A while back we posted about those very cute Final Fantasy III toys, and now Tokyo's own Jean Snow has posted a pic of three he purchased. Jean writes:

There are 7 in all, and I got these 3: Privateer, Dragoon, and Red Mage. They had them on Play-Asia, but are now sold out — I got mine at the Post Hobby store in Ikebukuro's Parco.

Lovely Tokyo people, head over to Ikebukuro. Everyone else, wait until Play-Asia restocks!

<![CDATA[Final Fantasy III: Then and Now]]>

Yesterday, we posted a rather neat video of Square-Enix's upcoming Final Fantasy III. It showed us that the long loading times of old FF3 builds for the DS have been reduced from long, chunky grindings of internal DS cogs into brief flashes of existential white space.

But how does it compare to the original Final Fantasy 3 for the NES? Well, check out this cool little screen-by-screen comparison over at N-Games.de, which shows — despite a jump to an incremental dimension — that the game is still pretty damned loyal to its source.

<![CDATA[Who Are The Bobbleheads of Final Fantasy III?]]> Who are these hydrocephalics you'll be encountering in Final Fantasy III for the DS? How massively engorged with fluid will the bobble-head skulls be wobbling upon the scrawny shoulders of the protagonists' avatars?

In order to ease you into Final Fantasy's freakish world of big-headed blobs, Siliconera has posted a gallery of images of the characters you'll play in the upcoming remake. A young princess, an amnesiac, a blacksmith and a bookworm. Ingenious! Square Enix is somehow managing to cram all the gaming fantasy cliches onto the small DS cart.

Kidding aside, they are attractive if typically saccharine designs for what looks to be an attractive game. I'm looking forward to this only a smidge less than Final Fantasy VI finally coming to a damn portable.

Chris Kohler over at Game|Life has gruesomely hacked apart not one but two retro Nintendo cartridges to try to get Final Fantasy 3 for the Famicom working on his NES. And he's got the photo essay to prove it! A Gyromite cart not only had to be disemboweled, but also burned alive in order to cram the converter into the unit, but Chris eventually got the ghoulish contraption working. Hooray for home brew!

<![CDATA[Final Fantasy 3 Japanese Ad Scan]]> ff3scan.jpg

Remember when Final Fantasy 3 very clearly referred to Final Fantasy 6, but no one knew it?

But speaking of the real Final Fantasy 3 and its upcoming DS remake, the gamer pollywogs over at Jeux France have a scan of its latest advertisement in the pages of the Japanese magaine Shonen Jump.

Granted, it's pretty hard to tell just from looking at a scan, but does anyone else think this game's 3D graphics look pretty hydrocephucking awful?
