The timing of the humor in the show is like a ZP if it was stretched out, which gives it a little less punch. The talk-show bits also needed a bit more work in discussion, so I hope they fixed those issues and made a show that was something to look forward to.

Inb4 G4 hires them for a week.

@Railgun5: Agreed. They might consider actually highlighting the guy who is actually famous a little bit more as well.

Yes I know that the other guys do a podcast, but Yahtzee's left toe has more fan clout than either of them, and he's clearly way funnier.

I have no earthly idea why they spent so much time promoting Yug playing host.

@Yossarian: The issue is that if they highlighted Yahtzee all the time, it'd be "Oh, let's go watch that show because that guy with a funny accent that talks fast is on it" as opposed to "Let's go watch that show because it's entertaining/informational(?) and has those WACKY antics that we know and love. And Yahtzee too."

Hmm. I'll give it a shot, but I'm still not sure.
Still has that awkwardness there, I just don't think they are cut out for TV. Otakuman mentioned Top Gear of gaming, but I just don't think the charisma or chemistry is there.
Currently I'm fine with the 5-10min ZP sketches, and I'm not sure how they will flesh out a whole show, the little parodies would only go so far before you've covered most of the cliches.

I'm sure his podcast is fantastic, this, though, not so much.

Anyway, if Yahtzee can tarnish his brilliance with this and still have rabid fans, then I can be a starred commentor and still have opinion and keep at least one or two of the people who have hearted me.

I think with a star you should be an good example to all of us and base your oppinion on more and elaborate choosen words to prove all those firsters wrong. ^^

Is there not a market for just Yahtzee to keep doing his reviews? Maybe up the production values a bit and write alternate versions that are TV friendly?

@Yossarian: Because eventually "Zero Punctuation" gets old. I know a lot of guys that have stopped watching entirely because they've moved on to the next thing. No one blames Yahtzee for trying to expand.

@False: If you can't stay fresh and interested putting together one 5 minute bit per week, then good luck turning out twenty-three 22 minute shows per season.

Hey could prove me wrong, but this doesn't seem to be in his wheelhouse. Zero Punctuation, however, clearly is. IMO he should be taking that format and trying to see how to expand it. Doing a variety game review show may not cut it.

Yay....British snarkiness at its worst. Three guys who have never done anything in the games industry. I didn't think it would be possible to get worse than Yahtzee's terrible cynicism but it looks like he dug up two additional overly critical loudmouths to pollute the internet with . Lame...I wont be watching this.....ever.

2. Ben has also got some indie game development and games journalism under his belt

I think it's just awkward because of the nature of this whole couch-sitting...thing. I feel like they are too aware that they are on the spot, and not acting candid like a podcaster behind a microphone. The features idea is just refreshing, but the skits are...meh.

There's just not a lot of chemistry going on there. In this state, it'd make a much better podcast than aiming for a Consolevania-style show (because even if you're soulless enough to not find any enjoyment in Consolevania, at least you have to admit that Rab, Ryan and Kenny work great together onscreen).

As someone said before, perhaps they should consider staying behind the scenes. The Larry Davids of the world are often flukes. Not all great comedic writers work well in front of a camera.

I look for to and watch ZP religiously. It's my Wednesday lunch ritual. Grab some McD's, run back to office, eat &watch ZP, go out and smoke, back to work. Dunno whatchoo talkin' bout, Crecente.

That said, just the trailer at the end of yesterday's ZP looked awkward, so I can't imagine what the show will be like. It was like another bad ripoff of the Sabotage video or something.

I'm hopeful but wary.

This whole thing put a grimace on my face. It's just so... awkward. These guys would all make wonderful writers for such a show, but they need some professional hosts and directors before this is even remotely marketable.
