Take Wii title Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn, which was released in Japan this past February. When it gets a North American release this November, the game will be retitled Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. No surprises there! Nintendo had previously announced that it was not going to use Goddess of Dawn in the title, begging the question why? The good news is that the game is getting 16:9 support — something the Japanese version doesn't have.

<![CDATA[Smash Bros. Brawl - Fire Emblem Represent!]]> A new challenger has appeared! Hailing from the world of Tellius, Ike from the GameCube title Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance joins the ultimate showdown of ultimate destiny. Wielding a massive two-handed sword in one hand and bringing his Aether attack from the GCN title with him, Ike is certainly bad ass enough to replace Roy and Marth, whose popularity in Super Smash Bros. Melee caused Nintendo to start publishing the Fire Emblem titles stateside in the first place.

<![CDATA[Let's DS Facening!]]> And the non-games don't stop! At least now, they're bringing an interesting add-on peripherial. This August, Nintendo is releasing Otona no DS Kao Training (AKA Face Training). The game, co-developed by Fire Emblem devs Intelligent Systems, teaches facial exercises that make skin more elastic and help mold a prettier face. This beauty theory is called "facening." Users try to mimic facial expressions and can see how close they are via the new camera peripheral that plugs into the GBA slot. That new camera add-on makes what could just another pedestrian non-game actually seem enticing. Really enticing.

<![CDATA[Clip: Fire Emblem's Japanese Trailer]]>

One of the few RPGs I can't wait to play. Though I think I might prefer a portable version over something on the Wii. I played through Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones on my Micro non-stop during one of my month-long vacations to Australia. Good times, good times.

<![CDATA[Wii Fire Emblem Shuns Gimmickry For Control Options]]> Look. Fire Emblem isn't going to sell Wiis to housewives, girlfriends and granddads. We all know it's going to sell to Fire Emblem fans and only to Fire Emblem fans. That's why no Wiimote waving gimmickry is required to control it and how Nintendo will get away with letting players control the turn-based strategy RPG however they damn well please.

Want to go classic? Turn the Wii-mote sideways. Want to justify the pricepoint of your Wii Classic Controller? Plug it in (for once)! Masochist? Thanks to lovable developer Intelligent Systems, you can even use your Gamecube controller.

Now you're playing Fire Emblem with power!

<![CDATA[Zombie City Tactics: Turn-Based Zombie Fighting!]]>

Not all of us are lucky to be able to play Dead Rising in order to cathartically work out our zombie killing instincts. Those of us who live in the Eurozone are so far deprived of the luxury. So how to get our fix of zombie killing mayhem?

How about Zombie City Tactics, a turn-based strategy game "about outsmarting and defeating massively superior enemy forces... perhaps!" Apparently, this is a prototype proof-of-concept for a further iteration on the idea, called Zombie City Survivors, which aims to combine "elements from Zombie City Tactics, Fire Emblem, Resident Evil and an obscure freeware Gameboy Color demo called Hungry are the Dead."

Why am I excited about this no-name project? Because I've long thought that the only genre that can accurately convey the same struggle against an inexhorable, insatiable zombie horde is actually the TBS. I can't wait to give this a try.
