Sit On Pouf-Man ]]> Slipping right under Namco Bandai's legal radar (until right now, we guess), Italian designer QAYOT has made this Pac-Man-like seat. Covered in a stain resistant coated fabric, the Pouf-Man doesn't eat pellets like its gaming counterpart but a square cushion. It's also not yellow. And that's what people think when they hear Pac-Man: Pellets and yellow. Well, that's what we always think. Always.

<![CDATA[ Your PlayStation 2 Trash Becomes Furniture Treasure ]]> With over 140 million PlayStation 2s walking the earth, surely their must be one or two that have broken down. Maybe even three. Possibly even more than that, as there are apparently enough to establish a product made from recycled PS2s.

UK based Pli Design is taking advantage of all those unwanted consoles with its Reee chair, which features 100% recycled PlayStation 2 plastic. Sound familiar? It might, as we wrote about Pli's PlayStation product last year. Seems Pli is just getting around to "launching" it next week.

If you're worrying about compromising "environmental credentials", look no further than the Reee. You've never sat this green before.

<![CDATA[ At Last — a 4-foot SNES Controller that Works! ]]> You know, how many times have you been sitting there, thinking to yourself, "Self, not only do I wish I had a working SNES controller, but I wish it was four feet wide so that I had to hug it like a six-year-old on a swimming pool raft." Well, Gizmodo found this yesterday, an outfit called SCAD Inc., which has heard your cries and responded. Perhaps inspired by the coffee-table NES controller these guys have spent the past two months building a super-size Super Nintendo controller, with a comprehensive photographic record of their progress. As of last update, the project was in its final QA stages — detail painting, wiring, etc. Now I want to see a chaise longue made out of an Intellivision controller.

<![CDATA[ This Coffee Table Thinks It's An NES Controller ]]> How cute! We love it when furniture has delusions of gaming hardware. Well, the joke's on us, because this particular coffee table does triple duty, storage gobs of video game paraphernalia and functioning as a working NES controller in addition to its coffee tabling duties. Creator Kyle tipped us off today to let us know the whole thing is finished, with helpful how-to posts and video of the thing in action embedded within the celebratory completion post. He even got a girl to go near it and she doesn't look scared. Nice goin, Kyle!

<![CDATA[ Tetris Shelves: Modular Furniture Never Looked So Good ]]> We mentioned one form of Tetris shelves from New York's Brave Space Design a few years ago; but there are several options you may have missed if you saw these beauties way back when. While the regular open work shelves don't have a price listed ('Contact us for a quote!' is rarely a good sign for your wallet), you can get the colorful "flat" set for a mere $1500 per 10 blocks or the lovely bamboo version for $2000 per 10 blocks. Despite the expense and the fact that Tetris-inspired bookshelves would clash horribly with my decor, I think my books would look fabulous nestled in these creative, if pricey, shelving units.

<![CDATA[ Pixel Couch Is Perfect For Gamer Swass ]]> Usually we opt to pitch you funny blankets from Etsy, but today we thought we'd present a product for the perusal of our readership with, how shall we say this politely, a job more expendable income. By Danish manufacturer Kvadrat, the Pixel Couch (the name should be self-explanatory) is a sort of gaming room dream seat. Sure, the lack of full back pillow coverage could become irksome, but you've got to learn to sacrifice for your art. We couldn't spot the price online, but assume you have to sacrifice a bit for your purchases, too.

<![CDATA[ RumbleSeat, The Gamer's Loveseat ]]> We've all seen the seats with built-in speakers, but they are severely limited. While a couch is multifunctional—prepared for an impromptu nap or make-out session—current gaming chairs offer a more narrow seated existence good only for one person in one position.

The $248.95 RumbleSeat offers vibrate-y gaming for two. While not hooking directly to your console, it will serve as an additional set of speakers for your television. And just imagine sitting next to your best friend after beating Army of Two, your rears sweating on the baby blue microfiber cover, the musk of another's Cheeto breathe entering your nostrils...good luck capturing that awkward sexual tension on a unicycle.

<![CDATA[ Asteroids Coffee Table, Helloooo Compromise ]]> All those gaming figurines are neat and everything, but the last thing I want to be doing is explaining who Cloud is and how he carries such a large sword without his arm falling off during a dinner party. And multiply that statement times a thousand for my wife.

Items like this Asteroids coffee table balance that gaming yin with having a house that doesn't look straight out of a Pokemon episode yang. It's subtle, classy and will match just about any couch you can throw at it. But only 50 will be produced in a limited run this year, proving once again that anyone who says happiness comes free is a fucking delusional bastard. Check out the "Invasion" version after the jump.

