Auran Lets Fury Go Free, Bad News Follows
Auran's "financial disaster" of an MMO brawler Fury is about to be slightly less of a financial disaster, at least from a purely player perspective. Auran has announced that starting with December 14th's Age of the Chosen update, players will be able to download and play the game completely free using a new mode called "Chosen", which gives access to all items and powers included in the game, only they will earn money and essence at a slower rate and will not be able to trade with other players. For a fee players can upgrade to Hero or Immortal status, where they gain powers and cash at an increased rate. Good news for players, though Auran CEO Tony Hilliam delivered the news to Kotaku Australia along with ominous tidings. We will then have some bad news to follow (unless a miracle occurs), but there will be a very positive end to the week.
All they need is a miracle. All they need is you. More » -

Week in Games: Beautiful Katamari Edition
My game purchases this week will be woefully small as not only am I staying with a friend in NYC who is a non-gamer and therefore has no consoles, but I am leaving on Wed. for LA to go to E for All. But one thing I will definitely be picking up is Beautiful Katamari just so I can hold it in my hand and wish I could play it. What's on your must have purchase list this week? More » -

Gamecock Double Dates Fury And Dementium
And so the saga of Gamecock reaches fruition, as the publisher known so far for its lavish parties and devastating marches readies itself for the money shot. They've just announced the release dates for their first two games, both of which hit in October. Auran's PvP MMO Fury is slated to hit store shelves on the 9th, while Renegade Kid's survival horror FPS for the Nintendo DS has gone the way of so many horror titles before it, hitting store shelves on Halloween."It's been a blast getting Gamecock off the ground, but it's even more exciting to have our first two games coming out this October," said Mike Wilson, Grand Champeen of Gamecock. "These games showcase what developers - given the freedom to create - can accomplish. Both Auran and Renegade Kid are visionaries, and have stayed true to creating games that are fresh and that keep your adrenaline pumping."
Looking forward to finally getting my hands on some Gamecock. Um. More » -

Codemasters Unleashes Fury On Europe
Fury is Australian developer Auran's free-to-play persistent online action RPG that hopes to turn the world of MMO PvP on its ear while at the same time fostering renewed interest in the pizza delivery profession. Being distributed in the states by the always fun to say Gamecock, no news has been forthcoming about the possibility of a European release of the game until now. Codemasters Online has entered into a distributorship partnership with Auran to bring Fury to all of the good little European girls and boys this October. Codemasters Online VP and GM David Solari gushes."We believe this unique and groundbreaking product will appeal to MMO and action shooter gamers alike. It's going to drive forward the online persistent market with Fury's new style of free to play, instant online action."
We'll see how that works out for them once Fury is unleashed this fall. For now enjoy the furious press release, after the jump. More » -

Fury - Life Versus Level Grinding
This video advertisement for Auran's Fury has a pretty clear message to deliver. If you play World of Warcraft, your hot girlfriend will totally have sex with the pizza guy in your apartment. It doesn't help that the pizza guy is way hotter than you. You should work on that. While the clip tries to only subtly hint at WoW, there is a pretty clear shot of the spine of one the strategy guides that makes it rather obvious who they're sniping at here. Crafty. Extra marketing points for the tagline, "Waste Enemies. Not Time." Unfortunately marketing points were deducted for making me no more likely to hit up the game's free preview this weekend and more apt to get a part-time job delivering pizza. -

Furious Fury Combat Trailer
Auron is ready to start sending out invitations for the first round of closed beta testing for its massively multiplayer online PVP game, Fury, and to commemorate the occasion they've released this gameplay trailer showing you what kind of action you can expect to run into should you be picked. If you like what you see you can still head over to Unleashthefury.com and give signing up a go. I've not had my hands on the game since GDC but what I saw was definitely worth looking into. -
