Yeah, because I want my facebook friends and relatives seeing that I downloaded a demo featuring a large-
breasted woman with suggestively animated attacks.
Still, how many relatives or friends that are non-gamers will know what Bayonetta is? Unless they're like me, curious as hell, then they might google it up...so yeah you win. or lose? I DONT KNOW #ps3
hmmm...playing while I am supposed to be accomplishing something just got dangerous, now my PS3 will tell my wife while she is at work. Good thing it is optional. :) #ps3
@ShadowOdin of dubious snowiness: Nothing pleases people. I still would like some more avatars.. But shit PSN is free so I'm not complaining TOO much. #ps3
@EvilMetsFan: still a Mets fan.: Yeah its free, but they could offer Avatars you can buy, like Live Marketplace. Sony won't need to make those, but the game company/developers/publishers will.
On the dropdown for the avatar list there's a category that looks like its for PSN purchased avatars. But I searched the PSN store a lot of times and I can't find it. #ps3
There is only one thing that I really, really, really despise about the PS3 UI right now, and that's that the background darkens to an almost complete black at night, whether you want it to or not. I HATE THAT. I almost always play at night, so I never get to really see the color at all. Please, for the love of Pete, let me turn the day/night aspect OFF. PLEEEEAAAASSSEEEE!!!!! #ps3
I've got the Afrika dynamic theme (free off the JPN PSN store way back when) and it doesn't do that. Come to think of it though, even before that with other themes I've used, I don't remember it doing any darkness switching...
Does the default theme do the day/night thing? #ps3
@Strife Fox †: Well, I LIKE Original, (when it's full color and not dark), and I want the option to turn off day/night switching. Is that so hard to understand? #ps3
@MrBionic: Strife Fox Just told you how to do it. Is that so hard to understand? Follow his instructions and you get Full Color all the time with no day night switching. #ps3
Still waiting to see new avatars added. With so many games out there on the console now, where are the avatars from the more recent titles like LBP and so on? Even some generic (or our own) Home avatars would be nice.
So glad to see a less glaring friend list. Now here's to hoping they nix the background blur when you go into sub-menus and disappearing text while navigating menus. There's a certain point where looking sleek and pretty kills practicality and usability. #ps3
i would like to see a "hide" feature so i can i hide icons, since i am not using home, photochannel, etc.... creating my own clean XMB like version 1.5 but still with features of 3.o (and on going). Facebook is optional, thats great all that matters is having the choice, the choice to say "ney, don wanna use id" . i wished one could enter more details in the profile, so it would be more of a profile, for someone who wants to enter more info. #ps3
Can someone PLEASE! E-Mail Sony some NEW Hi-Rez Avatars. I've tried, friends have tried, countless forum members have tried...and still NOTHING.
Thanks Sony! Your selection sucks balls. Looks like a 6 year old picked them out. #ps3
Good progress, now I hope they have their minds set to fix the resolution of the XMB. The icons were large enough before 3.0, thank you very much. #ps3
Why are people complaining about a completely optional feature? I'm sorry to be so blunt, but stfu. Some people want the feature, if you don't, DON'T USE IT. #ps3
It's kind of ironic how that in a way, all the people bitching about this completely optional update (read: Facebook integration) are doing so in a system similar to FB. (Having an account on kotaku and posting on various game related articles is not too different from having a profile and commenting on other peoples' statuses and activities.) #ps3
@Trey: That is definitely one of the most ridiculous things I have read anyone ever post on this site. Facebook is shite for so many reasons, none of which apply to Kotaku. Facebook has invaded every factor of the lives of everyone I know. It logs the movement of so many people, between the status updates and photo tagging, you can hardly move without it being logged somewhere on Facebook. I've seen people sat in pubs on their iPhone updating it every few minutes. It's ridiculous. It's not the "commenting on statuses" that's the problem, it's the intrusive nature of the beast. Kotaku is a totally different kettle of fish.
@Ungruntled: Yet inherently, there is little difference. Which is to say, people only are complaining about: "oh no, you got some popular in my gaming console! You fiend!
@Ungruntled: Be mad at the people, not the site. It's pretty ignorant to attack a website and app just because you decided it would be cool to jog the other way. #ps3
Facebook features? Why not just a streamlined Facebook application? All this sharing trophies and status and whatnot is more of the clutter of twitter and less of what I'd expecting to be spamming my Facebook's friend feed. #ps3
@brass2themax: Yeah, I know it's optional, but I just want more from it if it's there :P -_- But it is kind of Facebook overkill now. On my phone, on my DSi, on the computer, on my iPod Touch... #ps3
@starscar.exe: And there ARE people who would like....or should i say are still waiting for
mkv support
A way to organize music, photos and games.
Cross game chat....er other people may care for it, not me tho ^_^
True i have never use facebook so this feature won't please me, but there's a couple of feature i would love to see happen...but facebook is not one of them. #ps3
@starscar.exe: Because, the people who need and use Facebook most likely have a computer and don't need to use it when playing games.
Where is all this "one system to rule them all" mentality coming from?
you can make the argument that it reduces the redundancy in life, but it really doesn't. It's obviously not going to offer you the complete facebook experience that you get on your computer so why add it to the PS3?
I think Sony is just trying to one-up Microsoft which also keeps adding useless shit. I mean I use my console to play games or play online. That's the only thing they do best. I have other "specific" devices for everything else that do what I want much better.
If you keep it up, in the end you're going to have a device that does a bit of everything but is good at nothing. #ps3
@Curse lily: Seriously, how often will anyone plan on using voice chat once they actually get it? Half of the people complaining about voice chat probably don't even have mics to begin with. I'm not in any rush to use voice chat. Hell, I rarely use voice chat on my 360 let alone anything else.
As for MKV support, I'm sure there's a legitimate reason why that hasn't been implemented yet. But, I'm sure they're considering it.
This update was probably just a quick fix/add-on and not really a huge update if you ask me. #ps3
@Curse lily: So do you question MS as well? There are lots of people who love to tweet and facebook let them have it. It's not like it has to be used just for those who do. #ps3
@Madness87: Cool. Next, tell MS to get rid of Netflix and Sony to purge every movie they have in their PSN catalog, because console are for playing video games only, dammit! #ps3
@Madness87: But it's not like the app is forced down your throat. I'm in the Xbox Update Preview and I actually have to LOOK for the Facebook function. It's not in your face on Dashboard, so there's no point in anyone complaining about its integration.
Once you do get Facebook on 360, then you actually put in your account info and it's synced or you can just leave it alone and don't bother. That simple.
Also, Facebook on PS3 is under Account Management, and not on the main XMB menu. If it's not there in plain sight, then you're not going to use it. It's not affecting your games (unless you want it to), so what's wrong? #ps3

Not that I would...just saying.
No thanks.
