I just bought this game for my 3GS. It runs smoothly and from only playing for about 5 minutes I could tell it is and will be awesome to play. There is another great feature that lets you brighten the graphics when you want to, just by on click in the pause menu (no tricky graphics settings). So far I think it is well worth the $9.99. Then again I like Fallout 3 so much that I would pay $300 for it so maybe my pricing views on games are a little screwed up!
@jslizzle: I liked Fallout 3 and all but $300 is a bit too extreme, it wasn't the best game in the world man, but funnily enough, I guess some people might have payed around $300 just to play it, if not more... (Consoles .etc) What a crazy world we live in, eh?
@conditionals: You know, I only watched that movie on friday, I was told how bad it was by everyone so I never got round to it.
What fools they were! It was classic, I dont think they understood that it was supposed to be cheesy, tounge in cheek kinda comedy along with the staple of action you'd expect.
And the Rock was great in it too which I didnt expect, its the first time i've seen a film with him in, he's good.
Speaking of Doom, if they quickly port the original w/ Wolfentstein's controls, I'd buy that instantly! But Resurrection is more than welcome to enter my iPod Touch game collection too. I love games like Time Crisis & HotD (TC on iPod is ehh... ok, demos FTW) so I think ID will do this right.
How do you aim? Looks like shooting is handled by touching bottom right corner of the screen, is it auto aim as well or will these pretty graphics be hidden by my well manicured finger nail?
Doom for the iphone actually plays pretty well. Carmack let me play a few mins of it at project A-kon. Looks smooth, and had some awesome features for a cellphone game.
Carmack actually talked at length about iphone development at the con. He's a major fan of the platform, seems to let him get down to work quickly and easily. He's literally coding in his spare time while not working on Rage and stuff like Doom 4.
Id also seems to like it at as a whole. Aprently they even hired a guy on the basis that he solo wrote an iphone app. Makes me wonder what else they have in store. Well, besides the platformer he wants to make.
And yes, I asked about Keen. He talked a bit about it, but wouldn't say if they would be making any iphone/xbl/psn/etc Keen games, but he did admit it was their platformer series of note. Also mentioned he didn't think there is as much a market for retro PC platformers like there is for retro console games.

Hell Wolfenstein 3d was worth the $5 I spent so drop Doom to $7 and I will pick it up.

left thumb = forward back left right
right thumb = camera look
how can you jump or shoot and move the character and camera at the same time?
