valve Blow-Out On Game Head]]> This Friday night (technically very early Saturday morning) at 1 AM, the kids from Game Head will be visiting Valve to check out the latest on Team Fortress 2, Portal and Half-Life 2 Episode 2. Who in their right mind wouldn't watch this?

They've also promised us a new look at Factor 5's dragon game Lair and EA's Tony Hawk competitor Skate.

If you can't stay up until the wee hours or smash your DVR in frustration prior to airing, I'm sure they'll have clips up soon. Everything's gonna work out just fine.

<![CDATA[Midway Challenges You To Do Woo]]> It's a great time to be an amateur film / television producer with interest in the game industry. First Microsoft throws an Xbox Live TV pilot competition, and now Midway announces Stranglehold's True to John Woo Short Film Contest. This MySpace exclusive contest challenges budding filmmakers to create a film of no greater than two and a half minutes that pays homage to the king of balletic violence.

Simply film your two-minute long, slow motion, dual-wielding-Berettas while diving through a cloud of doves in a hospital masterpiece and send it in to be judged by June 25th for a chance to win $25,000, a trip to Chicago to meet the developers of the game, a copy of said game, a movie poster (woo) signed by John Woo (<--), an Amp'd mobile phone, and a chance to appear on Spike TV and Gamehead.

That leaves just weeks for you perfect your shooting while leaping technique, not to mention determining how to keep a gun sideways whie spinning through the air. They'll take off points if you screw that up.

Midway Announces Stranglehold 's True to John Woo Short Film Contest on MySpace

$25,000 Grand Prize Winner to be Selected by Acclaimed Director John Woo and Planned to Premiere on Spike TV This Summer

CHICAGO—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Midway Games Inc. (NYSE: MWY), a leading interactive entertainment publisher and developer today announced a groundbreaking video submission contest in association with John Woo and his video game production company, Tiger Hill Entertainment, Spike TV and Fox Interactive Media: Stranglehold's True to John Woo Short Film Contest. Hosted exclusively on MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/strangleholdgame), and promoted across other Fox Interactive Media properties including IGN Entertainment (http://ign.com/stranglehold), this unique contest is scheduled to launch April 30th and encourages contestants to create the most authentic John Woo-style short film. Contest ends June 25, 2007. No purchase necessary.

The grand prize winner will receive $25,000, a trip for two to Midway's Chicago studios to meet developers and tape an interview for Spike TV, the chance to personally premiere the short film on Spike TV, an authentic "Hard Boiled" movie poster autographed by John Woo, an Amp'd mobile phone with six months' service, and a copy of Stranglehold.(a)

"Stranglehold's cinematic action is directly inspired by John Woo's acclaimed action films and their unique style," said Mona Hamilton, vice president of marketing, Midway Amusement Games, LLC. "Young filmmakers need encouragement to grow; it is an aspect of my profession which I cherish deeply," said action director John Woo. "I know the Stranglehold Short Film Contest will find new talent and with it, new possibilities."

In addition to the premiere on Spike TV expected this summer, both the game release and short film winner will be a featured segment on "Game Head," Spike TV's weekly series dedicated to everything that is happening in the world of video games, giving viewers an uncompromised look at the culture of video games.

Additionally, the films of ten finalists are expected to be posted on MySpace, with user voting determining a second "audience choice" winner, who will receive prizes including $1000, an Amp'd mobile phone with six months' service, an authentic "Hard Boiled" movie poster autographed by John Woo and a copy of Stranglehold.(a) Fans will also be able to learn more about the game, the contest and the art of John Woo's filmmaking by visiting both the Stranglehold contest profile on MySpace, and an exclusive IGN micro site dedicated to the game (http://www.ign.com/stranglehold).

<![CDATA[Clip: Jaffe Drops the F-Bomb(s)]]>

Geoff Keighley sits down with David Jaffe for an interesting one-on-one in Game Head's most recent Bonus Round. As usual, Keighley manages to get his interviewee out of his shell and really get into some of the things that matter to him.

For instance, Jaffe talks a bit about the perception that some developers are too humble or not humble enough. His reaction:

A lot of the people who hate me like a lot of the Japanese developers.... I don't ask them this but you read into it and they're like 'Oh, they're very humble. It's like fuck you, man! Why do I have to be humble to you. I don't come out and say I'm a great developer. But do I not earn the right as a fucking human being to have an opinion about something. It's like fuck you up your ass. I can't stand that mentality that you should be all cow-tailing and be like Oh, thank you, thank you, fuck you man.

But how do you really feel Jaffe?

It's a great conversation, the best thing you can say about an interview, I think. Most importantly, you get some amazing insight into what makes the grand designer tick.

<![CDATA[Clip: Kotaku on Game Head]]>

Back when Team Kotaku invaded New York earlier this year, Game Head came out and took some time to talk to the entire crew about a myriad of things gaming related. I'm told they plan to use that for reoccurring segments called Kotaku On...

But this first appearance of Kotaku on Game Head was essentially a quick primer on what the site is, featuring me in my big bird shirt. I totally need to buy more shirts. :)

If you're impatient to get to the Kotaku, it starts off a bit about 10 seconds before three minutes. And never forget, Kotaku is the product of a team of amazing writers, both Ninja and Pirate.

<![CDATA[Call Of Duty 3: The Reality Show]]> Spike TV has really pulled out all the stops on a recent episode of their show Game Head. The episode, entitled "Call of Duty 3: Challenge," pitted 16 "unsuspecting' gamers against each other in mental and physical challenges based on the popular game. Spike TV says that the episode "combines the heart-pounding action of the best-selling video game franchise with the unscripted drama of the best reality TV." There's a "best" reality TV? Ok... The lucky winner received a trip for two to Normandy, France where the bulk of the game's action takes place.

I'm actually a little sorry I missed this. The thought of "unsuspecting" gamers being brought to a TV studio under false pretenses and shoved into a war simulation sounds like it could be good for a few laughs. Especially the physical challenge part.
