The game ships to North America on Tuesday, meaning a review is in order. It's going to mean a bit of backtracking, unfortunately. Perhaps re-tracking, as I'll have to revert to an older save to get the job done. More about that on Tuesday.

Otherwise, I might tinker around with Doom III — never did get around to playing it — and punishing myself with some Wario Land: Shake It! challenge missions. Add prepping for a Tokyo vacation and TGS coverage and you got yourself a weekend? How's about you?

<![CDATA[Don't Hate On Doom III, It Made Money]]> Some people don't like id Software's Doom III, saying, yeah, that game just isn't very good. Company CEO Todd Hollenshead has a message for those people:

I think there are three people on the internet that keep making these posts that Doom III was 'bad'... There's some mass-misperception out there... I get this occasionally — why don't I think Doom III was successful? We sold over three million units! It's the most successful game in id's history.

Take that haters! Doom III made money, and money can buy things. So there.

<![CDATA[It's Like Doom, But With Jesus]]>

The "Great Conquest Collection" is a six-pack of PC games that provide over 70 hours of gaming. With Jesus. The company's website says something harps about providing "wholesome family entertainment" and trying to "distribute games that are an alternative to violent and explicit games." Yet, the site's review section chooses this dozy of quote from Soteria Magazine's Rob Allwright:

These games are the equivalent to violent games such as DOOM III, however these games have been built to encourage the younger Christians with Biblical values in a storyline about spiritual warfare. The gameplay rivals that of any in the secular market and the graphics are good, although without the budget of the more recent titles. With over 1000 verses of scripture quoted in this collection there is a lot of good in these games.

Doom III with Jesus? Funny, I thought he'd be more of a Half-Life 2 kind of guy.
