The developers feel your pain, and they plan to assuage it with regular double experience weekends, starting with the next three weekends in a row.

Things got a little slow for me in Aion around level 18 or so, so I for one welcome the introduction of regular double experience weekends, giving me good reason to hop online for a few hours and kill what little free time I have killing virtual things. The experience point boost counts towards crafting experience as well, so those of you who'd rather sit in one spot clicking things for hours are covered as well.

The only limitation here is that only levels 1-35 can take advantage of the extra experience. You've already surpassed level 35? That's what you get for out-leveling me. Take that.

Every weekend until the end of the year will bring double the experience points, with regular double XP weekends planned for once or twice a month thereafter. This is only a temporary fix, however, and NCsoft continues to study the progression process in order to find ways to make it less painful.

Speaking of less painful, this week's patch will also bring with it a reduction in the cost of Soul Healing, for those of you who keep dying for some silly reason. Silly Daevas.

<![CDATA[Celebrate 5 Years Of Killzone With Double XP]]> World of Warcraft isn't the only game turning five this week, with developer Guerrilla celebrating five years of Killzone all week long at Killzone.com, culminating in a weekend's worth of double XP goodness.

The original Killzone was release on the PlayStation 2 on November 26th, 2004. It wasn't all that great, but it did lay the foundation for Killzone 2 on the PlayStation 3, which was pretty great, so we'll let Guerrilla have its little celebration. It works out well for us anyway, what with a double XP weekend in Killzone 2 running the 27th through the 30th, and reduced prices on Killzone 2 DLC until December 10th. There's even a Killzone 2 retro tournament this weekend, using only the Beach Head and Southern Hills map from the second map pack.

Those of you who earnestly want to celebrate the original game can head over to Killzone.com, where this week there'll be a complete play through of the original game later this week, followed by a detailed comparison of the two titles next week.

Happy birthday, Killzone! We will celebrate this Thursday by eating until we pass out.

<![CDATA[Return To City Of Heroes For Double The XP]]> NCsoft is throwing open the gates of the City of Heroes to returning players next weekend, with double experience on tap for those with a bit of time to kill bad (or good) guys.

Between the Mission Architect and the recent addition of power customization, City of Heroes is a much more interesting place to be than it was at the beginning of the year, and Paragon Studios wants lapsed players to come back and see what they've been missing next weekend. From October 8th through the 11th, all accounts in good standing will be reactivated so players can simply download the client and go to town...or city. On top of that, everyone who plays during those days will earn experience points twice as fast. Just be prepared for that sudden stop when the event comes to a close.

<![CDATA[Celebrate Your Independence With Double Gears 2 XP]]> What better way to celebrate Independence Day weekend than sitting inside an air-conditioned house gathering twice the normal experience points in Gears of War 2?

With Title Update 4 dropping just in time for America to celebrate its independence from British tyranny, which seems a bit silly now that we look back, now is the perfect time to hold a double experience weekend in Gears of War 2. Executive producer Rod Fergusen agrees.

Starting Friday morning you'll be receiving double XP as well as a 500 XP bonus awarded to the winning team. And to give a little extra bang to Horde we're bringing the Ticker squad (a group of Tickers that all spawn at the same time) into full effect. They'll be showing up a lot more throughout all the waves of Horde and they've completely infested every 10th wave with nothing but Tickers. So if you've been having trouble with Bloodmounts, this weekend is a good time to get your Horde on and get further than ever before. And don't forget that TU4 will give you experience for every wave you beat.

Who needs fireworks and picnics, right?

<![CDATA[COD4 Weekend Brings Double XP, Half-Priced Maps]]> As we mentioned last week, this weekend is a special double XP weekend for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare players, though now it's now an Xbox 360 only weekend, with PS3 fans most likely getting the treatment a week later. <![CDATA[Call Of Duty 4 Double XP Weekend Imminent]]> Infinity Ward Director of Communications / Community Manager Robert Bowling reveals in his IAMfourzerotwo blog that he is currently readying promotional materials for a big Call of Duty 4 event taking place next weekend over Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. In his post he drops those two little words that CoD players (mainly those of us that suck) love to hear: Double XP.

I’m currently working on getting everything organized and together for an upcoming Xbox Live / PSN promotion we have coming up the weekend of Sept. 13th - 14th. Which isn’t this weekend, but next weekend. I will have exact details on what it is in the near future but I have a gut feeling it’ll have Double XP attached to it for all those hungry for some power-leveling on Call of Duty 4.

Bowling further explained that he is hoping to get the new playlists finished in time to make it one big promotion. Woot!
