We've posted this video before, but we're posting it again because it just came to our attention that Freetar Hero, the PC game/tool that allows you to program your own Guitar Hero songs, has been released into beta.

Unfortunately, it still doesn't support the Guitar Hero controller and, frankly, standing on my computer chair jumping up and down while thrashing the keyboard isn't nearly as satisfying. Still, I want you guys to download it and get recording: when Freetar Hero does utilize the GH controller, I expect to be able to immediately jump in and play Hide's Psyence.

<![CDATA[So You Wanna Be A Freetar Hero?]]>

Last week, we reported on VGSPlayer, which will allow you to strum along to Guitar Hero songs to practice them in an environment when virtual avatars aren't booing you. But one of our readers — and god love you, but we deleted your email by accident, so email us with your name if you want credit — pointed us to this video of Freetar Hero, an upcoming program that will allow you to program your own new Guitar Hero songs, plug in your controller and jam. This looks plenty snazzy, people. - Florian Eckhardt
