I guess there's nothing that absolutely forbids a guy from wearing it while he cooks — as long as he doesn't mind lace.

<![CDATA[Pokémon Menstrual Pad, Yours for Eight Bucks]]> If you're an environmentally conscious Pokémon fan on the rag, or know someone who is, have I got the gift for you.

That, dear readers, is a blue flannel custom made Pokémon-themed menstruation pad. Don't worry, Pikachu won't end up like Sissy Spacek in Carrie, he's on the other side of the battle. I think.

I think. Hell, I'm less qualified to talk about menstruation than I am about Warcraft. I haven't had a serious girlfriend in four years, and she preferred tampons. Handmade, washable menstrual pads seem to be a green alternative to buying up Stayfree and chucking them in the landfill. But Pokémon?

Unbelievable.

<![CDATA[Game Controllers That Clean Your Filthy Hands]]> You know those shaped soaps at your mother's house that no one is allowed to actually use? Here's our version, courtesy of Etsy seller Digitalsoaps.

Digitalsoaps offers our favorite video game weapons, lovingly recreated in the form of scented soap products. Take the green Xbox 360 controller above. Scented with Mountain Dew, it's the most extreme gaming soap ever created by the hands of man. The store also produces NES controllers, PlayStation controllers, Wii remotes, and a rather lovely Super Nintendo model, all present in the gallery below.

I love the contrast between the real item and the recreation. Game controllers are probably some of the dirtiest things in any gamer's household, and soap generally isn't found. Kidding! I am of course referring to the contrast between ultimate dirty and the embodiment of cleanliness that is soap or something like that.

The only problems I have with soap shaped like game controllers is that I could never bring myself to use them to clean myself, and if I got drunk enough I would totally try to eat them. To address that second concern there's the Digitalchocolates store.

<![CDATA[Fun Ways to Torture Your Pets: Katamari Damacy Costume]]> Have a dog that embarrasses easily? Still looking for a way to humiliate them this Halloween? This Katamari Damacy Prince costume may be just the ticket. I wish my dog were smaller, because I'd totally be ordering her one — and she thinks the height of humiliation is being forced to wear her light up, blinking reindeer horns during the Christmas season (little does she know what smaller dogs get forced to wear!). At a mere $30 for a custom-made outfit, it's certainly more reasonably priced than a lot of niche gamer gear — and oh-so-cute! The Etsy seller also has a few wee Nintendo controller necklaces for sale if you don't have a canine gracing your daily life.

<![CDATA[Child Gamer Indoctrination Kit Available Via Etsy]]> All new parents worry about how their little angel is going to turn out. The world is full of temptation and wonder that you fear may elevate or corrupt them. They could be upstanding, particle physicist olympians who volunteer at homeless shelters, or end up living out of the back of a van scavenging for roadkill to feed their 34 illegitimate brats. (Note: those are the only two options open, according to recent census data)

Worse, they might not like videogames.

No, no, it's too horrible to contemplate. Luckily this Etsy store is selling the essential kit you need to turn a newborn into a hardcore gamer - a Space Invaders onesie/babygrow, joystick bib and concentration-improving hat.

$5.99 plus shipping is a bargain, people. Remember - the children are our future.

<![CDATA[Metanet Ponders Animation, Sells Merchandise]]> Metanet, developers of XBLA's N+, are hard at work on their next title, Robotology, and have been openly discussing their development hurdles at their blog, a refreshing level of transparency on the process. Central to their difficulties right now seems to be moving past sprites to animation in the 2D setting:

We don't have animation properly "sussed" yet, otherwise we'd be able to better explain what the various aspects of the problem are.. all we can say for sure is that once you eschew sprites, it gets tricky ;) Of course, this is the whole point — if you want to avoid the limitations of a sprite-based system, you're necessarily going to have to deal with all of the problems that using sprites lets you avoid.

In the same post, though, the Metanet guys reveal they've set up an expansive Etsy shop of N+-themed merchandise. Merchandise! If you like cuffs, there are all kinds featuring scenes from the game, and some good-looking ninja shirts too.

<![CDATA[Yes, We Could Use Adorable Classic DS Covers]]> I'm generally pretty good about restraining from DS accessories purchases, but these classic Nintendo cases from an Etsy seller are a little piece of fantastic. Constructed of hand-sewn felt, the pieces are far from polished, mass-produced products, but that's precisely what makes them so charming in the first place. Pick one up for $13 or both for $21. In continuing with my fast food metric of the day, that's anywhere from 3-5 value meals.

