@ShaSt One: I remember trying to describe to my friends a show about a girl who turned into some sort of puddle due to radiation or something, and they looked at me like I was crazy. If I hadn't watched the show with my sister I would have thought it was some sort of weird dream, haha. #thesecretworld
@Taggart6: I don't always drink beer, but when I do...: I've heard so much about DDO (good things). Is it worth downloading or am I just going to play it for 2 hours and uninstall? #thesecretworld
@Neocorey:
Try the lite interface which is a few hundred MBs to see if you like the game play. The graphics are really low end, but It shows the core mechanics of the game.
If you do, then you can download the larger more graphical interface version which is like 4 GBs.
It's a neat system for trying out the game with out having to go through a huge install.
Sounds interesting, hope it's a post 2010 release. There's loads of MMOs coming out in 2010 from the looks of things, sort of like how this year has a lot of fighting games. A few of them are bound to not do as well.
Since the preview has gone and doesn't seem to be immediately coming back, I'll try to say what it said(Tell me if there was a reason you had to remove it, and I'll edit and blank this if you tell me in enough time)...Bah to be safe, I'll edit this to be an Even Poorer approxmination...
So... there's three factions, all fight "the Evil" and each over. There Templars, who are good... but also excessive (burn down whole village for the greater good kinda thing) (they are also based in London), there's the guys who Xantos was a member of, who are sorta bad/megalomaniacal, and based in America. And another group, the Dragon, who seem to be (a) The balance, believing that balance will come from chaos and such, and (b) Are scheming bastards trying to play the other factions. They're based in Korea I think?
All fight "the evil", but all want the top spot after the evil is taken care of...

@Cptn.PaxtonAstypalaea(Corsair): I wonder where the preview went... If they actually had to remove it for some reason that's quite peculiar. Was right after I commented on it too ;(
It's really going to take something more than leaderboards and Facebook stats to sell me on another MMO. All I get from reading this is it's another classic MMO (WoW) clone in terms of it's basic premise and design, 3 factions, with a guild wars meets borderlands style combat system.
No offense to Funcom, but it doesn't sound like after Anarchy Online and Age of Conan they're going to strike it lucky on their 3rd attempt.
I have some hope for Aion (if you can call that a true MMO), but right now it looks like the only thing that will ever overthrow (or even challenge) WoW is whatever other MMO Blizzard is working on =/
So you'll be able to tell who's what based on what color they are? Seems simple enough to me. Kind of reminds me of that POX handheld thing from so many years ago.
'kay, the test says I'm a Dragon. After reading the 3 descriptions, I'm quite happy with the outcome. :)
I'm usually not into online games, but the trailers, artworks and previews have me interested (which is a first for me when it comes to MMOs).
I like the tone and premise, and I love the fact that, according to the devs, it's not based on the usual grinding and looting (a major turn-off for me) and it's supposed to have a strong story (former Longest Journey and Dreamfall devs? you have my attention!).
But for now, it's just promises, so I'll stay on the side of "cautious interest". Especially in the absence of any kind of gameplay details.
