    I didn't enjoy Hotel Dusk as much as other adventure games. Normally, I love games with heavy lashings of dialogue (eg the Phoenix Wright series).

    However, while Phoenix Wright's story is very well tied in to the gameplay and has enough twists and turns to keep you glued to the screen for hours, Hotel Dusks's story was extremely slow-paced, with a complete lack of suspense until the final chapter, and was complemented by "puzzles" that held no challenge whatsoever and were as related to the plot as the numerous interactive knobs and levers in Myst.

    I still enjoyed the game as a storytelling experience, and I'll still probably buy the sequel, but I wouldn't consider it a classic adventure game.

    I bought this game on launch. I still can't bring myself to progress past the first story arc (the first hour and a half) because I found the game to be utterly boring. I gave it to my sister and she adored the hell out of it, playing through it several times.

    @(Starman) Starman [Key in repetitiveness.]: I like adventure games. If there was any adventure in Hotel Dusk, the developers should've tried to put some of it in the first hours of the game to keep my attention. Hotel Dusk is boring, even by adventure game standards. My sister tells me it picks up about halfway through, but I'm less than willing to sit through half an adventure game to get to the meat of the story when I can just pop in Etrian Odyssey and immediately be placed in the thick of things. The whole instant game over from certain innocent-looking conversation trees was a turn-off as well.

    It's shame, the game had some personality, but personality can't carry a game unless you're trying to be minimalistic on purpose, and making a minimalist adventure game sounds even worse than having to play it.

    @mintycrys is HOT for Bayonetta: Well perhaps I have more patience than you then, seeing as how I'm willing to sit hours grinding away in EARTHBOUND ZERO (yes, that game was awful in the Grinding category).

    I quite found it enjoyable, but I agree with the devs needing to take the audience at first chance, rather than just forcing them to wait before getting to the punchline.

    Also, while we're on the topic, how did you enjoy Etrian Odyssey and Trace Memory?

    @(Starman) Starman [Key in repetitiveness.]: I found Trace Memory to just....not be a very good game. The puzzles were very rolleyes.gif.

    Incidentally, I liked grinding in Mother Zero. There were only a few areas that you really needed to grind in (I love you, Woodoh!).

    Now, Etrian Oddysey is grindier than a Korean MMO. It's also the finest dungeon crawler made in many a year. Imagine Demon's Souls with more personality and a higher difficulty. And the second one is even harder! They are challenging games that you have to constantly play smart at to even stand a chance at survival. #hotelduskroom215

    I would LOVE to see a sequel for Hotel Dusk. I loved the original. Story, gameplay, and music were all wonderful.

    I walked a 9 mile round trip for the first hotel dusk. Worth it.

    @KassiaHaoe: I'm probably the last person on the planet but I dont have a mobile phone, i've just never needed one.
    I didnt know they were that good either, The missus has one and the photo's are terrible on it, but her's is getting on a bit anyway.

    also, whats the matter with having options? if they released a camera for it, you wouldnt be forced to buy it. #dsi

    @Blore07: There's nothing the matter with having option. But you realize those options will be most expensive, do less, and be overwhelmingly unpopular as they are already covered by the superior product known as a Cell Phone.

    Outside of portable gaming (which a cell phone would have trouble doing due to the lack of a real and comfortable gamepad) a cell phone is going to be able to do everything you need. I wouldn't write papers on it, or try to use the internet and be relaxed, but for quick looking things up, checking up on Facebook, playing music, taking basic photos (still would want a real digital camera for things you care about), and just being a PDA - why care about anything other than a cell phone? It's the ultimate all in one device. If your phone has a Flash on it, it'll work as a flashlight too.

    Get with the times. #dsi

    @KassiaHaoe: Wow, "get with the times" didnt think i'd see that outside of the 1990's.

    Some people dont want, or need a cellphone, why would I buy one, when I dont want a phone, I want a handheld games console, and having a camera for it would be quite a nice conveniance.

    I dont text, facebook, or feel the need to call on the move, so tell me, why would I buy a phone? #dsi

    I bet a lot of old people who have never used the internet think they don't need it too. But once you get it, it's like ZOMG.

    I live in Japan, where cellphones are ridiculous. The cell carriers here just announced their new lineup set for a release next month, and Softbank has a new one from Sharp coming out with a 12MP CCD camera, wi-fi, touch screen, etc etc.

    I dunno man, I guess if I never had a phone for some reason, I might feel the same as you, but if you got one of these sweet phones, you might get all giggly like me. I change phones too often, cause I get all excited about the new ones.

    @krushjudgement: You don't have to. It's more like a common theme, with recurring names, weapons and such. The stories however can completely be enjoyed on their own. If you want to try one, play the Dragon Quest V remake for the DS. It's considered one of the best and since it was released in February you might find it cheap. Or at least used. #dragonquest

    @amadeus3000: @krushjudgement: Agreed, just as I, II, and III form a trilogy but can also be enjoyed separately. I too would recommend V over IV, simply because of the "party conversation" button. I like my traditional RPGs to be narrative-driven (God knows turn-based battles aren't exactly exciting and innovative), and I found it to be a wonderful addition for both character development and entertainment.

    IV is quite good as well, as it tells its story in a unique chapter system, but lacks the character depth and plot twists that V has. #dragonquest

    @krushjudgement: While DQV is the superior game and is really transcended by Arte Piazza's skillful remake, I would still consider playing through DQIV. Very old school, but still surprisingly refreshing and original at times (like the Torneko chapter where you play a merchant).

    @krushjudgement: FYI, it might be kind of hard to find DQ V since it looks like Square Enix was sitting on a bunch of unsold copies of DQ IV and they only made a limited amount of DQ V. Ebay or maybe a used copy at Gamestop is probably your best choice. Places like Amazon have been sold out for several months, I did manage to snag one off Buy.com a couple months back however. #dragonquest
