Regarding Bayonetta (who is getting a crazy amount of coverage on this site lately) - it's almost like the designer of the character did a survey of what guys find sexy, and tried to mash it all together into one, and it just didn't work.
Glasses ,check, long hair, check, tall, check, big boobs, check, long legs, check...but it's all out of proportion and looks weird.
@Plowking: I blame the jaggies and the resemblance to Sarah Palin. Still, she's vaguely sexy, which is pretty impressive considering those two caveats.
Not entirely related to the article at hand, but...
Just finished playing the demo, and I figured I'd share my thoughts here. I have to say I'm pretty sold. Not quite day 1 but I'm definitely more interested now. I'm still not a fan of the overall design and style for the game, but I have to say Platinum did a very good job of creating a stylish, visually interesting world. Contradictory, I know, but I don't really know how else to describe it.
The gameplay is really what sold me though. It's very familiar to Devil May Cry, but unique at the same time. Bayonetta definitely feels like her own character and not just a wannabe Dante with tits. It looks like there are a good number of combos to learn, and I really, really like the ability to pick up different weapons. It adds a good amount of variety. There's also some pretty cool things you can do with "Witch Time" (basically like bullet time and lets you do stupid combos) and implementations of the guns. There's a lot of shit going on at once, and I mean that in the best way possible. Flashy lights, blood, and sparkles galore. She is very sexed up, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. You can make her do one walk with an ass sway that seems more likely to be found in a 2 Live Crew music video than a game, and a few moves have some dips and pops that are pretty raucous, but otherwise it's not too bad.
Graphics were okay. The whole thing seemed a little fuzzy and washed out. Not sure if that's something that'll get polished in the final release or if it was my monitor or what. They definitely weren't bad, but for some reason I remember Devil May Cry 4 looking sharper. I don't have it around right now to compare though. I will say even in game her proportions are whack as fuck though. You really notice it in the cutscenes. Her head is too small, her neck too long, her hips too long, her legs too wide, and her arms hang like orangutans. It's not something you really notice when action's on screen, but she is very oddly built.
Voice acting was okay. It was all in English with Japanese subs. Nothing awful nothing spectacular either. And for a game like this I rarely pay attention to the voices anyway.
Overall, it changed my opinion on the game. I went from a "I'll wait till it drops to $30 or so" position to being much more inclined to pay full price. I'll wanna play it a few more times to be sure, but the gameplay was fun enough that my quips with the design weren't important. If your a fan of Devil May Cry or beat-em ups in a similiar vein, I don't really see a reason why you wouldn't like Bayonetta.
For those that are interested you can pick up the demo off the PSN. All you need is a Japanese account, and once you start downloading it you can even sign back in to your main account and play something else while you wait. It's about 1.1 gigs, so it'll probably take a bit for most. I'm not sure if it's up on the 360. I don't have a Japanese account to check.

Interesting. Maybe the blurryness is due to what was lost in the port from the 360. I'm going to test out both demos to see, but it's great to see the PS3 version isn't nearly as bad as people were expecting after that interview.
I always planned on getting it on the 360 though because I prefer the pad. :)
@Tiller: Yeah performance was fine. I was expecting prominent lag but it wasn't too bad at all. I think there was a minor hiccup when the big troll thing popped up the first time, but otherwise I didn't notice anything atrocious.
If anything I think the fuzziness may be attributed to the lack of free AA that the 360 gets. There are a few textures here and there that look a little blurry, but that too may be from the lack of free AA on the PS3.
I'm still not sure what system I want to get it for. I prefer the Dualshock for this kind of game, but if the 360 version looks significantly better I may go with that. Plus my 360 hasn't gotten much love lately, so who knows.
@MifuneT: Ivy pretty much casts that notion aside. Other than that, I'd say there are people who are in fact looking toward the actual game and not simply ogling at Bayonetta.
@dreamfall: Amen, brother.
I went to go by Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 today after playing the Bayonetta demo and didnt feel as excited as i had felt for NGS2. Seriously, i was pumped for it, but after playing the Bayonetta demo i wish i could get that instead.
damn you, japan. The game is already in english! gimme!!
@Cptn.PaxtonAstypalaea(Corsair): I think the most costly PG is the pearl-finished Wing Zero Custom that costs about $350... which is like $200ish over the price of the original PG.
That being said, even if this 1/60 whatever-grade RX-78-2 is made out of silver or something, buying it and screwing up the details would suck HARD.
@ppppp:
For a lot of people with extra cash, this might be a really nice thing to have around the basement for childhood memories. Similar to a Darth Vader statue or something. It has nothing to do with the laidability of the person.
Beside, if people who are obsessed with sci-fi cannot get laid, the genre would be dead LOOOONG ago. Clearly, they are producing offsprings - enough offsprings to keep the genre going.
@ppppp: Are you speaking from empirical knowledge? Look, If you've got a good enough job where you can throw away that much cash on something so small, I don't think getting laid is going to be a problem. Nice try.

I would sell a greater part of my soul for a Bayonetta Nendoroid though.

I think even the 13 year old boys that this game was made to appeal to are starting to get over it.
Also, tiny head + man hands.
