Looks great so far. The models and lighting look exceptional. The animations look a little stiff while standing stationary, but the fighting animations look great and are very smooth.
EA has finally succeeded in hyping me for this game. Two MMA games a year? What a dream come true for me. #eamma
Hey! Let's judge a game based on a 30 second commercial!
That said, I know the "pure" MMA fans are praying for someone to "murder" Lesnar as whatsisname says elsewhere in this thread, but I wouldn't bank on it. Fedor is the best, but acting like Lesnar has no chance is ignorant as hell. #eamma
@Elsmooth: Yeah, Tito Santana & Rick Martel. I used to like them when I was younger, but they used to get owned by Demolition, Axe and Smash. I used to love the wrasslin when I was younger.
The game doesn't look too bad, hopefully it plays as good as it looks. #eamma
@bdizzle4545: They were the tag team champs after the Hart Foundation and before Demolition. Not as popular as either, but the WWF needed to give it to some faces, and they weren't gonna give it to the Killer Bees (which pissed me off.) #eamma
Also, the movement looks much more natural in this preview then it ever did in Undisputed.
Undisputed had so much potential but zero longevity. Hopefully MMA will be much more fleshed out - although it's just going to be flat out harder due to the nature of the sport. #eamma
It was actually Fedor's management company, M-1, that was a big part in why The Last Emperor never got signed.
M-1 wanted to co-promote events with UFC, making UFC events effectively UFC/M-1. UFC balked, and now Fedor's going to be fighting sub-par heavyweights for the rest of his career. #easportsmma
The only reason Strikeforce is even known is pretty much because of Fedor. I for one eagerly await Fedor vs Lesnar, hopefully not when they are both washed up. Screw you strikeforce for making that match not possible. #easportsmma
@maraxusofk: screw you for not supporting an organization that pays its fighters fairly (not just the top dogs). Also, its Fedors fault not strikeforces. UFC didnt want to have to deal with Fedor's demands that his shady russian fight promotions company would get to coproduce events and other ridiculous shit. Dana White is right, Fedor is not serious about fightin in UFC. He is serious about making some $$$$$. #easportsmma
@Fateric2000: The UFC doesn't give a shit about any of it's fighters. Really, just look what they did to Cro-cop compared to Chuck Liddell. The very first fucking fight, they had him fight this monster that no one had even heard of. No entry fight at all, no respect for his image or his fanbase. They basically just took him in the organization and shit him out, ruined. Fuck UFC, and I completely agree with Fedor's caution in it. UFC has no interest in helping these people out.
Take Liddell for example, who has been babied every single fight, with every announcer pumping him up to no end as he loses to nobodies.
Atleast in Japan you could tell that the fans respected the fighters, and they could make money on marketing endorsements. Go to the UFC and you don't get anything, they will watch your career go up in flames and profit from it just as soon as help you.
@Shinta: What are you talking about? Gonzaga was a veritable nobody before destroying Mirko. They hand-picked an unknown for Mirko to smash, and he ended up being on the recieving end of the most ironic KO ever.
Also, despite your claims of "being shit out" Mirko is still fighting for the UFC, regardless of his poor performances. He is rumored to be fighting former IFL star Ben Rothwell next. Mirko is supposed to be a top-ranked HW, so blaming his loses on the UFC for not babying him enough are laughable, especially after what you say about Liddell.
Speaking of which, Liddell's only loses are against some of the highest ranked LHW's in the world in his waning years. These loses include fighters like Shogun and Rampage, which came from the Japanese organization you seem to hold at such high acclaim.
Go be a PRIDE bride somewhere else... #easportsmma
@vorpal_raddish: Gonzaga was a nobody, but he was a god damned beast. He looked like he was twice his size honestly. I'm seeing some parallels with the fight they want to set up with Fedor. And I'm not exactly blaming Cro-cop's losses on UFC, that would be ridiculous. I'm blaming them for not putting any consideration into making it even worthwhile for these guys to come over. They're already just talking shit on Fedor, saying he's scared, or that he's not serious and all this shit. It's just disrespectful, and it's typical of UFC.
They want Fedor to come over and lose, so they can discredit him, pump up their champion, and finally kill the last doubt that there are any fighters outside of UFC. That goal alone is ridiculous, as there are fighters all over the world, and the day UFC is the sole representation of martial arts is a sad day for the planet. There's just not a lot for Fedor to gain here, they're just setting him up for a fall, and I don't really believe the steroid/painkiller testing is foolproof in the US like everyone claims it is.
Pride actually felt like it was a collection of martial artists. UFC has amazing fighters, but everything about the culture of it is just disgusting.
But yeah really, don't get me started on Liddell. You don't really want to base your argument on backing someone who's that bad. He's tough as hell, no dispute there, but the guy is one of the worst fighters I've ever seen. He looks like he's going to fall over every time he throws a kick. #easportsmma
It's funny that a fighting game with a dude with a jaguar head and a giant bear can be successful (Tekken), but EA's MMA might suffer from a lack of recognizable real world fighters, save Fedor. #easportsmma
@GoonerVance: It's not going to sell worth a damn. 90% of the MMA fans are strictly UFC fans, and like you said, the only recognizable fighter will be Fedor. #easportsmma
