@NeVeRMoRe666: Thats a pretty crass comment there bub.
Nice to know elitism still exists in other countries which have their own share of problems. They still find it necessary to thumb their noses at us when they get the chance.
@FrigidAir44: Oh no..you got me all wrong. I said "Americans"-thats some "Americans", I didn't mean to imply all. Certainly you could argue that there are some who have lived beyond their means and are still mindlessly spending no? (hence "the subprime mortgage crisis") Your problems are our problems, the worlds problems, I'm not naive nor arrogant enough to dare gloat at your problems. We all share them together. But still, it was people like that *points to buying $350 Wii's on a day where you are suppose to find deals*..thats most unnerving to me. Especially in times of need, we still are spending on gadgets that the family will undoubtedly forget about in 6 months. I didn't mean to offend and I hope I have clarified my position.
@themissing: If you haven't touched your Wii since a week after you got it, why'd you buy wii-fit?
As for me, like others on here, I'm having a blast on the Wii. My taste is a bit broader than most on here which explains how I can enjoy the Wii. I just wish that every wii article wasn't followed up with a dozen posts from angry teen fanboys, "OMG how can they like the wii, it's garbage and mine gathers dust!".
We get it. You're angry the Wii is selling well and you don't like it. Fine. Grow up people and move on. Be happy with your 360/PS3 and shut up about it already. Some of us enjoy all 3 consoles and don't need to bash on anything to sound cool.
No big surprise, all the people who aren't gamers (the huge majority of the population) are still trying to get their hands on a Wii.
Shit, I got my mother wanting to borrow my Wii after Christmas, she says all her co-workers use it to work out. The console is usually unplugged sitting next to my 360, so I have no problem lending it out.
In fact, last holiday season I let a young cousin of mine borrow it.
The Wii is the neglected step child compared to my 360 who gets spoiled.
@Dead Giveaway: "all the people who aren't gamers". I guess it's just people who look at the system, but never play a game then.
Yes I know you actualy meant hardcore gamers like us, jaded players who can't stand the idea of gaming these days being played like it was during the first consoles, and owners who own hundreds of games instead of just a few a year and thus happy with just a few great titles.
There is something wrong when the average price of a Wii is $349, and something even more wrong when that is only $6 less than the average price of a PS3.
Seriously eBay people, you should not pay that much for a Wii! Have some foresight and get it at a regular price the other 11 months of the year. This should not still be happening 2 years after it's released!
this is not unsurprising, but still. really? i've watched everyone around me, core gamers or not, and the general enthusiasm for the wii has slowly dissolved into a quiet (usually) mixture of malaise and disdain.
and then we get a story like this. i thought i kinda had my finger on the pulse... perhaps not, and my finger is instead on something icky.
I am also not surprised by this. but that's cuz I'm a hardcore gamer, I'm 27-years-old and the Wii is my favorite console of this generation... deal with it.
a song comes to mind: "why can't we be friends? why can't we be friends?"
About the same time the mainstream realise the electricity is no substitute for candles, central heating doesn't beat a roaring log fire and the guitar is a casual instrument that cannot reach the heights of expressiveness that you get from a piano.
@Dingler: well... if anything this is a failure for Nintendo. They aren't getting any more money when an Ebayer sells it marked up. If they had more supply then they'd be raking in more profits off retail sales.

Damn people should really check they're local stores before buying on ebay, I mean c'mon Nintendo have the things in the stores!

oh why bother?
