This first system is completely different from the one described in my e-mail. My survey took me to this far less attractive offer:

@Maldron: The one I got was like yours ... I sent some images to Kotaku, although I wouldn't have if I'd known they already had the story up -- couldn't access the place all day :P
Neat. It just became twice as easy to sell Edge cards at work. Although I think a lot of customers will actually be disappointed about not getting the magazine with it anymore.
It would be nice to be able to go one day. i know people will say PAX, but E3 is the bigger bash, imo, and just once I would liek to be able to experiennce the madness. I actually thought the TGS was ok, but once again, not E3.
Alas, unless Wells fargo opens a gaming department, or a journalism division, my wishes go unheard...
At least something good is happening amidst the recession the world is having.
I wonder who liked the new er old-new E3. The one where they forced journalists to commute one place to the next for press junkets seemingly set at the same time. Not to mention there were no booth babes, lacks the glamour of a supposedly thriving industry.
I'm glad the "old" E3 is back. Hopefully booth babes, extravagant halls and Kentia Hall are all back in action as well!
I would love to see what MS,Sony and Nintendo does to their booths!
@KillerBee: Why? I rather liked last years E3 and Ms. Dunaway's peice on perhaps one of the most innovative experiences about to grace any platform. It was both intellectually stimulating and exhilarating to say the least...actally no...no...I'm still trying to get over it. I can't sleep at night. All I see is Cammy and her giant head yelling nightmarishly into my ear night after night....DOGGY DOGGY DOGGY!!!!!
gawd, i would LOVE to attend this one of these years... why's it gotta be all the way across the country... there should be a committee to vote on where it takes place... like the superbowl or the olympics.
At least it's IN the same country as you. I want to go to E3 so badly but, I can't afford to fly over, buy the ticket, find somewhere to stay.. it's all too much. Wish UK had something of this scale.
@HyruleMonk: Yes you can. Just open up your wallet and hand over invisible dollars. Worth is exactly Free - yet somehow it has a higher value than USD.
While this is pretty reasonable, I have to wonder exactly what this says about this year's E3. Sure, it'll be a big event again, but without one of the biggest developers in the industry, who's to say it's going to be the be-all, end-all of events that the ESA is hoping for? It CAN be a success without Blizzard, but who's to say other developers aren't going to skip out on this E3? Especially when the initial reasoning for cutting E3 down to a smaller show was due to the cost, and right now, all of these companies are trying to cut back on costs as much as possible.
I would love to see E3 return to how it was when I went in 2005, but it looks less and less likely, no matter what the ESA tries at this point, that it can ever be the same again. If they do, though, congrats to them, and hopefully it helps promote the industry as much as it did in years past.
@grayfox9996: As what? A giant gathering of manchildren staring at boothmodels? Do we want to end like the various comic-cons? GDC is a start of a serious gathering of gaming folk that talk and exchange ideas in a serious manner. It's the same issue I have with most gaming related news sites and shows. Too much pandering to the immature and excitable self within ourselves. There are exceptions, but it's still a long way away until we have something in our industry comparable to Al Jazeera.
E3 was a mess back then and it's a mess now. It's either an overblowm, ridiculously expensive convention where the goal for developers is to have the biggest rock concert/most strippers in their booth to attract horny gamers with lots of cash, or a developer-only event with no interaction with the public who actually buy the games. E3 is really on the way out, conventions like PAX and GDC do everything E3 does, only better.
Why is everyone making the huge leap from "Blizzard don't want to go to E3" to "BLIZZARD WILL NEVER MAKE ANOTHER VIDEOGAME BUT WORLD OF WARCRAFT". Everyone has this paranoid fantasy that Blizzard is going to cancel two of their franchises they've been working on for years just because World of Warcaft makes money. I'm going to put a CRAZY thought out there: Maybe they're not going to E3 because it's a terrible, inclusive developer tradeshow since the cutbacks? Or that (As the article pointed out) they have their own convention to announce things at?

They're equally desirable!!

And then we can hear about how E3 was too hectic and there was not enough time to actually play the games!
Good times.