<![CDATA[Tetris Skirt Makes Me Resent My Penis]]> Needless to say, men have it pretty good as far as general anatomical conveniences are concerned. But the trade-off of social stigmas regarding dress-wearing are starting to chafe now that we've found this Tetris skirt that goes for a mere $45 on Etsy. We recommend you find a girlfriend, relocate to Scotland, crush our post-Puritan social norms or, in the rare case that you are a actually a female who hasn't felt too ostracized by this post to stop reading by now, buy the skirt for yourself.

<![CDATA[Mario Blanket Proves Once Again That Grandmas Are Awesome]]> Let's review. The ultimate Mario: Raccoon Mario. The ultimate warming device: blankets. The ultimate Mario throw: quite possibly, this Raccoon Mario blanket. Constructed from 2-inch squares and backed with a solid black design, we don't believe that this Etsy-born product was actually sewn by a grandma, but it's close enough for us to feel all warm and fuzzy inside. While none are currently in stock, you can email the designer to purchase this unlicensed blanket of your very own for $85.

<![CDATA[Crocheted Mario and Friends]]> Crafty artist and Kotakuite Michelle Rheaume sends in some pics of her latest creation: a crocheted Mario with accompanying pins (or badges or brooches or whatever you call them where you are from). Mario himself is a stout eight inches tall with the accompanying pins being approximately one inch across. The whole set is available on Etsy for a rather hefty one hundred bucks. A perfect addition to your very expensive hand crafted Mario collection.

<![CDATA[Made To Order Nintendo Collages]]> It can be hard to walk that line between tasteful and tacky when it comes to video game art and memorabilia. But I'm really digging these Nintendo collages by DC-based artist Chris Lange. Each piece is handmade from old Nintendo Power magazines—yes, the art is 100% Nintendo born—and is made to order by request.

$250 may seem like a lot to some of our readers, but for a 30" x 20" piece of art that is based upon your particular various fetish fanboyisms, it's not such a bad deal. Personally, I'd love to stick about three of them up in my office/retro gaming room...and in that circumstance, it would start to become a more serious investment. My guess is that a printer-made template and a pile of magazines could make for a fun weekend, even if not a product quite as polished as Lange creates. Hit the jump for a bonus shot.

<![CDATA[Pac-Man T Ready For Your Mass Consumption]]> Jessica Fink's fabulous "Ghost Rider" design was snubbed by the pun-hungry voting masses at Threadless, but that didn't stop her from printing up her own batch of the Pac-Man inspired tee for those of you who loved it to death when we posted about it a year ago. It's up for sale at her Etsy shop, with printing numbers well into the "lots." Don't sleep on it, though, as the trademark stewards may be fashioning an e-mail within the day.

<![CDATA[The Ms. Pac-Man Necklace]]> Etsy does it again! Artist SparkleMe created this cute Ms. Pac Man necklace and put it up for sale on the craftster website not too long ago. Of course it didn't last long and sold almost immediately (these things always do), so if you were hoping to pick this up for your loved one or maybe yourself, I'm afraid you've missed the boat. Aeropause's Eric Munn already snapped up this beauty for his lovely wife. Sorry, maybe next time.

<![CDATA[The Tetris Cart Clock]]> I love Etsy. They always come through with some of the greatest home made gaming crafts. This little Tetris cart clock sold for a measly $18, but if you have a little time and knowhow, you could easily make one yourself. All you need is an old Nintendo cart, a drill, some inexpensive clockworks (available at almost any store with craft supplies), a plastic stand and some glue. I've actually made a few clocks in my time (just ask any of my friends about Christmas 2002) and they are incredibly easy and cheap to put together and the results are always great. Try it, you may like it.

Other Mario totes have been shown before, but you know, at the end of the day, you can't take those kinds of things to outside without looking about 12. This bag isn't busy, it's got an awesome pockets, and most of all, it looks expensive. Fortunately, it's not. A $10 tote? You can't go wrong.

Lostmitten is a master of the art of perlerbeads. Her creations have graced the hallowed halls of Kotaku Tower many times and today, we have another one. This time she has made an 8-bit Legend of Zelda notepad featuring Link on the front and an Octoroc on the back. Unfortunately (for us, not for her) Lostmitten's one of a kind creations go quickly and this one is already sold. Using these detailed photos and a little elbow grease, you could probably make one yourself, but if you're lazy, visit Lostmitten's Etsy page for a lovely array of game crafts at a nice cheap price.

Oh, perler beads, is there anything you can't do? You can make coasters, Mario boxes, Animal crossing characters and even decorate our local Ikeas. Now you can even help us keep all of our business cards organized with this fancy NES controller holder. One day I shall make a house of perler beads that will be known the world over. Of course, it will be rather flimsy and cold during the winter months, but it will look awesome.
