So i wanted to buy Duke Nukem 3D from arcade store and surprise "THIS ITEM IS NOT AVAILABLE FROM YOUR CURRENT LOCATION". Sorry, but when is Bulgaria became Germany, Japan and Korea? On Major Nelson blog i read this "Availability: Not available in Germany, Japan and Korea". I tried to buy DOOM too and guess what? That's right, born at the wrong location again. What do i have to do in order to buy and play that game? Anyone? Anyone?!

Alex from, that's right, Bulgaria continues after the jump.

The other thing I'm very frustrated is that Microsoft Bulgaria (this mean that Microsoft too, right?) doesn't care for XBOX at all. I never saw any advertising of the XBOX/XBOX360/Zune or whatsoever. They not sell the consoles nor the games, they not provide any technical assistance/help. When something happens to your console, you will get it repaired if you go to Greece. Come on, WTF!?! Bulgaria is a small country i know, but is that the attitude and strategy Microsoft chose to win new costumers? I have to depend on some importers to buy from them the console or games and i have to pay more that retail price ofcourse. Good job Microsoft, this is the way you will win the console war.

Because dammit, Bulgaria decides the console winner. And right now, Bulgaria is so pissed at you, Microsoft.

<![CDATA[ New Duke Nukem Forever Screens In Duke 3D ]]>
Reader Rezz Man (possibly not his real name) sent us a link to a YouTube video showing off two hidden Duke Nukem Forever screenshots hidden in the Xbox Live Arcade release of Duke Nukem 3D. The two shots are the last two pictures unlocked in the game's gallery. From the video description:
First image appears to be Duke reloading his pistol in front of an enemy Octabrain. From the backdrop of the level, it looks like some sort of dam. You can see another Octabrain in the background on the top left. Second image is just Duke smirking with two scantily clad women in the background.

Of course this doesn't indicate the game is coming anytime soon; who knows how many bits of DNF concept art 3D Realms has floating around at this point. Still a nice nod to the fans who've been waiting forever for something, anything.

<![CDATA[ Duke Nukem 3D Kicks XBLA Ass This Wednesday ]]> Here's here to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and he's all out of gum! Duke Nukem makes his triumphant return to the gaming scene this week as Duke Nukem 3D this Wednesday for a measly 800 Microsoft points. The game features the tried and true gameplay of the original, along with 8 players co-op and DukeMatch games via Xbox Live, and the ability to save your matches and share them with friends. They've even added some technical improvements to the game in the form of controller vibration, bilinear filtering, motion blur, and Xbox Live Vision Camera support for those of you who want to add hand-motions to your trash talking.

It might not be Duke Nukem Forever, but then again what is yet?

<![CDATA[ Duke Nukem 3D XBLA Trailer ]]>
3D Realms have released a trailer for the timey-wimey-rewindey XBLA port of Duke Nukem 3D.

If you missed the news, it's the classic PC FPS given an XBLA tweaking with the ability to stop and replay the action at any point - like Braid but with more RPGs, lapdancers and probably-satirical porcine police officers.

<![CDATA[ Duke Nukem Hits XBLA on Sept. 24 ]]> Tucked away in Gametrailers TV's latest episode: The announcement that Duke Nukem 3D hits Xbox Live Arcade on Sept. 24. This isn't an official Microsoft announcement — 3D Realms reminds you to watch Major Nelson's blog for the official confirmation — so there's a chance that date may move. No word on how many points it will cost; 3D says that has to come from Microsoft itself.

<![CDATA[ Duke Nukem 3D Rewind Feature Explained ]]> In Friday's post about the Duke Nukem 3D XBLA port, we were pleased about the video sharing feature, but a bit puzzled over proposed 'time rewinding'. What, as Jerry Seinfeld will probably say if he becomes desperate for material, is up with that?

Turns out, both features are but two sides of the same coin. As you play the game in single or multi-player the game engine records everything you do. In multiplayer mode this translates to being able to create instant videos of your online antics that can be shared with fellow players for later gloating.

In single player mode you can create videos too, but you can also rewind through the recorded timeline and start playing again from any point - particularly useful for those pesky 'hidden lizard trooper' moments. Yes it is essentially cheating, but it does look like fun and will save you from the grind of play a little, save, play some more, save that some of the trickier single player levels could require.

<![CDATA[ Duke 3D To Feature Video Sharing, Time Rewinding ]]> The XBLA port of Duke Nukem 3D is to include some new features intended to spice up the classic run 'n' gun 'n' make-sexist-pun gameplay.

First up is the ability to record and share video clips of multiplayer games and share them with other players via Live. This is, frankly, genius - multiplayer was always Duke 3D's ace in the hole and the ability to record your friend's humiliation for posterity is an excellent idea.