<![CDATA[ Ace Bayou Rolls Out New Gaming Rocker ]]>

Ace Bayou, a manufacturer of "innovative lifestyle furniture", announced two new gaming chairs at CES, the X Rocker Pro-Series and X Rocker 4.1.

Said to be twice as powerful as the traditional X Rocker chair, both new models come complete with four built-in speakers plus subwoofer, wireless capabilities, and the ability to daisy-chain multiple chairs together (or connect them with other items in the Xfunctional media furniture series). The X Rocker 4.1 also has "true" surround sound, which is designed to let gamers hear more audio clues when immersed in game play. Now, you'll be able to hear when someone's sneaking up on you right before you get fragged in Halo 3! The speakers on the X Rocker 4.1 are also removable.

Ace Bayou will also have some of their pre-existing Xfunctional furniture on display at CES, including the X Pedestal Wireless Home Theatre Chair (US$199.50) and the Evolution Wireless with Battery Pack Chair (US$149.99). The company also says that their furniture is compatible with most entertainment devices: iPod, PS3, Wii, Xbox360, PSP, and DVD players. Good for all those times you thought to yourself, "wouldn't it be great if I could just sit IN my iPod?"

<![CDATA[ New Game Chair For Those Who Are Chained to Their PCs ]]> gtech%20neber%20computer%20chair.jpg

Currently on show in Korea is the new G-Tech Neber chair, which looks something like the dentist chair from hell with a computer attached. While I've never quite gotten the appeal of dedicated game chairs (or, in this case, computing chair that goes far beyond even the fanciest of desk chairs), I guess if you spend hours a day chained to your PC, this could be a good option for "reducing fatigue," or so the company says. No price is listed, but I think we can be reasonably assured it will be quite hefty.

<![CDATA[ Custom Head-to-Head Style Gaming Cabinet ]]> ultgamingset3.jpg

MAKE: blog had a link to some nifty photos and explanation of one person's custom built, Japanese arcade-style head-to-head gaming cabinet.

The finished entertainment center houses a Playstation 3, alongside a PC running an AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core Processor, with 2gb of RAM and a NVdia GeForce 7950 GX2 Video Card, all networked to his main computer(s) system inside the house for complete integration.

As well as having full media center functionality, the PC is loaded with arcade and home console emulators for every gaming system since the Atari 2600 ....

The owner has gone so far as to import the style of seats used in Japanese arcades to "complete the experience." That's dedication to your dream. There are a lot of things I'm going to miss after moving back to the US, but I'm not going to build my own Taiwanese-style vendor cart to recreate the experience.

<![CDATA[ E306: The Gaming Throne ]]>

While some companies at E3 are looking to impress your eyeballs and influence your wallet, a few of them are more interested in your ass. Gaming chairs of several varieties eagerly await your weight, hoping to seduce you with built-in vibration and sound. Few of them, however, have created as elaborate a personal gaming space as EMA Innovation, who have given the world the Nethrone.

The Nethrone looks like the preferred gaming furniture of the droid army from THe Phantom Menace, with curves reminiscent of an isometric workout station, a futuristic torture device, or an elaborate sex machine. It seats exactly one, and instead of setting it in front of your TV, a small flat-screen TV (not included) attaches to it. with room for a PS2 behind it. (An Xbox 360 attachment is said to be coming soon.) Pretty much everything raises, lowers, or tilts, allowing you to customize it to your own peculiar physiological needs.

It might be hard to imagine it fitting in with your other furniture, but if you're hardcore enough, you might not need other furniture.

<![CDATA[ Free Mario Furniture for Animal Crossing ]]> acwwds.gif

If you live in Japan and have a copy of Animal Crossing: Wild World then head on over to a Nintendo DS Touch! Try! kiosk for some free in-game furniture.

To get the digital schwag you need to put a letter and a present in a message bottle and throw it into the sea or river. If done correctly, the Mayor of AC gives you the Mario themed furniture. I, of course, won't be participating and that has nothing to do with the fact that I live in Denver.

<![CDATA[ Gamechairs Reviewed ]]> gamechairs.jpg

Mayfly or V1? Not quite as epic a question as to be or not to be, but if you're a gamer in pursuit of some quality sitting, then it's worth a ponder.

Gizmodo has word of a game chair throw-down over at Primotechnology. The site spent 100 hours testing out the two gaming chairs and wrote up their thoughts on the seats.

Be warned, the Gizmodo blurb uses the phrase "game gravy" in a way that will forever haunt your mind while eating mashed potatoes or a nice pot roast.
