had this idea years ago...but in mine you would scroll out of FPS...into 3rd...then into squad...then into RTS. an awesome concept, but so hard to take into account all the variables. I am happy to see my once dream envisioned into something more tangible. Too bad I didn't patent it earlier on, but then again...concepts are hard to patent, and if I never got around to making or pitching said idea to a deveopment company (or being hired by one) the idea would sit in infinite limbo. :(
Looks pretty good, but not something i'd play. IT sounds like VC, but I think the over head view is really just a way to say you can play with a sky cam and move that way. not in a turn based fashion. this is just Ghost Recon with a less interesting HUD.
Hmmm, looks cool. I wonder if it'd work as well in multiplayer as that Natural Selection mod for Half-Life. That always seemed to me to be a fantastic blend of RTS and FPS (on the marine side, at least).
@Pombar: YES I'm pumped someone else out there played this. Natural Selection stole my entire freshman year at college, and I would gladly give it some more of my time. So many great memories!
hmm, this looks interesting, but I do wonder how the game will retain levels of suspense when you can simply change to RTS view to see upcoming ambushes...
I'll have to see this in action before I can really base an opinion, still, it could be good!
@Xuchilbara: They are terrible. They use the same shitty tactic pioneered by a certain game that I won't mention in which they make the gun in the foreground look as detailed as possible while leaving the environments and other characters bland with shitty textures. This always bugs the shit out of me because I don't look at the gun I look at what I'm shooting. Beautiful environments and character mapping are what make great graphics.
@Str8_Jihadin: And we have our first fanboy guess! I'm not gonna say what game I'm talking about because my point was about the graphical style, not the game itself.
You said the game had "bland and shitty textures" and people (who complained about KZ2) said that it reuses the same textures over and over again. Now, that doesn't quite mean that the textures are "bland and shitty" but I just took a shot.
@MistaSergio: It's counter hype. When a group of people tell you something is amazing and you look at it and it's looks pretty mediocre you tend to bash it.
This game looks pretty ordinary. It would have been a huge "meh" on the xbox 1 and it's getting a "meh" from PC/360/Ps3 gamers. Especially long time PC gamers which see this as the second advent of the "golden eye" fanboys. People who loved golden eye seem to also be presumptively loving conduit. But golden eye was a tremendously mediocre FPS in comparison to it's PC peers. The only people who were slaw jawed about it were Console only players.
still not a buy for me, more like a rent until I see what it's like. Making a fps on a machine meant for mindless waggling doesn't make too much sense to me, but we'll see.
There is no way this will be a good game period. If they were serious about being in control, they wouldn't release it in an unfinished state. Did anyone read the multiplayer preview just a week ago? High Voltage is trying to put lipstick on a pig once again, they did the same thing with Leisure Suit Larry.
Also, they have no had an 80% or better average game since 2000. Their average review scores even for current games are always below 70%, hell their last shooter America's Army has a 44% average. See for yourself-
@BishopSlayer: ok so going by your logic no one should have bothered with Street Fighter II because Street Fighter was absolute trash. Killzone 2 shouldn't be considered at all because the original killzone sucked total ass.
"Golden Eye" on the N64 has been sitting on the kings chair for console FPSs for way too long. Im quite looking forward for High Voltage's first attempt at the game and am expecting great things for the Wii's wiimote control capabilities. I think im not gonna get disapointed... but time will tell. =)
Golden Eye was the court jester of FPS's in general. In the console FPS Arena it was surpassed by Perfect Dark then Halo then COD4 with many good ones in between.
Golden eye was kind of nothing. It had decent level design and that was about it. Otherwise it was completely outclassed by it's PC peers. On Consoles it was soon outclassed as well.
@kingmanic: no, Goldeneye was THE FPS that console gamers played back in the day. any other assessment is bullshit. Perfect Dark wasn't as good as Goldeneye. It had better weapons and the bots were cool but framerate issues, dumbass story and lame stages (minus the goldeneye stages) killed it. Even some of the mission objectives in Perfect Dark were ridiculously stupid.
Of course it has been surpassed a long time ago but let's not be ignorant. Goldeneye defined what a console FPS could be in that era with a special mention to Turok and Turok2 for the insane weapons and boss battles.
As far as PC FPS gaming goes...console will never equal not to mention surpass PCs for the simple fact that console developers not called Epic still don't understand the concept of m/kb support. The only console FPS to come close to what the PC offers is UT3 on PS3. Mod support, m/kb support and Unreal Engine 3 support that's not equal to the PC but close enough to still be impressive.
The Conduit seems to be good for what it is but I can't full blame HV for some of the graphical shortcomings. Wii was old technology the day it arrived. I give them full credit for even providing a FPS with robust online support on Wii. At least they have some balls. The controls for The Conduit alone has me interesting in buying it. The only other game that has given me pure bliss in playing it starting from the controls up....is UT3. So yeah...The Conduit is one of the reasons my Wii hasn't been sold yet. I'm very curious to see how it turns out. If it delivers...High Voltage has a new dedicated fan.
This sounds like what happened to me when I was playing COD. for some reason my PS3 controller went bonkers and spun me around out of control for 5 seconds. I hate wireless sometimes and I miss the cord connecting to the console (not really).
(DEAD) Goldwings - Remembered for his bravery and heroism... xD was starred
(DEAD) Goldwings - Remembered for his bravery and heroism... xD was unstarred
I still suffer from 'ghost cord' syndrome. Passing off a wireless controller only to swing what would be the cord around the table or what have you. Its a big problem.
@goldwings: I sometimes miss the cord and sometimes don't.
As odd as it is, just having the cord hanging long is somewhat comforting.
'Tis why I have a wired 360 controllers and an extra long USB cable for my Dual Shock 3's. Whenever I'm missing some toe cuddling, they're right there for me.
Sounds fine and dandy. But what does it do, except being on the Wii?
But the turning sounds like a glaring problem. Not being able to reasonably turn sideways was one of the really annoying gameplay mechanics in Resident Evil 5, especially during the last boss.
The reason the remote starts to flip out is likely because it's detecting other IR signatures and that's throwing the remote into a frenzy from not knowing where to point.
I just tested this with my own Wii, pointing the remote over my shoulder, and picked up about 5-6 "dots".
To me, it seems to be a flaw in the design, I don't really think High Voltage can do too much about it.
@aw3str1k3r: I know you were probably just exaggerating, but I'm in a pedantic mood today. The WiiMote is limited in hardware to track only 4 IR sources at one time.
@Daz_Genetic: While they may not have been all on screen at the exact time, they were flickering fairly quickly. I've had similar situations with many, many more dots (I think I've had it trying to track about 15 at one point). Obviously it can't really track all of these, and it it causes the remote to act erratically - the dots rapidly changing places.

Why wouldn't you hope for a good game? I'm confused.
and the "control" issue has been addressed. Crecente's concern was handled...wheres the issues coming from?
you can feel or think whatever you like - I'm just wondering - based off -- what?? this game looks GOOD.
