K2: Billy Mitchell As A Hunter Killer Robot

If you thought The King of Kong was story of a desperate man out to protect his record, wait until you get a load of K2: The King, The Kong, and the Ugly, a G4 original production.

Sure it's a bit stupid, childish, hokey, and inane. Most of the time it isn't even particularly funny. What strikes me is how terrifying the thought of being chased around by Billy Mitchell with futuristic weapons actually is. I would be terrified, but practical, cutting off my own hands so the record could never come to pass. When a maniacal gaming hot sauce maker is ready to gun you down you have to think on your toes, people.

G4 And Microsoft Partner For Shows On Xbox Live

G4 and Microsoft are hooking up to make several of the tech entertainment network's shows available on Xbox Live, the companies announced today. Episodes of "Code Monkeys" - including a "never-before seen" free episode - snowboarder reality show "The Block" and a weekly episode of "Attack of the Show" are already available for download on the service.

G4 said it's the first outing for its programming on a gaming console. Incidentally, G4 also said it's the "multi-media destination that feeds young guy’s addiction for the latest technology, web culture, animation and video games." So, young guys, are you addicted?

G4: Video of Force Unleashed for Wii, Duel Mode

Ah the Wiimote. An elegant weapon, not as clumsy or as random like a blaster. Paired with the Nunchuk, it's pretty awesome too, according to this video from G4, which got an exclusive hands-on with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for the Wii's duel mode. (Man that was a mouthful). More »

Sessler, Thompson Square Off On NPR Over Grand Theft Auto IV

X-Play co-host Adam Sessler joined Neal Conan on the NPR radio show Talk of the Nation earlier today to talk about the recent release of Grand Theft Auto IV. While the majority of the segment seemed to focus on relating GTA IV player experiences and informing the NPR audience on the realities, less so the media fantasies, of all things Grand Theft Auto, it took a dive about seven minutes in. That's when John "Jack" Thompson phoned in to drop his special brand of disinformation. More »

Video "Proof" That Rock Band Learns You Some Drummin'

Was Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopoulos spot on when he said that Rock Band would be "training an army of a million drummers"? Maybe. It, at the very least, helped train one, Attack of the Show's Kevin Periera. He recently applied his 89% expert-level skills on Coheed and Cambria's "Welcome Home" to some real life Coheed and Cambria. How's he do? Well, I won't spoil it.

Okay, I will. He nails it. I have no idea how much real life drum experience Mr. Pereira's had, but if it's strictly limited to Rock Band, I'm impressed. If not, at least Kev got to rub elbows with the C&C music factory. Next time some internet d-bag asks why you don't just play a real instrument, fire back that maybe, just maybe, you will. Game Developers Choice Awards On Tonight

For those who didn't attend GDC last week, there's another chance to catch the Game Developers Choice Awards/Independent Games Festival Awards megashow. Condensed to a 30-minute segment for an X-Play time slot, to catch the event, set your DVRs for G4 at 8pm (eastern) tonight. (You could watch it in real time, but we were pretending you had plans or something.)

Not only is this the first developer-powered award show to make it to mainstream television, but everyone who attended was entertained by some extremely funny acceptance speeches. Tune in and enjoy.

Gerstmann On X-Play Tonight

Jeff Gerstmann of Gerstmann-gate fame will be making his first television appearance since his dismissal from GameSpot tonight at 8PM Eastern time on G4's newly revamped X-Play. Gerstman will be on hand to discuss the lack of innovation in Japanese gaming, a topic that was recently brought to light via a Gamasutra interview with Konami sound director Akira Yamaoka. As expected, Gerstmann will also discuss his abrupt departure from GameSpot, because that's really the gist of why he's appearing on the show in the first place. Otherwise the little press blurb we got from G4 wouldn't have been sent with the title "JEFF GERSTMANN'S FIRST TV APPEARANCE". I hope I get half as popular as Jeff does when Crecente finally fires me.

