@ChalkdustTorture: Probably some sort of God mode cheat. I am hoping that they allow for some pretty hefty cheats so that you can make the videos easier.
It would be hard to pull off some of the stuff they're doing without a 'noclip' cheat. Or, being able to fly around the level willingly without a helicopter or something.
@TOWER_JUNKIE: It was, but It woulda been a liiiitle bit better if it wouldn't have shown Nico falling back down to the ground. If it would have freezed on his "happy" face in the air, faded the color (assuming that's possible), and then showed a logo on the screen or sumthin, it'd have been perfection.
Firstly, I'm ecstatic to see them rolling out this DLC so quickly, compared to Oblivion's Shivering Isles which took quite some time. Secondly, I'm equally thrilled to soon be able to continue playing past the main quest because the fact that it cuts you off after the credits roll broke my heart.
Awesome, awesome, awesome. Still, I hope that the focus on DLC doesn't divert any resources from getting a patch out the door. I've been having tons of problems with the game on my Xbox 360. It's getting frustrating.
@kylenalepa: Have you run into the issue of the game locking up when you try to use the Railway Rifle in VATS? Happened to me like 5 times before I finally decided to just shoot it from the hip.
dlc... for windows? whend that start? it better not cost money. or stupid fuckers better not buy it. that shit needs to stay on the consoles where it belongs.
only thing on that list im slightly interested in is the creation thing.
So much love for Bethesda on everything they have done for Fallout. These expansions plus the overall immersiveness of the game show that this really has been a labor of love for them in ressurecting one of the great franchies of RPG past.
/hats off to them! I may just have to buy additional copies of this as Xmas gifts this year.
@qhue: Yes! Hats off to Bethesda for turning Fallout into an empty, soulless husk of a SHOOTAN with half-assed attempts at implementing old mechanics. (broken VATS, horrible dialog, implausible quests, lack of consequence, taking an overall-dump on canon, etc.)
@fragoff: Soulless? Explain just how it's so different from the old games. Despite running on Oblivion's engine instead of being a top-down, completely turn-based environment, I really fail to see what's changed so much. The humor's still there (if you can read and you explore a bit, just like the old ones), and the overall environment/characters are similar.
People like you who throw around blanket accusations without offering a sliver of example to support your "points" add nothing to the discussion. Your whining can hardly be satisfying even to yourselves since it's so utterly devoid of content.
@Yossarian: If others get pats on the back to throwing blanket praises, then you won't get a tome of evidence from me for throwing blanket accusations. Especially here.
Really, it's not hard for someone who has played the old Fallout games, or even has a simple grasp of what a Role Playing Game is, to see problems with this game that I've trollishly alluded to.
I've played the old Fallout games, and loved them. I have a very good grasp of what a Role Playing Game is.
I still love this game.
I can, however, understand that some other people may not like it. Just stop with the "If you like it you don't know what RPG is!" stupidity. That said, I'm not going to condone the "If you don't like it you're a retard" stupidity either.
@Unknown-User: Pretty much. I like all of them. That being said, I don't mind people not liking or liking Fallout 3. I just mind people being trolls. Stop that.
@liquid_kore: lol same. If I could attach a rocket launcher and minigun to Dogmeat and have him march around like a Brumak, I might just pay for that. And if I could buy a pack mule to carry my extra loot, yup, I would probably pay for that too.
This is all well and fine. But at the moment I can't complete the storyline due to a crash bug at the Jefferson Memorial. How about diverting more resources towards getting a patch out so people can play the game that they paid for.
@arepeegee: I still don't get it. I've devoted over 100 hours to the game, beaten it twice, and I haven't experienced even one glitch. Nor freezes or anything, just a little pop-in every now and again but that's so common in games now that I think developers consider it 'acceptable.'
My neighbor hasn't experienced any bugs, either, but we are both using 360s so maybe it's just the PS3 version?
@Toasticus: Not necessarily. I know how it works, I'm a dev too ;)
I'm sure they have a team of artists/designers/engineers dedicated to the DLC as well as a team of people working on the patch.
The real point of my original statement was more that they should be reassuring their customers that they are working on resolving issues instead of simply announcing more features.
As someone else mentioned previously, if they would have prefaced this announcement with some details of their upcoming patch then I would have been a lot more satisfied. As it stands I have a level 19 character that can't continue with the main story thread so why would I be excited about additional content?
That is all. Let it be known that I agree they can develop new content and patch the game in parallel.
@arepeegee: Ah, gotcha. That's still more about PR focus and less about actually diverting resources though, I think. Again, I didn't mean to be obnoxious or insulting. People tend to forget that companies are composed of various highly specialized people, who you can't really just re-purpose into helping on whatever emergency may pop up.

How did they pull off that rocket launcher bit though?

DLC is all well and good, but how about you release a damn patch for your buggy game before trying to prep people to be frisked of their money?
The PS3 version I have is just sitting there unloved because I've been waiting for a patch since I heard of all the problems each platform has.
That said... I have a strong inkling of annoyance at the DLC deliberately not coming to the PS3... Oh well, yay for Microsoft's money.
