Forza Motorsport 3 will be released later this month. Lots can happen in two years, but is one of those things a radical overhaul in graphics?

Swedish site Gamereactor Sverige reportedly took the pictured screenshots and compared Forza 2 and Forza 3. What's more, these are screenshots — as many have pointed out, the game does look different in motion.

New features for Forza 3 include things like like vehicle rollover, an in-car driving view and one button assisted driving as well as the inclusion of trucks and SUVs.

Forza 3 will race onto the Xbox 360 on October 27 in North America and days before that for Europe.

<![CDATA[Forza Developer Pushing Xbox 360]]> The old adage is that as a developer gets more familiar with a platform the better able it is to wring every last drop out of it. Forza developer Turn 10 is apparently doing that on what's believed to be Forza Motorsport 3. According to Turn 10 community manager Che Chou:

here's stuff being worked on here at Turn 10 that I simply can't talk about right now, but the progress we've made in the last six months has been absolutely incredible. The fact that we're working on our second game for Xbox 360 means our software architects have figured out ways to push the 360 in ways I didn't think were possible in terms of both visuals and performance. You'll pardon me if I sound a little excited, because, frankly, I'm frickin' psyched.

Just imagine how excited Chou will be on the next next Forza game. His head will pop!

<![CDATA[Xbox 360 Bundle Sells Out Right Here, Folks]]> Keep in mind that this is one store in one enormous Japanese city. Onward! French DSliteblog takes a break from its regular DS postings to bring word that retailer Yamada Denki in south Osaka has sold out of the limited edition ¥34,800 (US $302) bundle. The tag on the glass case says "kanbai shimashita," and that means SOLD OUT as of yesterday. (The bundle went on sale November 1.) Besides the console, the pack also includes copies of Forza Motorsport 2 and Viva Piñata. A slight, slight, slight glimmer of hope for Micrsoft's chances in The Land of the Rising Sun. Gotta favor: Can somebody check and see if hell has frozen over? Thanks.

<![CDATA[New 360 Double Game Bundles Discovered]]> Yesterday I got an email from a fellow who said he had found an image of a holiday bundle for the 360 and as there wasn't much more information available, I put on my Sherlock Holmes hat and got to work. After some rummaging about, I was able to turn up not only the Elite Bundle, but one for the Pro system as well marked as eventually being available in the US. The bundle will include the system and it's accessories plus two games, Forza 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. These images were discovered on a website Microsoft uses to market their products and while there was no pricing information available, the Elite image was clearly marked as "Xbox 360 Elite Holiday Value Bundle." Judging by the name, one can assume that this will be the Xbox's bundles available for the upcoming Thanksgiving/Christmas shopping season. Unless of course they are saving it for Flag Day, which means we won't see it till spring of next year.

<![CDATA[Forza 2's Disney Mobiles]]>

Customized Forza 2 paint jobs are ground we've covered before, but ground worth covering again. Reader Jeffrey Thomas sent us a link to his delightfully nerdy page "If Tinkerball Could Drive," which features customized Disney cars. As Kotakuite Jmel explains: "The forza2 paint system is all done using vector shapes. It is a layer system with over 4000 layers possible, allowing you to fit together shapes of the same color to make new shapes." That means creating this kind of paint jobs is HARD. So far, Jeffrey's done very impressive cars featuring Tinkerbell, Scar, Stitch and Jafar. He's not finished and making more. Oh, goodie!

<![CDATA[Brazil's Forza 2 Shindig]]>

Marcelo Vega from Brazilian site Xbox Today attended the Forza 2 pre-launch party and has the pics to prove it! He writes:

Just a quick recap: the press was invited to the pre lauch party of Forza Motorsport 2 at Granja Viana´s International Circuit (for Karts). After the press event, we were given the chance to participate on 2 tournaments: one on a real track and another on the 360 (Forza 2, of course). Both winners received a Forza 2 themed Trophy (and I almost won the Forza 2 tournament, with a memorable second place, losing only the last race).

As you can see in the pictures, there was a Stock Car there as well, as Microsoft sponsors Team Officer, where Duda Pamplona (a Brazilian Stock Car Champion) is the racer. It sure looks cools with the 360 logo on the front. Duda drove the Kart that can be seen in another picture, that also has the 360 logo on it (and it looks great).

Elsewhere the Forza 2 pre-launch parties got as interesting as playing the game on three Samsung monitors, proving once again that, yes, Brazilians know how to party.

<![CDATA[The Amazing Japanese Forza 2 Paint Jobs]]>

Xbox 360's Forza 2 just got released in Japan on May 24th, and the internet is already filled with truly spectacular geek paint jobs. Most cars are fully customizable, and Japanese players have been fully exploring this option. The paint jobs don't just contain obvious nerd standards like Gundam, Dragon Ball Z and THE iDOLM@STER, but also Choco Ball candy, KFC and Xbox 360!

<![CDATA[Forza 2's Complete Car List]]> The Forza 2 website has been updated with the final batch of top-end racing machines, completing list of rides available for the wildly ambitious racing sim. The grand total is 310 cars, from Acuras to Volvos and just about everything in-between, including 7 that are either pre-order bonuses, collectors edition extras, or the special Unicorn cards that will only be available in the in-game auction house using in-game credits, with no buyout. Fun!

I was hoping my car would make the list but apparently the elitist bastards are to high and mighty to include a 96 Nissan Sentra with its front end crushed by a landscape truck. Figures!

<![CDATA[TGS06: Bust a Move in Forza 2]]>

Forza 2 was on display for the first time at TGS, and what they had to show was looking very worthy of following up its hugely successful predecessor. Planning for the sequel started even before the launch of the original, and the game is now looking to make it out in the first quarter of 2007, after a delay that was deemed necessary in order to release a game that they'd be happy with.

As with the first one, the goal is to offer the most complete racing experience possible, offering up some 300 cars, and introducing for this version the Lamborghini and some BMW production cars. They were really pushing the fact that each car will offer high levels of customization, especially when it comes to the outside of the vehicles, which you should be able to mod to your hearts content with multiple levels of skins.

tgs-forza2b.jpg

Detail levels are also upped, so no more textures for parts like headlights, which really becomes noticeable when you see the amount of damage that can be done to the cars. Not only is damage apparent — and crunchy — parts that come off the cars will stay on the track until the end of the race, and will act as obstacles for other cars on the track.

The game won't have a cockpit view — it was deemed too difficult to include all those car interiors — so don't expect any PGR3 in-cockpit views. The game will support the Xbox 360 steering wheel, with force feedback and rumble support giving off different feels depending on the road surface, or even the set of tires equipped on the car.

As far as XBL support, multi-player races will include up to 12 cars, with a photo mode that will let you share pics (in jpeg format) of favorite racing moments. An additional community-based online mode will be announced in about a month. Do expect to be able to download new cars, tracks, but no word (or decisions) yet on pricing.
