Even though I'm a fan of the series, I'm not terribly disappointed.
I already played 3. I played FES, replayed it. And I just don't really feel like playing the same game again. I mean, it's a long game. Replaying it takes dedication.
Edit: wait, crap. I thought this was the remake of three, and forgot there was a remake of 1. Disregard everything I said, because I'm actually quite excited about a Persona 1 remake. Go ahead and kill me with bears whenever.
@RyderJ: Its not a remake its a simple port with minor changes done to it mainly sound effects / music. Also the difficulty seems to have dropped from the original PS version.
@Witzbold: I consider this a remake because the game has been modified to run full widescreen on the PSP. The full Snow Queen quest that was dropped from the US PSX version has been translated and added.
The graphics have been redone and the bad translation/localization choices that were made in the original game have been corrected.
@Witzbold: Sorry, you're wrong. As SScorpio outlined above, there are major interface and graphical enhancements, including helptext where none existed before.
Ugh, why are they releasing it on the PSP? I'm a big fan of P3 and really want to get the game, but the PSP doesn't have enough (not even one comes to mind) games I want to warrant a purchase.
@Bizzenya: Wouldn't this be one of them? There's plenty of stuff on the PSP worth playing, if you think it has no games at this point you're either ignorant, or you're not looking hard enough.
@Archaotic: Obviously Persona would be ONE of them. Problem is, even after pouring over the top 400 games on the PSP not much grabbed my attention. Not saying it is a bad system, it just doesn't have that many games that appeal to me.
To anyone who thinks this will be like P3 or P4 turn around and go home right now.
If you started on P3 and P4 this game is not for you either and most likely you will get frustrated and never play it again due to how much more time consuming it is in comparison to the later persona "lite" games.
The joys of the headaches getting the cards to make new personas.
I still hate the fact that they fucked with the original soundtrack and made some re-arranged garbage. :/
@AliShaikh: Lots of pissed of people huh... And the comment was even promoted so that more people could see it. Woah.
Those who pirate never really gives a crap what others on the internet say to them. Leaving him alone and not talking to him is more effective than calling names.
But since we're doing it anyway....
AliShaikh, people like you are the reason why the PS-
@BlisteringOrange: When a starred commenter replies to a post, it is automatically promoted whether we like it or not. I think that's a system that needs to be patched, in all honesty.
@Archaotic: No, it really shouldn't. The system is that way for reason. You have a hand in making the comments better by not responding to garbage. Attention is the lifeblood of the troll. It's up to you to see they aren't promoted.
The UMD sounds like a good deal. Although if you have a psp-go, you'll have to wait. Seems weird, since the game shouldn't work differently downloaded or UMD.
@Myxomatosis: PSPgo comes out on October 1st. Unless you got one early, this shouldn't concern you unless you're a PSP1/2/3000 owner who REALLY wanted the digital version or whose local retailer didn't order any copies.
@Myxomatosis: They definitely work differently as a download or a UMD. If they didnt, every game would run perfectly with custom firmware, since that basically just bypasses the UMD check.
@Omatic: The games aren't exactly the same. Like I said, fi that were true they would all run PERFECTLY, since the only difference is security bypasses.
But that's not true. The data is read differently and some games, with certain firmware, won't run properly or run at all. They may be fixing things for the downloadable one.
I have high hopes for the game, even though I didnt really get into Persona until the third installment. I hope the remake has borrowed some of the more engaging features from the later instalments.

Don't worry, you're not alone. I can only think of a couple others I'd be interested in, which is why I don't have one either.

Trust me, it's not Atlus doing this. It's Sony.
