Not that I don't love him, but it's actually kind of refreshing to hear Miyamoto criticism... actually I don't think I've ever heard ANYONE criticize the man before this.

But in the end, none of them have the development history he has. Or the sales numbers.

There is certain behavior that is just plain wrong and retarded that no one should be obligated to "tolerate" and not openly mock. You aren't "expressing yourself" you are a profoundly disturbed individual that needs help.

You're an idiot. Grow the fuck up.
04/04/09
Geeze, are you a furry? If so please kill yourself. Unless you're also black or a jew. The awesomeness of those races just barely cancels out the retardedness of your Furry Fandom

If I found out my son was a furry Id beat him mercilessly and kick him out into the street then burn down my house and move across the country and deny I ever had a son.
Same goes for secondlife.

@collinc:Wii Music was not a game designed for the typical 'hardcore' gamer. So while you may feel he lost his touch, the sales and deepness of the game (Which most of the folks on this blog haven't played), speak otherwise.

Can we PLEASE stop talking about furries all the time on Kotaku? The only reason this seems to keep coming into discussion is because commentors and editors keep bringing it up. The actual furries THEMSELVES never seem to come on here trying to convert anybody or talk about why their fandom is so great. Just leave them alone in their own little self-contained community and worry about something else. They really aren't hurting anybody.

But yeah. Gotta agree with ya.

That being said, KittyF***ingForeman's joke about the difference between furries and fleas further up the page was pretty damn funny. I don't think it's ever right to hate on an entire group of people who don't mean anybody any harm, but at the same time everybody should be able to take a joke.

John 8:7 - When they persisted in questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let the person among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her."
Every, and I mean every, grown person has a fetish, hobby, preference, etc that someone in the world is going to look down upon. Some of them, obviously, are wrong and should be discouraged and disdained but calling a group of people retarded for liking animal-like huminoids isn't one of them.
Ever see 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit'? Can you say, hand on your heart, that you found nothing sexually appealing about Jessica Rabbit? She wasn't a furry but finding her sexually appealing could be construed as having a hentai fetish which many people look down upon also.
The fact is that the presence of a sexualized Huminoid body is processed as a sexually appealing shape in the brain hence the existence of furry and hentai fetishists.
Your comment shows a lack of understanding for how the mind works and an intolerance that's disgustingly ugly.

He does make me think even further that Miyamoto is not quite the driving force behind all of Nintendo's success like people believe. He is probably behind alot of it, but he is probably also the driving force behind games like Wii Music and Star Fox Assault... in short I think when Miyamoto shits it is turds just like the rest of us...

In total I have max heard one person praise either of those games. The others would mention how bad they are.

Assault suffered from coming in too late in the Cube's lifespan and also from having what seems like the Namco 'C' team on it, but it wasn't a Lair or Haze level failure by any means.
Wii Music still charts in the US, UK and sometimes in Japan. It hasn't made Fit, Sports or Play sales levels, but it has all the earmarks of a evergreen title, which isn't bad for a side project that Shiggy had to beg for a green light for from NCL. I honestly don't think people spend any real time with it, for which I will say it's limited song list, due to Nintendo not wishing to spend massive amounts of money landing songs is one reason for that. That and it's again, a causal focused title with a element of hardcore buried within.
Heck just watching some of which people with serious music cred can do with it on the Nintendo Channel is amazing, because it's a LOT harder then it looks and just shaking the Wii-mote around won't get you anywhere as i've found out playing it many times.

The point is that some games just won't appeal to everyone. Soccer moms won't play Star Fox, no matter how you dress it up. Old folks, young women, nope. Young boys, young men and furries. That is, indeed, who that franchise appeals to. (in general, of course) It's like trying to make Metroid more accessible - it is, by definition, a difficult and hardcore premise, and you may as well make up a new franchise as dilute it.
Another question is why another company doesn't attempt to do a Star Fox-esque game on the Wii. They know the fans want it, and I don't think it would be as hard to program an on-rails / 3D shooter as some other blockbusters. Just get the word out that you're being faithful to the Star Fox gameplay tradition and make noises about this one being for the 'core'. The Conduit has gotten a head of steam and plenty of great press from similar tactics on Wii, let's see if it turns into sales without a Nintendo franchise attached.
People have talked so much about Nintendo abandoning the 'core' or 'traditional' gamer over the last year or two that the argument has become a stale shouting war. But I really feel like a more mature company than Nintendo would realise they are now servicing two different markets and should find a way to make two steady streams of suitable games for both as oppossed to attempting to make all of their games appeal to both markets. A new Star Fox would be a great way to service old Nintendo fans. Would it sell like Brain Age or Wii Fit? Probably not. It would probably sell 1-3 million copies. Could it turn a profit? Probably. Like the rest of you, I won't hold my breath.

"but Miyamoto doesn't really care about that. He wants to make what he wants to make, so he just goes ahead and gets it done."
Miyamoto was the creator of Fox McCloud and crew. He got the idea from his wedding at the Inari shrine at Nara back in the early 1990's. It's his baby, you think anyone save for the Old Nintendo Dragon God is going to tell him no? (And even he never really told Shiggy no.)
I thought Naka was the only one who had himself a case of Siggy butthurt, but it seems Cuthbert does too.

As the prez of a games company completely reliant on it's fans and their buying of the said companies' games.. this guy's a real dick. Now commence the furry jokes....

At least shampoo can keep worms from coming on your dog.
Dohohohohohoho~

Oh no, I think I'm describing a Star Fox rails shooter. Scrap that.
