I'm tired of the gimmicks nintendo. I'm going to buy a PSP and a PS3. I'm ready for a string of potentially great but generally mediocre games that look fantastic on their respective systems. Call me when you get your shit together.
Are they being released as a bundle or something? This is confusing to say the least. I originally though it would just the DS game ala Crystal Chronicles and you all using your DS's on the Wii.....
Have they completely pushed aside Crystal Chronicles : Crystal Bearers for this ? You know that game advertised when the Wii launched. It definitively looked more fun than this one.
I remember making fun of Crystal Bearers back when it was first announced for looking kinda childish and silly...now I feel bad, since we've got this monstrosity instead. =/
Oh wait? Square-Enix? Final Fantasy?... Well ok.. maybe I am being too prejudice against the average Wii game all of a sudden.
I am actually interested to see what this could mean for the average wii / ds owner who actually is interested in interconnectivity. I've been wanting to see what more could be done with it other than Pokemon. Who knows.. maybe this will be the gateway to more actual interesting content between the DS / Wii and perhaps.. *shock* less shovelware.
Two things would prevent this from being a decent (read that.. playable) game..
1) graphics not cleaned up at least some on the Wii
2) the lag between doing something on a DS and a Wii console wherever you were playing together from.
Square has, sadly, already confirmed that there'll be no difference in performance between the Wii and DS versions. The Wii version is basically just emulating the DS hardware via a special engine Square has licensed.
Yeah, and then went on to do absolutely NOTHING to convince gamers it was actually still active. They haven't shown a trailer, a screenshot, or anything of it in over a year. It's either vaporware, or it's on the verge of being cancelled.
The project's probably on the back burner for their other titles, hence why they have no new material to show. If they say it's not cancelled, then it's not cancelled. They have nothing to benefit from for lying about that.
Plus, it's different from the normal corporate response of "we don't comment on rumors."
@Spongehead56: yeah, it really doesn't make sense why they wouldn't... maybe better screen shots will appear closer to the release doing just that.. hopefully haha.
@Tampeh: nah it was in gamesTM this month definately the same engine as the DS version though WHY theyre doing this is probably a cost cutting measure as CC has never sold that well comparitively!
@Spongehead56: I was under the impression that the wii 'version' is actually piped from the DS cart. like when you share a cart via wifi connection with another DS.
Nope, there's two different products being sold: a DS game and a Wii game. Which both look identical.
Which is completely stupid.
I'm not going to say graphics are important, but this is a really, really poor use of the Wii hardware. S-E really should be ashamed for pulling this stunt.
That being said, I will be getting the DS version, as the game still looks fun.

How about both?

I'm just not a fan of that style. It's ugly, it's cutesy, and it's kinda soulless.

How can a game that only had a mere prerendered trailer look fun? You don't know a thing about the gameplay!

And there goes my only chance of this being any good. -Sigh-

It can still be a good game. Just a low-poly, low-res texture one.
It can still be fun, ya know?

I'm pretty sure they did say Crystal Bearers specifically.

Hell, if it's a game that gives me two options to play, then why not?

Still, I'll probably just buy the DS game and ignore the Wii version.
