The description makes it sound like a puzzle game where you have to flip between worlds in order to progress. Sounds like it could be interesting.

Excited about FFIV-2, though.

Dude. Pictobits is a ton of fun. They just started anyway, give them some time to form a library.

But still, saying "lol it all sucks" isn't very productive. If I were you, I'd be hoping for a new DSi Mario platformer tomorrow.

Crap, I still need to try Cocoto and Lit, also! There's about to be a deluge. In addition to everything you mentioned, there's Night Game, Adventure Island and Swords and Soldiers...

Now if only the DSi Ware wasn't getting crap like animal crossing clocks every monday. I still have 500 points to spend from back when I bought the system.

To say nothing of the fact that it sounds ominous that you're using a shovel for a whole year. What exactly are you burying or disinterring?

Still, each of them have a great "pick up and go" play style that I love, and they're fantastic for putting controlers in the hands of curious friends and family.

Art style cubello is very good. Not original but the Dr.Mario and the Tetris ones are great.

These were games we never thought would make it to VC so now that I can play FF6 on a tv, without using a shitty logitech or 360 controller and having to mess with emulator menus and whatnot, is a blessing.
Hell yeah Square Enix. Keep bringing out your old games cuz you sure as hell cant make good ones anymore.

FF X?
And so far XIII looks like a bunch of re-hashed shit.

The story was garbage, generic political intrigue. The characters sucked, the music was boring orchestrated bombast and lacked the originality and diversity of uematsu's tunes and the battle system was boring as hell and lacked the proper flash and fan service that FF games are known for.
I'm an FF purist. This series should've ended with FF IX and as far as I'm concerned, it did.
FF is
AMANO
UEMATSU
SAKAGUCHI
KITASE
and even though he's ruined it, NOMURA (to an extent)
And ask most people that have been playing RPGS for 20+ years and they'll tell you that VI and Chrono Trigger were the pinnacle of JRPGS, and they are.
Persona is the only series that is doing anything interesting right now.
03/25/09
Oh god, here we go again. Tetsuya Nomura ruined Final Fantasy. By... designing characters? I know he came up with the original concept for FFVII's story, but I don't think VII damaged the franchise as much as whiny "retro" fanboys like you seem to think.
Face it, things change. The industry has changed. Square Enix has changed along with it.
I've been playing JRPGs for about 15 years, and I find myself still enjoy some of S-E's newest stuff. The World Ends With You being a perfect example.
You can have fun being an "FF purist" whilst you rant on about the good old days in your little corner of the internet, then. Contrary to what you may believe, not all fans of the older FF games hate S-E with a burning passion like you do.
03/25/09
Square has really REALLY lost its touch though. It has nothing to do with being a retro gamer.
Lost Odyssey is exactly what SE needs to look at for inspiration because that game is exactly what the FF series should've evolved into. A mature plot with mature, MASCULINE characters that aren't a bunch of god-like pretty boys.
FF VII was great, so was VIII, and despite the cruddy art style, so was IX. X had its moments but it seems like ever since X came out, SE forgot how to make a good RPG.
Last Remant? GARBAGE
Star Ocean 3? Typical, generic JRPG. Hell, with a hero named "Edge Maverick" its kind of hard not to hate it
Infinite Undiscovery? Ughhh
The best games that SE has put out in the last 5 years have all been on the DS.
FF XIII doesn't even LOOK that great for a mainline FF game. Hell, that orange-haired guy (aka wakka 2) has to be one of the worst designed characters I've seen in a long long time (well aside from pretty much every generic pretty boy in the B-tier Tales Of series)
Versus XIII looks good but who the hell knows when its coming out and what its gonna play like. The fact that it's exclusive to PS3 makes no sense at all either, since PS3 is clearly the half aborted fetus of this console generation. So what happens? SE goes bankrupt by putting games on a system nobody owns or gives a shit about?
Or they can just keep bringing out Dragon Quest games in Japan and hope that keeps them in the black.
Either way, there's no denying that JRPGs have been on a decline for the last 10 years and it keeps getting worse. Rehashing the same stupid battle systems and storylines over and over and over again. The only problem LO had was its battle system, aside from that the game was fucking amazing.
Mistwalker has the potential to bring JRPGs back into the forefront. I just hope somebody notices.

@DontTouchMyDaughterYouFilthyGa...: still, uh...still runnin' around, being wrong about how awesome FF XII was, i see? you do make me wanna play Lost Odyssey, but seriously, XII = best one since VI. this whole "ask anybody" thing is nonsense; ive prolly been gaming longer than you and i still dont try to speak for everyone.
03/25/09
I mean, I played the SAME final fantasy as a child, not much has changed.
I'm not arguing, I just wish they could release new final fantasies, instead of remaking old ones. ( I am aware that they are working on a new one, just saying.)
