Today, Square Enix announced that free-to-play mobile title Final Fantasy Agito is shutting down. But don’t fret, this isn’t the end of Agito.
This week's biggest Tokyo Game Show news was Final Fantasy XV—hey, it's alive!—but while we were all gawking at bromantic road trips, Square Enix showed off a bunch of other Final Fantasy spinoffs that are worth at least a little attention.
Smartphone game Final Fantasy Agito is coming to the PS Vita in Japan as Final Fantasy Agito Plus on January 15, 2015. No word on a Western release.
Once upon a time, there was a game developed for cell phones called Final Fantasy Agito XIII. And when that game was moved to the PSP and became Final Fantasy Type-0, that meant the name was free to be used—which it has been by the new iOS/Android title Final Fantasy Agito.
It actually looks like a proper modern Final Fantasy game. That's a start, right?
