I... I'd like to apologize to mister Schafer. Though I absolutely adore the humor and the style of Brutal Legend, it's a terrible chore to play. And I dread the idea of playing through another haphazard excessively chaotic battlefield of musical magic spells, nitro boosted super cars, and all too frequent command miscommunication.
Guys if you could do me a favor and just tell Mr. Schafer that he indeed is awesome and my copy of Brutal Legends will be arriving at the end of the month. Did enjoy the demo quite a bit.
Now lets see him and his crew pump out more games!
@D-K, stubbed his toe..*swears*: If I remember it and have this post open at the time I will. I've convinced myself to get Skype credit as soon as I get home this evening and get involved, it's too good of an opportunity to turn down really. Plus I have one or two questions of my own besides just phoning in to say thanks for all the awesome games.
@D-K, stubbed his toe..*swears*: I could have, if something wasn't (predictably) wrong on my end of Skype and I either didn't make it on, or did make it on, didn't know that I did, stayed silent and was passed over. My call was screened anyway and at least I know for again. Again being next week when hopefully there'll be a good few interesting topics that I could break ground on.
Seems like it's putting the cart before the horse to start promoting DLC for a game that needs a myriad of technical issues addressed for online play. Matchmaking and the network code is horribly broken. A little latency makes the game unbearable. No excuse for not including client-side prediction to smooth things out. Why are guitar solos so affected by lag? If this were my game, I'd be ashamed to release it so half-functional. #brutallegend
@Grandleon: I assume you're on PS3? The 360 version usually runs smooth as silk for me. Rarely ever have lag issues, disconnects, never crashes. Impressive really.
But I agree about the guitar solos. In the rare game I do have massive lag, pulling off guitar solos, is a bitch. Lag should never affect a guitar solo, as it hugely affects gameplay haveing to retry a solo 5 times in a row. #brutallegend
I doubt Sony is paying anyone anything for brutal legend dlc. I don't think enough people care quite frankly.
It has taken awhile, but the differences in strength between the 360 and ps3 are beginning to become more evident. Getting harder and harder to justify those xbl subscriptions. Its like MS were the only people on the block selling lemonade, but now a stand across the street is selling the same shit for free... #brutallegend
@Azures: I'd still pay for XBL. It's a great service, and with Netflix, Twitter, Facebook, and Last.fm on it, it just continues to get better. You'll know what i mean, when Ps3 gets Netflix. #brutallegend
@ShaughnTr0n: Lemme ask you something. What is the point of having facebook and twitter on xbl? Seriously. I can turn my body and grab my phone, or turn a little more and use my computer. Offering social networking that is already everywhere is not an innovation to pay for. Period.
What's gonna be the justification in a few weeks when we get Netflix. Do you LIKE paying to access last.fm on your xbox?
@Azures: Holy shit, 6 new replies. My point was completely missed here. Too much fanboy love for me to even reply to any of this anymore.
The fact is, i don't mind paying for it. If you guys are that uptight about your cash, for a reliable online gaming service, then you can enjoy your Ps3's. I, however, will enjoy chatting with all my friends, and will continue to do so. #brutallegend
@Jus in melancholy:
If it were more missions I'd be hard-pressed to say no to the DLC, but in no way am I ever going to pay for more maps to one of the worst multiplayer components ever. I wouldn't even download this if I had the PS3 version. #brutallegend
@Jus in melancholy:
Yeah, even though it's free. The multiplayer mode is such garbage that I wouldn't waste the storage space on it. I love the game, but the non-RTS-that-is-really-an-RTS element really annoyed me. #brutallegend
@VicViper: Seriously what ever happened to the "benefits" of having a gold account? What's that you say? I can play a game demo 24 hours before the rest of the world? $50 JUSTIFIED! #brutallegend
@rich8606: difference here is that "exclusive" DLC is free where you still have to pay for it on 360... besides its not free forever did you read the post? sony gets sponsers for dlc and stuff every so often, i love it. #brutallegend
@dreamfall: If I'm honest I didn't care for most of the gameplay, particularly the repetitive sub missions. I honestly don't think gameplay is a staple of Shafer's games, his earlier (and arguably best) work was on point and click adventures which are fairly easy to make. Even Psychonauts was relatively simple and unpolished now I think about it. I'd still say his games are good, just not for the gameplay. Brutal Legend was no exception. #brutallegend
The PS3 is THAT desperate? lol
A simple piece of DLC isn't going to change much lol. Well, unless it's the Tales of Vesperia added I mean FINISHING content for the 360 that the PS3 is getting on release. (Patty etc) #brutallegend
@JJKujo: I own both 360 and PS3. It is things like this that DO tip which game I pick up. I grabbed Arkham Asylum for PS3 over 360 because of the bonus Joker levels, and the entire game looked/ran equally well on both consoles.
So yes, it can change purchasing decisions. It is the beauty of owning both systems-- you get the best of both gaming worlds. #brutallegend
@NeVeRMoRe666: You'd think they'd find great political success as an up and coming aide, but alas, even the banality of that kind of job requires at least a teensy weensy modicum of logic. #brutallegend
@Duin: Yeah, if JJKujo had any sense at all he would realize that the PSTRIPLEFAIL had started to become desperate when they released Uncharted 2- The PS3 releasing a slew of great AAA titles to counter the 360s library? Hah. Talk about being desperate. #brutallegend
@NeVeRMoRe666: I don't understand this at all... If you had a company that at first was getting screwed by a different company.... Then you lowered your price and found that there is a 300% increase in sales in less then a month wouldn't you grab that a run to the hills?
I mean I don't sit here an call microsoft a money grabbing, consumer raping, ad push beast now do it? #brutallegend
