@Chanaluss: Agreed, pity for me. They have the legal right to shut these projects down and continue to produce dreck expansions, but I don't have to like it.
@DigitalHero: Thanks very much for linking that. I so loved that picture. It always reminded me of the AD&D art from the 80's. In fact the whole game had more in common with traditional D&D roots than modern RPG's seem to.
@Dragon_Warrior: It's ok. Keith Parkinson drew it... The picture is therefore perfect. That man could draw dragons, breasts, and fantasy landscapes better than any other. My vote for best fantasy artist to date. [www.keithparkinson.com]
Bonus points to whomever can identify which game "Fire Sea" was used for on the box/CD art. A quick clue, classic PC. [www.keithparkinson.com] Sorry I just saw the art and got chills as soon as I saw it. I never realized that he was the artist.
@DigitalHero: Agreed. While Everquest may have cost my going to college due to bad grades for playing until 3am every night, I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

Here is one of the best pieces of EQ artwork my Keith Parkinson.

Everquest was my first, I have never loved an MMO that much again even though I tried. /sigh

Ahh, Melidian Y'Mystique, I do miss thee, my half-elf Bard of the turquoise armors.
Fast forward to years later. Melidian has been reborn in Oblivion, and the effeminance (I just made that word up) lives.

Ugh, no. EQ was terrible on the PS2. FFXI is terrible as well, on PS2 and the 360.
Consoles don't need MMO's. They need multiplayer RPGs (ala Diablo).

I think there's definitely an opportunity there for people who maybe invested in a console, but don't want to upgrade their PC to play a new MMO.
They just need to incorporate keyboard and mouse support, without question.
