After buying Medal of Honor: Airborne on Day 1 and then selling a few months later I could not care less. Call of Duty and Battlefield are light years better then any of the MoH game. #medalofhonor
@Quicksilver4648: True. EA's going to have to do something pretty spectacular to make a WW2 shooter interesting besides having a name beginning with "Medal of Honor" and awesome music. #medalofhonor
If by "revitalize", EA means "make not suck", then I could possibly come back to Medal of Honor (doubtful, since Allied Assault was the last version I bought). Seems like they're looking at the Call of Duty series and just kicking themselves for fucking up MoH. #medalofhonor
Alternate history WWII with sci-fi elements, like that one story arc in Star Trek Enterprise. Play as different classes of resistance fighters in Europe with the goal of not only beating Nazis, but alien Nazis. Work together with others in 4 player online and splitscreen co-op, and scripted Allied NPCs, in order to restore Europe. Weapons, human and alien, with random stats.
Day 0 paid DLC to add a quest chain involving zombies.
Day 0 paid DLC to add online multiplayer option, Last Stand. How long can you hold out? #medalofhonor
Someone should really capitalize on the cult identity of the Vietnam war. A really well done game that drew from movies like Full Metal Jacket, Deer Hunter, Good Morning Vietnam, and books like The Things They Carried could potentially be powerful, thought provoking, and entertaining.
In addition to this, the ambiguities of the Vietnam War would be great for a story. There was no clear winner or loser despite the US withdraw, so writers would be given free range to let players experience a very personal Vietnam story that wouldn't have to conform to lots of broader historical happenings like D-Day or Market Garden. #medalofhonor
@e-friend cuts you: There were a couple Vietnam games that were released around the middle of the decade (Shellshock: Nam '67, Battlefield Vietnam, Conflict: Vietnam, Men Of Valor, etc), but they were generally met with middling reviews and bleh reception from audiences.
Perhaps it was just the technology at the time, but I think the gaming audiences have moved away from Vietnam; partly from the ambiguity you mentioned, and partly because jungle guerrilla warfare is hard to turn into an enjoyable gameplay experience. #medalofhonor
@e-friend cuts you: It's because of the ambiguities and other negative qualities generally associated with Vietnam that a game about it likely won't reach mainstream success.
It sounds like you want it to be more of a "thinking" game, but videogames hasn't matured enough as a medium to support this type of game while hoping to be a mainstream success (which is likely what EA hopes to do when they say "revitalize"). Neither is the wider audience ready to embrace this type of game; the mainstream gamer wants a story where they can kick ass and save the day. They won't want to have to deal with the various issues involved with the Vietnam war. The Vietnam war games that exist have had mediocre receptions, and dealing with the issues hasn't been a focus. In short, what gamers want are games that DO have a winner and loser, where they are on the winning side.
The ambiguities is likely a factor against the creation of a mainstream Vietnam game that actually focuses on the events and not just the gameplay. #medalofhonor
@Michael Dukakis - Curse you baseball gods!: Coke invading Pepsi's headquarters is a hard mission. I think that the Coke AI is TOO good at tossing random grenades TOO MUCH. It sucks.
At least in multiplayer I got past the humiliating RC Cola ranking. #medalofhonor
I don't know if they would bring Medal of Honor series to the present because then they would have the Battlefield series as competition.
The only way I can see this work is if MoH focuses more on single player experiences and BF to focus on multiplayer. There are some problems with that as well mainly being that I have heard that the newer BF have had a really good single player. Also I would expect it would be harder to extend the life of MoH in the form of DLC if it focuses mainly on single player, especially since the new hot craze is to have something that won't be traded-in to GameStop.
I think EA has their work cut out for them and wish them the best of luck. Personally I'd just get rid of MoH and focus on BF, but that's probably because the BF games always appealed to me more. #medalofhonor
This is hilarious. I can only imagine EA 'people in suits' sitting around a table fretting about how there is no more money to be milked out of World War 2 and wondering how they can jump on the Modern Warfare bandwagon without looking a bit late and obvious. #medalofhonor
This was the same series in which I openly wept during Allied Assault during the Normandy Beach landing because it moved me so much. In the last one, I was fighting some cross between a zombie-mecha soldier in a massive fantasy concrete superstructure that never existed.
"revitalization" isn't a strong enough term for what needs to be done with this IP #medalofhonor
Yeah, I remember beating that level and then starting the game over so I could immediately play through it again. What the hell happened to MoH? #medalofhonor

Hey EA, why not revitalize SimCity while you're at it?!
And don't give us some sort of shitty Societies bullshit, give us the TRUE game, SimCity 5! #medalofhonor
