Here's an elf popping out of a cake to prove it.

Other festivities, both virtual and real-life are planned for EverQuest — most notably, a party at Fan Faire 2009 in Las Vegas this June and the declaration of Sony Online Entertainment Day in San Diego, California. That's what happens when you win an Emmy, kids, people notice you. Eventually.

EverQuest went live March 16, 1999 and rose to gamer fame over the next decade, spawning 15 expansions and a full-blown sequel that still feeds on the souls of the unwary MMO gamer.

<![CDATA[Nintendo Two-Time Emmy Award Winner]]>

What do Johnny Carson, Kelsey Grammer, and Nintendo all have in common? Why, they're all multi-Emmy Award winners, of course! At the Technological & Engineering Emmy Awards in Vegas on January 7, Nintendo was awarded its second Emmy for "excellence in engineering creativity". The award took into account the Wii's motion-sensor capabilities, as well as the touch and dual-screen display of the Nintendo DS. Nintendo won the Emmy last year for its plus-shaped D-pad, and reps from Nintendo say that the award recognizes the innovative direction Nintendo is heading, with more ingenuity planned for 2008 in the form of the Wii Fit board and the Wii Wheel for the upcoming Mario Kart. Congrats Nintendo!

<![CDATA[2008 Tech Emmy Winners]]> CES isn't the only show in Vega$. The 59th Annual Technology and Engineering Emmy Awards wrapped up earlier tonight at the Venetian Hotel. The tech Emmys are awarded to individuals, companies or organizations for developments which are improvements or "so innovative in nature that materially have affected the transmission, recording, or reception of television." Last year, Sony snagged an Emmy for the Xross Media Bar and the DualShock, while Nintendo bagged one for the Dpad. John Carmack picked one up as well for the development of 3D software engines. This year? Hit the jump for those exciting results. (Hint: 2008 winners above.)

<![CDATA[Microsoft Got An Emmy, Nintendo Got An Emmy, Sony Got Another...]]>

You here for yesterday's daisy chain of a clusterfuck? What. A. Mess. Now that we've got Sony's SIXAXIS DUAL SHOCK Emmy straightened out, time to shine the spotlight on other winners the National Television Academy honored. Microsoft picked up an Emmy for "Pioneering Work in Near and Real-Time Fully Programmable Shading Via Modern Graphics Processors" for its DirectX technology. Also, Nintendo snagged an Emmy for the D-pad in the "Peripheral Development and Technological Impact of Video Game Controllers" category, and Sony's Xross Media Bar was awarded another for "Outstanding Innovation and Achievement in Advanced Media Technology for the Best Use of Personal Media Display and Presentation Technology" (boys, let's shorten this category names 'kay?). So Microsoft got an Emmy, Nintendo got one and Sony bagged two. What, they now giving these things out at the airport?

<![CDATA[Sixaxis Gets Emmy Award]]>

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences gave the PLAYSTATION 3's Sixaxis controller the Technology and Engineering Emmy Award. Previously, Microsoft and Atari picked up Emmy Awards. Sony's Jack Tretton said:

The overwhelming consumer demand and critical acclaim for PS3 is testament of the platform's strength and the industry's desire for a true next-generation entertainment system. The full potential of this powerful machine has yet to be realized. What you've seen so far is just a taste of what will be on the table for 2007 and years to come.

And no, none of that "full potential" will rumble.
