That honestly made me smile. These two franchises (including Ouendan) are without a doubt my favorite DS titles next to the Castlevania and JUMP games. Good job to the creators.
I'm not hating, I'm just genuinely curious: Phoenix Wright seems like a video game pop phenom, but I've never played it and don't understand -why- it would be. Does anyone mind cluing me in on what the fuss is all about?
@Tanneseph: i wished it were a pop phenom... then that means it'd have a lot more support and they would've been putting out even more iterations of it.
not sure about everyone, but i enjoy it for its humor, some story plot twists, and puzzle component. the localization i feel is done very well and really helps as it is very text driven. it may not have a deep story, but it's good enough for me to enjoy and want to know more. the puzzle component isn't too hard that it'd turn me away from the game, but not too easy that i'd get bored.
another possible theory i have on its popularity may be due to the likability of the characters. despite it being a lawyer game, the characters can be light-hearted at times (even the prosecutor). i imagine people find themselves attached to the characters. it's got that 'anime flair' to it. i can see this game standing on its own as an anime. not sure if that attributes to the 'pop phenom' of the game, but just throwing it out there.
@Tanneseph: To play the other side.... And I LOVE these games, by the way....
~Because~ of the kind of game they are, they don't get the push or the exposure they should. A good chunk of gamers (and certainly what one to refer to as a "frat gamer") don't want to play a game where you literally just sit there and READ. Interaction is pretty minimal. You hit the button to continue the text, read some more.... Occasionally you get to investigate a crime scene, maybe take some finger prints. And in the trials you get to use your brain and present evidence to support the case. It's really not for everyone. But they're brilliant, hilarious, and involving. They're played and loved for their story and characters, and not for any sort of fancy game mechanics.
@Kris: Thanks to so many responders! I was away teaching a camp, which is why I haven't replied sooner.
So they are text-driven games with a solid plot, memorable characters, and actual character development? Yes, I need to play me one of these. Very much.
@gipmah: Well, it's so people are aware that there's more than just Phoenix Wright and Queen. There's a whole variety of music/levels to be played in Osu!.

Which version? Paul McCartney's or Guns n' Roses'? Personally, I like the GnR version more.

(Thanks in advance to any takers.)

If anyone has a tablet, then that might come in handy for this game. I think I do better with the tablet than the mouse.
