Haze's multiplayer was fine, the singleplayer was terrible and seeing how BF is a multiplayer focused franchise, I don't see how Radical could've made BF3 bad.
@Indy_aka_Rex: Yea, the multiplayer was "solid", I agree with that. But it still wasn't anything to get excited about, and I don't think Battlefront 3 should be that - mediocre.
@Hunter217: I do and no the comment did not mix them up. In 2002, Battlefield already did 64 players - given that Battlefront is a carbon copy of Battlefield with a Star Wars theme, it's very unlikely that in 2004 or 2005, the sequel, Battlefront 2, would not be able to cater to 64 players.
Even though I got so burned out on FPSes, Battlefront 2 was incredibly fun for me. It seemed to nail the gameplay balance with real epic Star Wars feeling battles so well. The controls were also pick up and play easy.
The more I hear about this story of Free Radical the more it seems like someone trying to get out of a contract with EA. Does EA still own Free Radical? Did it ever. Otherwise my theory is shit.
I still don't think we've seen the last of Timesplitters and whatever the new name is , it might as well be Free Radical still if they hired back a lot of the old employees.
I found a gamecube copy of the third game,(future perfect) yesterday for £10. I had never seen it anywhere else, to be perfectly honest I thought it was a PS2/Xbox only game.
I snapped it up because I loved the second one so much and I'm glad I did.
I've been laughing my arse off at it, how often can you say that about an FPS?
I'll be really sad if we lose that mix of game play and humour.
I can't think of any other franchise that would allow you to eavesdrop on gay guards or include cross dressing jokes, well not since they decided you couldn't play as Raiden in MGS4.
I really would like to see Infogrames buy this company. Phil is doing great things for Atari and I think Phil could make the Timesplitter series do really well.
If not them I wonder if Sony would like to buy them because the Timesplitter series has always sold well on the Playstation brand. Plus Then Sony has Guerrilla that makes great Shooters with awesome graphics and has Free Radical that gives co-op and split-screen
multi-player battles. So then Sony will have a really great FPS team.
If it can't be them I really want Microsoft to step in to buy the company this way there could be a really cool new Perfect Dark game. Plus may be FR could help Rare make a remake of Golden Eye.
@BlackIceJoe: Actually, according to several sources, the remake for Goldeneye is already done. They're just waiting for Nintendo to okay Activision to give the rights of the game to Microsoft, because Nintendo is still whining about its software attach rate, so Iwata-san decided, "if we can't get another awesome Goldeneye, no one will!", pretty much.

Let's be honest for a second here, after HAZE, I doubt either TimeSplitters or BF3 would have turned out anything above mediocre.

I'm pretty sure 2 was up to 24/32 on the PS2/Xbox.

Needless to say, Battlefront II, which is a lot "newer", also did up to 64 players, even on consoles.
