@Outkastprince:
Its actually pretty decent. Since the original makers of the game just took the WoW base code I was pretty skeptical at first, but I played during the beta and actually had a good time.
I stopped before release because my computer couldn't handle having too many people in the same area (the end of the beta event essentially was a 1fps lagfest for me). That and I was getting back into retail gaming as I finally found a professional job by that point.

It's either someone who takes the game too seriously or they just keep saying lol, gets pretty lonely playing solo on MMO's meant to be played in a group. I'll try giving this game a shot, I'm more interested in how the community is cause a good game with a crappy community usually has me leaving immediately.
@Frazzleberry: Doing a little research and so far so good. I never tried World of Warcraft before so this game will seem brand new to me regardless of the base code (thankfully).
I enjoy Luna Online but holy cow is that a empty game, same with Nostales (Girlfriend has a mac so i got lil options, pity me).
It's not a WoW clone, it's more like other Korean MMOs with tiered equipment and a whole lot of grinding. It is rather well done though, and as noted you can buy SOME of the premium currency with normal gold (they just added rubies, which you seem to only get by buying premium currency from their shop).
@Oktober:
The game is free. There's really no reason to not give the game a try.
It's a lot of fun, especially with stuff like Dual Classing. It's cash shop-based, but you can buy cash-shop diamonds with in-game gold, so you don't even have to pay a dime to get stuff from the cash shop.
@Oktober: Its a really good game for what it its. It definitely better than 99% of the f2p mmos currently in the market.
The only problem is at some point you are going to need diamonds(item shop currency), but u can buy it from the auction house with in-game if u need to. Because for end game u r gonna need a lot of stamina(HP)+ ur class primary stat.
An important thing to note is there is the is at a minimum grind when it comes to lvl grinding. The lvl grinding only happens when your secondary class is closing on lvl 50.
Overall is a great game for what it is. it wouldn't be this great if it was a p2p, but it definitely stands out as a good F2P mmo.
Oddly enough, the actual in game armor is nowhere near as revealing. Most of my characters end up in ankle-length dresses (whether or not they have a vagina).
Have you ever seen screenshots of this game? It looks like they opened WoW's source files and took everything, then made minor modifications to every part. It might be fun, but it's practically a low-end copy of WoW.
To be fair, the game existed long before WoW. It was known as Radiant Arcana before it came overseas. So in the timeline of things, WoW copied Runes of Magic...
@Heliophage: Even the CU was still fun. I wish another game would be at least that good. I miss my days mining for hours then spending time in the Mos Eisley Cantina crafting new and interesting items.
I have hope that it will be an enjoyable experience, but I doubt anything will have the freedom of the playerbase to create so much of the entertainment as we did in Star Wars Galaxies. Between the crafting, the player houses and cities, and the unique player events that we started on our own -- some of which would bring in millions of credits from those in attendance -- Star Wars Galaxies was more, in a lot of ways, than any MMO since has been.
The Old Republic will be amazing, I have no doubt, but it will be different almost certainly.
@Sebnotic- Wish Me A Happy 19th Birthday: I found runescape actually quite enjoyable.. The graphics were less then impressive but the free world is already a nice size and the member map just dropped my jaw.. never became a member tho.. i hate click-fighters
This game reminds me about a lot but not in the least about WoW.
Your line "or at least borrows ideas from multiple sources to try and keep things fresh" is a good way to describe WoW as well. Did you know that the game is one large cut and paste collage with ideas from several korean MMORPGs?
Microtransactions are fast becoming the norm, and I for one don't mind them. If you have the money, or free time, you should be allowed to advance your character in directions suitable to you - I can envision a time where games without such features will feel as if they are on 'rails.'
That said, I disagree with games such as HOME, and the Live dashboard (I am aware that neither are games - most especially the Live dashboard), charging fees for avatar customisation that, in no way, enhance- or increase - the games lifespan.
Gaming as a hobby is completely intangible. We can't show any sort of trophy to the real world to show how good we are or what we can accomplish. Sure there are tournaments with awards as well as pro gamers, but I'm talking about you and me -- the "normal" people of gaming.
Every sport has its exceptional athlete; we are the norm, or even the intramural gamers so to speak. We don't play pro, we play for fun and recreation.
So whether we spend our money on fake items, grind for fake items, or even buying the games themselves, it's all digital improvement. Mostly in our minds and the minds of our friends who enjoy the same games.
Maybe one day I can cash my Gamerscore points in for something -- like a discount towards a new game. It's only furthering the analogy, but hey, it's my hobby of choice. There's not much I'd rather spend money on than technology/gadgets/games/geek toys.
I don't like the trend that this kind of thing represents. There's more and more of it, and frankly I'm not sure I like the idea that the guy with the most expendable income is the guy who'll do the best in an online game.
"He with the gold rules" is fine for some things, but recreation and hobbies is not one of them.
I am not exaggerating the tiniest bit, when I say that screenshot looked like it was taken from the human starting area in WoW. It's one thing to ape a feature or two, but they've got to have some major balls to ape a game's entire art style, from what I've heard one other game's character design, and another one's leveling mechanics.
I'm debating playing this or Perfect World to kill the time till something good comes out. Any thoughts on which is better from somebody who has played both?
Registered, downloading now. I liked playing WoW, but almost felt like I was working at times in guild play. You know, getting 40 people together just to advance was annoying, and you HAD to advance or you felt like you were wasting your money.
Being free fits me JUST fine, as I can get on, do a little five man dungeon crawls, and get off. No feeling of wasted money.
I just felt like if you couldn't make a raid, you were letting folks down. You had to adhere to a scheduled playtime, which got annoying real quick. And I was a healer (a damn powerful resto druid by the time I stopped playing before the first expansion came out) so I COULDN'T take a night off without leaving them in a lurch. And due to the nature of our progression guild (who was the second most progressed on our particular server at the time) they took it the schedule VERY seriously.
I quit one day when I was sitting down to log on and let out a big sigh... And realized I felt the same way as I did when I used to go to work at my old awful movie theater manager job. I told the guys that night that I was done, that I would do one more night for them to find a replacement, and I uninstalled and canceled my account that night.
But I always liked being a healer, going on the smaller runs and being the only one keeping everyone alive. It was fun, even if it only resulted in swatting health bars in essence. I'm looking forward to this reinvigorating some of that for me.
@PapaBear434: You're experience mirrors my own. Playing the end-game content required having a very coordinated guild. Which as you just described, turned into a job itself. What finally drove me away was a combination of the guild raid schedule and dealing with the quirky personalities of the hard-core players.
I'm hoping with Runes of Magic I can pull in friends (who don't need to invest a dime in the game) and just play for fun in an MMO again.

That's what I am waiting for Diablo 3 to do. True, it's not a TRUE MMO, but I am a sucker for the loot hunt dungeon crawls. It's why, despite it's flaws, I played the hell out of Hellgate: London and why I stuck with WoW for a full year and gained 25 lbs. in the process.
Something I can just get on and off, guilt free? Hell's yeah.

I have yet to try out Runes of Magic but I love MMORPGS so I'll give it a try later. Like I don't have 40+ MMO's clogging my PC as we speak.
