Who's that? Why, the Korean developer of the DJ Max and DJ Max Portable series of rhythm games, of course! At issue was that Pentavision made a music game without Konami's permission.

To be fair, Konami's actually claiming patent infringement and intellectual property rights infringement, or as close to it as we can gather. Konami of Korea issued a statement about the lawsuit earlier today, so we're trusting Google Translate to guide us through Korean legalese.

Konami looks to have filed the lawsuit in the Seoul Central District Court yesterday, seeking damages and to prohibit Pentavision from selling offending products.

Konami filed suit against Harmonix, MTV and Viacom earlier this year over patents it alleges were violated by Rock Band.

We've contacted Konami for comment and will update when we hear more.

<![CDATA[Korea Getting More DJ Max (More Pretty Art)]]> Korean developer Pentavision has announced that, yes, there isn't just one new DJ Max title coming out, but two. The PSP rhythm title will be released in two different forms: Clazziquai Edition and Black Square. Pentavision is trying to satisfy both casual and hardcore gamers, but Korean website Ruliweb doesn't specify if these each are divided for those purposes or if both editions will feature separate modes for casual and hardcore players. Like DJ Max Fever, these new DJ Max titles have great looking art.

As Kotakuite Torokun points out: "I did notice that CE includes a lot of mainstream musicians."

<![CDATA[Groove To DJ Max Portable 2]]>

Korean dwelling peoples, you're gonna have to wait till February or March to play DJ Max Portable 2, but can hear sample tunes over at Ruliweb now. It's all very clubby. Just click on the blue lettering to listen the music (toggling back and forth is a pain, though). Don't think this game has a U.S. publisher yet, but damn, it should!

<![CDATA[The Overlooked PSP Game]]>

It's a crapshoot, really. Some cool games get English localization. Some bad ones get it. Other never do, staying forever out of most Westerner's hands. While tiny percentage of really neat titles already with loads of English never get a US/Euro release.

Take DJ MAX. It's a Korean rhythm game (think DDR for the PSP and the PC) that appears to have been produced with the outside world in mind with the menu almost entirely in English, but the game has yet to achieve beyond import status. The video above is on the easiest setting — 4 button mode. It goes up to 8 button plus analog. It seemed poised to ride in Lumines' wake, but sadly, never did.

The game's company, Pentavision, just announced DJ MAX 2 for the PSP and, at the moment, Korea. Publishers, are you listening?
