Final Fantasy is starting to remind me of that Peruvian band dressed in ethnic garb playing their traditional instruments every other block of a major a city center. Its a neat thing to see the first few times, but gets really old fast.
Any chance at a new IP with some effort behind it any time soon? Or is it now time for the Robot guy with silver face paint?
@Weegi: The ads have shown a Wii LAN-playing with DSes, but I haven't heard if they can LAN-play with each other. If they're just impersonating DSes then they shouldn't even need a router.
Is this the first game offer integration from the Wii to the DS? I know when the announced the Wii they talked all about integrating the two, but nothing beyond that has surfaced. A lot like the GBA to Gamecube link. Yeah, the Tingle guide in Wind Waker was okay, but completely pointless because it didn't open up any new areas or anything. Only showed you where rupies and chests were. Hopefully this works a little better than that.
@Gyaruson: Couldn't you download DS demos and stuff with your Wii for a long time now? Its not integration in a game but its still integration if I'm remembering it right.
@BPMΣ: Actually, you can do more than transfer with Battle Revolution. You can actually fight the whole battle from your DS. It's pretty nifty to see in action and works really well.
Oh, I did not know that. That's the type of stuff I was hoping to see when they announced that. Actually using your handheld device as something more than a rudimentary item locater or access to some 'sweet new outfits'. That's the type of stuff that intrigues me.
They should both come in the same package for $40, with the ability to take your Wii quest mobile. Currently it seams a bit weird to pay $40 for a Wii game that is a DS port.
You know, it really sucks that the Wii version lets you import Miis into the game. Because that's an amazing feature, and yet the rest of game is pretty crappy (compared to the DS version, which is exactly the same, but portable). And, as the Squenix fanboy that I am, I'll end up buying both versions. *sigh*
How about instead of sighing about it and giving into your fanboyish, stand up against your corporate overlord and say, "No! I will not accept this rubbish!"
@CockroachMan: Because not everyone thinks in "high-end graphic" mode. I mean, it's true.
I'd willingly sacrifice some graphics for the overall experience of playing together w/a few friends in the same room. Perhaps that's what still confounds people in this day and age, but there's nothing like mario partying with 3 other people in the same room.
@Bernard McGraw: It does kinda feel like the Nintendo consoles for the last few generations don't get to have a Final Fantasy that have lots of time and resources put into it the way the PS2 does...
@Mister_Jack: Maybe that's true for the most part, but Final Fantasy Tactics A2 last year was pretty much everything I wanted out of a game at the time.
@Mister_Jack: The first one on the 'cube required a copy of the game, 4 gameboy advance, and GBA link cables to play. Why did they do that when they could have just let you play with 4 controllers and been infinity better? To rip you off! That's why!
Wow. Might think about getting a friend in Japan to pick this one up, but I'll have to do research into the downloadable DSi stuff before I commit. $252 isn't nearly as bad as I expected and if I actually have any cash after Christmas, it might be a nice little present to myself.

Correct. Everyone's Nintendo Channel allows you to download demos to your DS from your Wii.
Pokémon Battle Revolution and My Pokémon Ranch let you transfer monsters from the DS games...
Animal Crossing: City Folk lets you transfer your character over from Wild World...
So, there is SOME Wii/DS intergration out there already... but not a whole lot.

@Foxstar Sixtail:
Yes, you are correct about downloading demos, but is this the first game on the DS to work with an accompanying game on the Wii?
@BPMΣ:
Yeah, but you could already transfer Pokemon in Pokemon Stadium on the N64, so this isn't really anything new.

That would've made the DS-on-Wii visuals easier to swallow.
But then S-E wouldn't make as much filthy profit from the project. We can't have that! Heavens, no!

Looks great on the DS, but I don't see why anyone would want to play it on the Wii.