Secondly — and slightly bafflingly — the single player elements of the game will incorporate a 'time rewinding' mechanic that we assume will be like that found in Prince Of Persia - Sands Of Time or perhaps Braid. Whether this is intended to make the game a bit easier or just to allow you to replay a particularly explody battle is unclear. It sounds a bit unnecessary, but perhaps it will all make sense when we actually see it.

<![CDATA[ Duke Nukem 3D Out "Sometime In September" ]]> Duke Nukem 3D for Xbox LIVE Arcade dated! Well, roughly. Xbox rep Jason Ing tells game site Joysitq that the 3D Realms developed title has passed certification and will be released "sometime in September". The enhanced Duke Nukem 3D is being published by Microsoft and is a XBLA exclusive. Insert obligatory Duke Nukem catchphrase here.

<![CDATA[ Duke Nukem XBLA Ready To Get Some ]]> There is a new Duke Nukem Game! No, sorry, not that one!

While we continue the Duke Nukem Forever death watch, 3D Realms has confirmed that the reissued Duke Nukem 3D for XBLA is not only finished, but has passed MS certification and ripe for release..

The original PC game (released in 1996! Good grief, I'm old) looks incredibly dated now, but the gameplay is still quite fun — especially on multiplayer. There is something just so satisfying about shrinking your opponents and squishing them beneath your size 13 combat boots..

<![CDATA[ Leaked Screens Of Duke Nukem 3D XBLA ]]>

Rumored and then confirmed earlier this year, Duke Nukem 3D is making its way to the Xbox Live Arcade this year, but when? The time could be near, as an anonymous tipster sends us several pictures of the game's XBLA entry. Of course it isn't available now...note the 1337 placeholder price tag...but the fact that these shots are coming out indicates the game is very close to release. Check out the other screens below, including a shot of the "Looks Like A Cleanup On Aisle Four" achievement, which makes stepping in a pile of shit fun!

<![CDATA[ Rumor: Duke Nukem Coming To XBLA In Mere Months ]]> We've been hearing rumors of an Xbox Live Arcade port of Duke Nukem 3D for many, many moons now. According to a report from IGN today, the long moon-watching wait may soon be over, as "sources close to 3D Realms" are pointing to a Duke Arcade release within the next several months. That XBLA remake is also said to come equipped with 4-player online co-op and 8-player deathmatch. Sounds good to us. We know that something has to pay the electric bill at 3D Realms while the final decade of spitshine is applied to Duke Nukem Forever.

<![CDATA[ Duke Nukem for Arcade Live? ]]> An interesting thread popped up over on the 3D Realms forums about bringing Duke Nukem 3D to Xbox Live.

Tons of fans want the game on their 360, especially after seeing 3D shooter grand-daddy Doom pop-up on Live last week, but the staff of 3D Realms point out that just because there is a demand for a game doesn't mean it will be met.

You'd be surprised what they've turned down. Don't just assume MS will want it just because you like it, and it's popular. Hate to sound defeatiest, but it's not as easy as "send it to Micorosoft and get it on there". It's a rather complicated procedure, and MS is fairly picky about what goes on there.
...
Sorry to sound so defeatist, but individual users won't do much of anything. Now if you could get something on the order of a million people to do the same thing, that might be different, but talking to one person like that isn't going to do anything.

Besides, if you can think of it, they already have - I'd bet on it. Plus as I said above, we've already talked about it ourselves. I talked about this yesterday with George, he's all up for the idea, but we don't have the time to do the port ourselves, plus there's the issue of whetther Microsoft would really want it. Don't just assume they would, there's a big submissions procedure to go through. Plus their release schedule is booked solid for quite awhile now, even if we delivered it to them today, I would imagine it wouldnt' come out for awhile anyway.

So there you have it, 3D Realms sounds interesting in getting their game on Live, but Microsoft is booked and not exactly beating down their doors.

<![CDATA[ Fileplanet Goes Old School Retro ]]> FilePlanet has put together an Old School game page, which is kind of cute. There's quite a few demos of classic games up there, including Doom, Shadow Warrior, NOLF2, Starcraft, Duke 3D and Diablo.

I've long since learned that the games I have the fondest memories of have been rendered nigh unplayable thanks to the evolutionary jumps of the spawn that game inspired. Still, the Half-Life demo is still worth playing, as it's essentially a lost chapter of the retail game. Knee Deep in the Dead remains a justifiable classic. It's surprising to note just how much game you got from your free download in the old days; it's hard not to feel cheated by a 600 meg, 15 second demo when Duke 3D Shareware is longer than most modern retail games.
