Most Overwatch characters are not related to each other, but as far as the community is concerned? The roster might as well be a big ‘ol family. Soldier 76, with his grumpy gruffness and ample experience in the field, is of course the dad.
Meet the newest Pokémon, Yungoos. The internet thinks he looks kiiiind of familiar.
According to Overwatch’s story, Hana Song used to be a professional StarCraft 2 player. That’s DVA’s entire schtick, really: she’s a big gamer. Fans have run with that premise, and taken it to its logical (and somehow adorable) conclusion.
Move over, Professor Sycamore. There’s a new daddy in town. (NSFW warning!)
Just in time for Dark Souls 3, Jameserton, a really dedicated fan, finished his animation about his painful journey through Dark Souls 2 and all its locations and bosses.
Childhood classics aren’t the only games with fan-made re-imaginations in Unreal Engine 4. Newer ones can get one too every now and then. And Bloodborne is a fantastic-looking game that deserves an homage like this.
Flowey is the first character you see in Undertale, and his story... let’s just say it’s unique. Also, turns out, it translates well to digital flipbook, or at least animated GIF form.
Not too realistic, because an overly realistic Star Fox cast would just be animals in flight jackets. But this is a good compromise.
In the far future depicted in this fan art, Link likely has an easier time dealing with Navi’s nagging. Who is now a robot. That can most likely be turned off. Isn’t the future great?
The Great Pyramid of Meereen, as depicted in the Game of Thrones TV show, as depicted in Minecraft. It’s as far from the books as you can get, but at least you can explore this version.
His Majesty King Leoric of Khanduras was already a decently badass-looking boss in Diablo III, especially considering his lowly status as the game’s first unique boss. Well, here, he’s on a whole other level.
Retro tech, abandoned coffee cups, unmade beds, monitors saying “LOST CONTACT” in all caps. Yep, that’s a deserted Alien space station, alright.
Very cool pixel-art versions of characters from various Blizzard games, that are also in Heroes of the Storm, by Daniel “Abysswolf” Oliver.
BioShock came out nearly nine years ago and used Unreal Engine 2.5, so it’s no wonder the Unreal Engine 4 project it inspired looks so sharp.
As in, a portrait made of actual table salt. Of Game of Thrones’s Daenerys, Mother of Dragons. Neat!
Undertale, naturally for an RPG where you can befriend monsters, has dates. A fan decided to slightly expand one of them.
Monument Valley is a pretty great iOS game. It’s so great, in fact, that it inspired a pretty great Minecraft map to go with it, and it does invoke the game’s visuals quite well (that is, until you go first-person, like you tend to do in Minecraft.)
Here are some aesthetically perfect Dragon Ball fan-pics by NicoTheSane, who remade four well-known locations from the series in 3D using a very cool, clear style.
This Baal is more like the Baal I’d imagine after dying over ten times in Diablo II Act V’s Worldstone Chamber.