EA vs Fox: Adam Sessler Weighs in

G4 host Adama Sessler gives his opinion on the whole Fox News/Mass Effect imbroglio in this clip from a recent episode of X-Play. He presents the facts with much more aplomb and fairness than Fox did, but in the end turns the tables to give the network and author Cooper Lawrence a taste of their own medicine. Although Lawrence has since apologized for her missteps, it's still fun to watch Sessler take her and the dubious Fox News to task.

Tonight, Bourne Game On G4

I've never gotten into the Bourne movies (I know, I really should, and I will watch them one day), but to those who have, Sierra/High Moon Studios' Bourne Conspiracy for 360 and PS3 will lift already lifted its skirt a little bit tonight last night on G4. X-Play aired never-before-seen in-game footage during an interview with lead game designer Rory McGuire for you to get all the Bourne fill that you can.

UPDATE: Blasted RSS! This aired last night (in the US at least).

Talkin' 'Bout Jeff Gerstmann And Gamespot On G4

If you happened to miss yesterday's episode of Attack of the Show on G4, featuring Wired Game|Life's Chris Kohler and yours truly chatting about the Jeff Gerstmann-GameSpot situation, now's your chance. Notice that it's Kohler representing with a bird shirt this time, not a Kotaku editor. Now that we've had ample time to process, with tempers cooled, we rapped about the long term effects of Kane & Lynch: Dead Men Score-gate. I know, that doesn't have the same ring to it, does it?

I'm on my way to the Attack of the Show set to chat about things related to the Jeff Gerstmann-Gamespot brouhaha. If you feel like watching someone with a face and voice for blogging speak on rumor and speculation, tune in to G4 for The Feed today. It promises to be a Gerstmann good time! As always, comments about grooming choices are welcome in the comments.

Morgan Webb Weighs In On Women In Gaming

The co-host of G4's X-Play, Morgan Webb, didn't get her television gig because of her good looks. Oh sure, it may have helped her get on camera, but at one point Webb was just a rank and file computer nerd doing research for TechTV. Then, one day, she was given a bit of spit-shine, thrust in front of the camera and television broadcasting history was made. She was then further groomed, given spreads in mens magazines like FHM and Maxim, ultimately giving G4 its most recognizable face.

MTV Multiplayer sat down with Webb, part of its week-long series of interviews with women in gaming, to ask the host of WebbAlert questions about her job, the influx of women in games, and the industry's double standards. First thing you should know about Morgan, she doesn't read her fan mail. She also avoids internet message boards. Why? Probably too many judgments on the sharpness of her knees from sexless trolls, I'm guessing.

G4 Launches The MMO Report

Hungry for MMO news several days to a couple weeks old yet sprinkled with some hit or miss humor and delivered by a cheesy pseudo-news anchor? Look no further than The MMO Report, G4's new weekly online only television show that tackles hard-hitting issues like virtual penis lawsuits. Casey Schreiner does an admirable job of updating us on the goings on across the MMO multiverse, with only a few stumbles here and there to keep things real. My favorite segment, of course, was the What the F@&# Second Life?!?!?! segment, which I fully expect to appear on somewhere down the line.

Clip: Bioshock on G4 X-Play

Irrational Games' Creative Director, Ken Levine, talks Bioshock in this G4 X-Play preview. Although this video plays more like a press junket than some of the Bioshock footage we've seen before, the information that is added in this semi-interview reveals the character and plot details clearer than the trailers. Look, Ma, I'm On The Tee Vee!

If you weren't glued to the television yesterday, drooling over my appearance on G4's Attack of the Show, here's your chance to salivate like a mad dog over manly discussion on console exclusivity. The Loop segment features me, EGM's Shane Bettenhausen and host Kevin Periera talking about the PLAYSTATION 3, Xbox 360, Final Fantasy XIII, Devil May Cry 4 and Ace Combat 6. 386 points worth of console debate! Clip: A Philosphical Mii

While I find this philosophical look at life as a Mii amusing, it would have been way better if it featured Kevin with a porn stache.
